[When Amy Rose woke up in the school's nurse's office, she was horribly confused. The last thing she remembered was walking home from the grocery store with two huge bags in hand, about to cross the busy street. She didn't think she had tripped and fell into the asphalt or anything; after all, she was completely void of any injury, no pain or bandages. Maybe she had gotten away lucky and some nice soul had deposited her in the hospital just in case. Whatever it was she was totally fine, so she decided right then and there she wasn't going to lie here in this bed forever and decided to check herself out.

As the pink hedgehog pushed herself up off the mattress and headed outside, she was shocked to find that she certainly wasn't in any hospital. As she peeked into the different rooms down the nearby hallways she only became more confused. Why on earth was she in a school?]

What kinda weird joke is this?

[She asked herself with a frown, hands at her hips. She stood there for awhile, thinking hard, before sighing in defeat. She didn't know anyone who could have set something up like this, except if maybe Dr. Eggman had kidnapped her again somehow, but this didn't seem like the kind of place he would go to. Amy was completely stumped.]

[...what the hell? Ryou's never seen a creature like this. She could probably pass for a Duel Monster. At least, he thinks it's a she. She's got a pretty feminine voice after all. And she's... pink. But she's also something utterly bizarre. Is she an alien?!]

Uhm.

[Her joke comment was a pretty good one. What kind of joke was this?]

Excuse me, but... what are you?

[Considering Amy had been alone just moments ago, the sudden sound of someone else's voice made her jump in shock. She quickly whirled around to see the person who had scared her, a gloved hand laying over her pounding heart.]

You scared me!

[She exclaimed, cheeks puffing up and an angry frown settling in when she registered what exactly Ryou had said.]

Hey, what's that supposed to mean!? How can you say such a thing?

Ah... sorry. I didn't mean to be rude. I've... just never seen anyone that looked like you before, so I didn't think.

[He hadn't meant to either startle or offend her. Walking quietly was kind of a bad habit of his. Ryou looks away in embarrassment before glancing back and bowing his head in apology.]

Please excuse my rudeness.

Oh. Well... I guess I kinda acted rude, too, huh?

[The baby pink-colored hedgehog visibly calmed somewhat, her fingers uncurling from the fists she had clenched. She was actually pretty used to people seeing her and knowing what she was by now that she had forgotten how odd it must be to humans.]

My name's Amy Rose, Amy Rose the hedgehog. What's your name?

[She asked curiously, moving to lace her fingers behind her back as she stared up at him in questioning.]

No, you were fine. I shouldn't have sounded so blunt.

[Kneeling down so they're on a more equal level, he offers his hand to her in a friendly manner.]

I'm Ryou Bakura! It's nice to meet you!

[She was supposed to be a hedgehog? He's never seen a hedgehog that looks like that.]

[Amy found herself smiling, reaching out a gloved hand to shake his when he offered.]

It's nice to meet you, too, Ryou! If you're so confused about me, I guess you've never seen anyone around here named Sonic, huh? He's a hedgehog like me, but he's blue with red and white sneakers.

[Her expression took on a dreamy quality, her hands cupping together and she swayed slightly.]

He's my total hero! He always comes to save me if I'm in a tight spot... hey, speaking of, is there anyone around here by the name of Eggman by any chance? He's this big old man with a huge mustache, and he's always riding around in some kind of machine!

[Big old man with a mustache...? The only guy he knows who's like that is Snake. He rubs the back of his head awkwardly. Wow, she must really adore this Sonic guy. It's a little sad to have to admit he hasn't met them.]

Aha... sorry, sorry. There's nobody by either of those names here that I know of. Though I don't know everyone here, I'm sure. You're the first hedgehog I've ever seen.

[That wasn't a... normal hedgehog, anyway.]

Hm... okay. Well if you ever do see Sonic, you better be the first one to let me know, Ryou. I can't let him slip away from me again!

[She grinned, her hands moving down to smooth out her signature red dress.]

I'm guessing you haven't seen some of my other friends then, either... I have too many to name, but I guess you could say that if they're animals like me they're more than likely to be my friends, so keep an eye out!

Un! I'll definitely come let you know if I see anyone like that!

[It's not like she'll be difficult to find if that happens either. The Ring's good for that much, at least. Ryou smiles brightly at her, straightening up.]

I've only seen humans here so far... But I'll keep an eye out! Did you find a dormitory already? I can tell them to go find you there if I meet them.

Only humans, huh... guess I'm the only one here like me. Well, I live in a mostly human city, anyway, so I guess it won't be so different than back home.

[She paused to listen to him, frowning and tapping her chin with her index finger thoughtfully, her other hand supporting her elbow.]

Hey, speaking of, why exactly am I in a school anyway? How long have you been here and how did we get here? I woke up in what I'm guessing is a nurse's office and I don't remember getting hurt or sick or anything...

Uhm... [He has to think about it.] I've been here for seven months now. I think that's right anyway. Though it's closer to eight. I woke up in the same office back in the summer.

[Playing with his hair idly, he looks away, a worried look flickering on his face.]

Nobody really knows how we got here, or why we're here. There's a lady that's in charge of the place, but she only speaks over the intercoms every so often. We don't have to worry about food or anything like that, but there's no way off the island. We're basically stranded on a desert island.

Wow, you've really been here that long? That's... that's awful. Your family must be so worried about you!

[She frowned, a look of concern immediately coming into place. This sounded positively awful, so much more than just a silly kidnapping from Dr. Eggman. If all the things Ryou was saying were true, than the likelihood of Sonic showing up in this place might be slim to none. However, considering she had just arrived here it could also be just the opposite; he could very well show up here, or even the rest of their friends, too.]

Are you sure? There's... there's no way we could take a boat or a ferry out of here or anything? No land anywhere?

[The question is, would his father even have noticed? Even if time flowed the same here as it did outside... most likely, his father would just assume he was too busy to receive his calls. His hands are tense against his sides and he brings them up to fold his arms over his chest in an almost defensive manner. This is probably not the best subject to dwell on, he's sure.]

...There's a barrier. You can't see it, but it's impossible to break by any means we've tried so far.

And even if we broke through, there's no sight of any other land out there. There's no telling how long it would take to find any if we built a raft or something.

[Her hands were upon her hips again, her left foot tapping idly against the cool floor.]

What kind of sick person just kidnaps people like this and dumps them here?! I mean, there can't really be any other way we got here. You can't just show up out of thin air for no rhyme or reason!

Sorry. I wish I had some better news to give you... but even after all this time, the amount of information I know is really limited. I don't think anyone really knows what their intentions are or why we're here.

[A voice rises up inside of his head, rare as it is, and he pauses to listen.

I spoke to that woman myself, host. She claims we're learning important lessons that will help us in life. Talk about a crock of shit... heheh. Shallow justifications seem to be her forte.]

The lady in charge said... we were here to learn. But she's never told us what we're learning or anything. It's probably... just her way of shoving the question aside.

No, no, you don't have anything to apologize for, Ryou! This isn't your fault at all, I just don't understand how someone could do something like this, y'know?

[She folded her arms across her chest, just looking generally annoyed.]

Here to learn? Yeah right! This lady sounds like a total psycho! Has anyone ever seen what she looks like? If I ever find her I oughta give her a big fat piece of my mind!

[He shakes his head ruefully.]

I don't think anyone's ever seen her. We only hear her voice, and it's not often.

We don't even know if she's on the island at all. She could just be calling in from somewhere else.

[For some reason, the spirit is laughing inside of his head. He pinches the bridge of his nose irritably in response to that. What's so funny?]

Ugh... this lady just sounds like pure evil!

[She huffed, cheeks puffing up as she stomped her boots on the floor.]

Ryou, I'm gonna get us out of here even if it takes me forever! There's no way I'm letting this crazy chick control all our lives like this!

Un! I'm sure you'll succeed!

[Ryou's posture relaxes as he gives a determined nod. Truthfully, he's not sure at all, but he'll still cheer her on, dammit! And maybe she can do it! Who knows?]

If I can help at all, I will.

Every little bit of help counts you know! Even if it's just friendly encouragement. That gives you the strength to keep going!

[She grinned brightly, nodding back to him.]

And if you have any friends here they can help, too! I think we should all work together if we're going to solve something big like this, we're stronger in numbers!

Trying to get people to work together here might be a bit of a lost cause.

[He rubs the back of his head, looking away.]

But I know at least two people that'd probably be up for it.

Well that's no good... why do you say that? Doesn't everyone want to leave here, to get home to their friends and families?

[She frowned in thought.]

Well I guess two is better than none, huh?

It's not that they don't want to leave. It's that they probably won't be able to bring themselves to work with other people.

There's some pretty stubborn people here... and a lot of them have reasons to dislike one another.

[His hands twist in concern.]

With this being such a small island... It seems a lot of people are fighting with each other. Taking their frustrations out.

For the most part, it's peaceful, but... There's still those conflicts to deal with.

Really? What's the point in fighting with each other all the time if you're stuck together for so long? It must be so tiresome...

[She shook her head, her short, pink spines swaying with the motion.]

But we need any help we can get, so even if the number is small... it's still enough.
