I don't think it's possible to swim under it, either. Most of the reason we even know the thing's there is because nothing that's been thrown at it can get through it. Rocks, magic, you name it, it just...bounces off or dissipates.
[Though he himself has yet to try anything other than the Corridors. Just finding out those wouldn't lead anywhere but other parts of the island was enough to deter him for a while.]
Feel free to try, though. Someone's got to figure a way out at some point.
