Have a car thief with no cars
[Do you know what happens when you put a confused Serb Yugoslavian expatriate in the middle of a strange building in a strange place while he's in the possession of his favorite carbine rifle? He skulks through a hallway quietly, looking for a way out.
Niko nears a window with his back to the wall. And off in the distance? That jungle? That sure wasn't Middle Park. Not long before he heard something that sounded like the most fucked up war-zone he's ever been near. More rushing fire, less bullets. So he's just playing it careful until he finds some sort of damned map.
First he finds a soda machine, though. And that soda machine is not a Sprunk soda machine. He ventures closer, pokes it with the gun as if that's going to help anything, and moves to look behind it as if he's searching for the mechanism for a bomb in an obviously fake piece of inexplicable equipment. Surveillance maybe?
He's pretty sure he's not in Liberty State, anymore.]
Oh, here we go. [Traces of his Balkan accent in those sarcastic sounding words he goes back around to the front of the soda machine, not creeping along for the time being and with his rifle lowered at his side. He's ready to hop behind that thing defensively though.]
((OOC: New person, new character. Niko Bellic from GTA IV. Snarky bastard but pretty friendly and easy to reason down.))

Guess it makes sense. Maybe Nuka Cola would have been like this too. Too bad all the bottles are over 200 years old now.
[He finally takes a sip, and makes a face. He wasn't really sure what to expect, but he doesn't like the feel of it on his tongue. Tastes a little like Nuka Cola, though. Only... sweeter. He holds the can back out.]
You can have it.

200 years old. [Surely that completely lack of joke face is making some sarcasm there, the way that people exaggerate ages.] What is First Recon?
[He's just going to finish off the soda. He prefers vodka or water, but he doesn't want it to go to waste.]
no subject
[Nope, not joking at all.]
First Recon is a sniper battalion. Part of the NCR.
[He taps the patch on his beret.]
You see someone walking around wearing a red beret, they're First Recon. Says so on the patch, along with the motto.
[He lowers his hand and digs around in his pocket for a packet of cigarettes. As he takes one out and lights it, he glances up at Niko.]
Never got your name.
no subject
[Important question.] Before which war?
[He holds out his hand.] Can I see some of those bottlecaps you were holding. [Wait! He reaches into his pocket and fishes out a few coins, and then presents them in exchange. They're bland, with his universe's contemporaries to ours. But there are not just American ones with dates- he's got three there from different places in Europe.]
Red beret is usually places in South America to me. Or it is sometimes Russian or British. With how you were dressed, I thought maybe British stationed in Middle East.

Boone.
[Well, Niko didn't ask but if Boone knows his name, he may as well offer his own in return. He pauses halfway through shoving his lighter back in his pocket, though. Which war? Is he... joking? He doesn't look like he's joking.]
...The Great War. The one that happened around 200 years ago.
[You know, the one that turned the entire planet to rubble and radiation. That war.
He pulls out a few caps and holds them out, taking the coins from Niko in return. There are several Nuka Cola caps, and a few Sunset Sarsaparilla ones. He turns the coins over in his hands curiously. Huh... these aren't Legion coins after all. He doesn't recognise them at all, actually.]
no subject
The only 'Great War' I know of is World War I. I was born during a war, but this one ended just a few years ago in countries split. Not in no more drinks.
[He offers the caps back after a moment with fingerless-gloved hands.]
If this is a dream it's better than my usual dreams. [He motions off to the side as he just seems to give up trying to understand, then starts to down the soda. Might as well empty out the can to get rid of it.]

Eventually, after apparently being lost in his thoughts for a few moments, he speaks again.]
What year is it?
[He just... he has a feeling there's something majorly wrong here, but he can't figure out what it is. There's something different about the places they were living in before they were brought here.]
no subject
2008.
no subject
2281.
[2008? That's over half a century before the Great War. What does this guy think he's playing at?]
no subject
The phone is a pretty strange thing, itself. It's a touch screen with a bunch of apps.]
no subject
The hell is this?
[It's so... tiny.]
no subject
[He pulls up the camera with a few quick clicks where Boone can see it, and there is Boone's image on the screen, until he clicks the picture button and there's Boone's face.]
It does a lot of things. This is strange, you don't know any of this. I don't know about this war, you don't know about my war. It was talked about much a few years ago.
no subject
Yeah, I don't get it.
[He wonders if he would have gotten it even if he was smarter. There doesn't seem to be any logical explanation for any of this.]
no subject
And appears to be waiting on something.
That something is for Boone to start walking. Say hello to a new, very tall shadow.]
no subject
[He doesn't seem to be too bothered by the idea. If he's gone crazy, well, it doesn't feel much different than usual.
He glances up at Niko when he just stands there. It seems like he's waiting for Boone to do something, but Boone isn't sure what it is. It's not like he doesn't have a habit of walking away from people when they're talking to him, but that's generally only if he doens't like what they're saying. Niko hasn't really given him a reason to just start walking.]
no subject
[With a light shrug. And then he waits a moment. Okay, they're both just sort of standing there.]
You uh, you going somewhere? Because [I have no idea where the fuck I am] better two sets of eyes. Even if they are crazy eyes.
no subject
Then again, he supposes if this guy wanted to shoot him, he would've done already. Not like he doesn't have the means. People don't tend to make idle chit chat with someone they intend to kill, at least not in Boone's experience.]
Was exploring the place until I ran into you. Still trying to figure out who the hell would want to bring us here. More importantly, how they managed to do it. Sign in the clinic said we've been kidnapped. Something about that doesn't add up.
no subject
[He's a little unlucky that way.]
Alright. I'll help you look around, try to make a map in my head as we go. That's something at least.
no subject
Guess so. You seen anything dangerous around here so far?
[Boone just isn't used to walking around a strange place and not having something attack him. He's expecting hostile robots or something every time he turns a corner, but... nothing.]
no subject
no subject
[He doesn't know how serious that board was when it said that eating the food there would probably kill you. Coming from the wasteland he's used to trying his luck with food, but... he wouldn't eat something if someone warned him off it, no matter how hungry he was.]
You come in alone?
no subject
[But it makes him hesitate.]
Did you?
no subject
[He doesn't really want to tell him who he came in with incase he does turn out to be dangerous, but just saying he came in with someone else should be harmless enough.]
Still not sure if it's a good or bad thing myself.
[On the one hand he isn't here alone- on the other hand, he's going to be worrying about Elle if this place turns out to be dangerous.]
no subject
If you see a terrified fat man in a terrible shirt with an accent like mine? That is my cousin. He has a good heart, he's never hurt anyone. He's just an idiot. Don't shoot him.
[He has to get that out of the way right off. Roman's already been shot once in front of him already, he doesn't want to see it again.]
no subject
[Terrified and stupid fat guy in a terrible shirt with a weird accent. Well, Boone doesn't make a habit of shooting people who haven't shot at him first, so Roman should be fine.]
People shoot at him a lot or something?
[He just wonders why Niko had to specifically ask him not to, that's all.]
