[ Yes, yes he would. He doesn't want to appear completely spineless though. With a quick upward glance, he can see the other approaching and diverts his eyes back to the floor. ]

[ The laugh makes him pause in his hunt for his screwdriver, albeit briefly. Despite his recovery, his voice still wavers. ]

[He quirks an eyebrow at the boy. What was he even doing down there?]

You know, these things aren't all that stable. Hanging around underneath them is probably bad for your health.

[ Oh. He doesn't like that emphasis. Time to stop dawdling and get the screwdriver. ]

The weight makes it heavy enough that it's difficult to move. I'm not going to strain anything trying to push it out of the way just so I can get my-- ah. [ He goes quiet for a moment, biting his lip as he tries to get a decent hold on the tool. It takes a few seconds but when he finally pulls it out, a trail of dust comes with him. ] Screwdriver.

[ As Matt looks back up, he slinks back and braces a hand on the wall to help himself into a standing position. ]

Do--... do you want something out of the machine? I was in the process of rewiring it so it'll drop multiple items at once.

...Hoh. You can do that?

[And now he has an idea. Because this is something he can use and that takes a temporary priority over just scaring the guy. Narrowing his eyes a little, he stares at the boy.]

Could you rewire the card machine too?

If it isn't a setup that I'm familiar with, it may take me longer but... yes, I can do it.

[ And if it means that his head is saved, he'll be glad to. ]

[Bakura seems to have skipped the step of actually going "Hey, would you?".]

[ He must look pathetic, rubbing his stomach in hopes of ebbing away both hunger and fright. He wants to speak up, put his foot down, and only move on to the card machine once he's had his food but if it's one thing he learned while under Killbane's thumb, it was how to keep quiet and do as he's told. He knows what happens when one back talks a person with power; Kiki's death left a rather strong impression. Throwing a hesitant look at Bakura, he moves past the vending machine to the one that deals cards so he can get to work. ]

[Flopping down on the nearest comfortable chair, he leans on the arm of it to watch him. Matt does look kind of pathetic right now, that much is true. Really, does the guy not know how to cook? Relying on the vending machines just makes him look like more of a dependant child. Which he guesses the guy kind of is. It's hard to tell with the guy's style, especially while judging foreigners. The voice might be more of a clue, but it's hard to tell.

While Matt works, he tugs out the handheld games console he stole from Judai and plays on it, keeping an eye on him as well as the game. This thing is starting to become a bad habit. He'll have to keep an eye out for when they actually get invented in his timeline.]

FIFTY YEARS LATER. Augh, I have no excuse. I'm sorry.

[ As he works on unscrewing the face plate, Matt casts the occasional glance over his shoulder. He doesn't like turning his back to Bakura but there's no other option seeing as how this is the best vantage point.

Giving the screwdriver a quick dusting before placing it in his mouth, Matt carefully pulls the face plate out and exposes the guts of the machine. He holds it steady with his left hand and moves the other to unzip the pack on his leg. Luckily, he doesn't have to dig for his pliers as they're waiting right on surface. ]

Can you-- [ It's muffled and Matt takes a moment to pull the screwdriver out of his mouth and tuck it back into his leg holster. ] rather, would you unplug the machine for me? I... need to strip these wires.

lmao it's okay! I think I can forgive you~

Hm? Ah, sure.

[Putting the game down, he goes over to the machine, casting a curious look over it. The insides of those machines are really strange to him. Not really all that interesting, but still strange enough to deserve a glance or two. He doesn't bother looking to see where the plug is, letting one of the Ring's prongs point it out for him. What a helpful thing it is...

It's a little hard to reach, but with a bit of effort his fingers close over it, tugging it out.]

It's all clear.

[He waves the plug at him to prove it. He doubts Matt would take his word for it after all. He'd probably be worried about him setting him up for electrocution. Silly human. Not that he wouldn't do it if he found it amusing, but not when he's doing something that benefits him!]

Do you have to keep doing this every so often? I know this place gets repaired.
