After a lot of frustration (and the usage of language his family would not have approved of), this morning Kai had finally gotten his Corridors to work. It'd taken a lot of effort, but he'd managed to progress from an opening the size of his arm to something he could actually walk through without having to stoop over. He was confused as to why it had taken so long, but anything was better than nothing at this point. The first thing he'd done was try and leave the school, only to find himself in another part of it. After the next two attempts, he'd thrown his hands up and decided to practice moving within the school itself. After all, with some of the people he'd seen around here, having a way to dodge out of the line of fire seemed like a good thing.
So far he'd made it from his room to the hallway outside of it, then the gym (which hadn't been what he was trying for at all, he'd had the lounge in mind), and then the A-M section of the library. He was starting to get tired, and it wasn't the smartest thing to be playing with the Darkness too often, so he decided to try once more, this time aiming for the fountain in the courtyard. With his luck so far, he'd probably end up in it instead of next to it. Kai sighed and held out his hand, concentrating. The Corridor swirled into existence in front of him, and he stepped closer, feeling the chill of the Darkness touch his skin. It was funny how it both scared and comforted him at the same time. He wondered if his mother had ever felt like this.
"Okay, last time. Courtyard, here I come."
Kai stepped into the passage and moments later stepped out...to find himself on the roof, of all places.
"...Aw, c'mon! Really?"
He turned around in a circle, taking in the view, and the air conditioning units, and the mattress crammed into a corner, and-
Wait, somebody was sleeping up here? Why would they want to? What if it rained? Kai snorted, shaking his head. As if he was one to talk, he and Tadakuni had turned his bunk into a pillow fort. Well, he should get out of here; whoever slept up here might come back soon, and Kai wouldn't like finding a stranger in his bedroom either. He turned to walk into the Corridor again and found that it was gone. Guess he was a little more tired than he'd thought.
"Guess I'm staying a little while then." He muttered, and went to go sit on the roof, leaning against an air conditioner. Just for a bit, until he could take the stairs down.
