NEVER ENOUGH YGOS
[For those actually loitering inside the building today, you may end up seeing a small little boy with weirdly spiked hair wandering around, most likely having passed you by. Perhaps he asked one of the less helpful people around for directions to some city or outside, and just gotten turned around.
As it is, he's been in and out of rooms and hallways at least three times now. It's only once he's -- somehow -- on the roof again that he finally surrenders to the prospect that he's lost, sighing and flopping his back against one of the AC units.
His hands reach down to fiddle with the large, golden object around his neck, looking up to the sky.]
Jounouchi-kun... Honda-kun... Anzu... where are you?

Jounouchi-kun... Honda-kun... Anzu... where are you?
Days later...
Kaiba had said revenge. Said he had done something. But he hadn't done anything but ask for his Grandpa's card back. The last thing he had remembered was being hit in the head with the briefcase, and then he had just been back home with the card. Yet the way Kaiba acted, it was as if there was some huge event during that time.
But what? What could it have been, to make Kaiba hate him so intensely? And it wasn't just Kaiba... Ryou, too, had seemed to know him, even though he was sure he didn't remember him.
It had been a useless source of thoughts, a snake eating its tail over and over and over to the point that it had brought Yugi to frustrated tears. Before, he had just tried to ignore the blackouts, but that was when things just seemed to work out. But now it seemed like there was something actively doing wrong here...
It's only once he almost walks in the door that he realizes he's at Ryou's dorm. ...Ryou had mentioned blacking out too. And he had been worried that Yugi wouldn't be his friend. Surely... surely...
He reaches up, rapping on the door shakily.]
Bakura-kun?
no subject
He almost missed the shaken rapping sound at first, but the quiet voice out there caught his attention. As he opened the door, he paused to look at Yugi in surprise. The teenager looked like he'd seen a ghost and hadn't been able to sleep for a while afterwards. He took one look at Yugi and stood aside, holding the door open.]
Yugi-kun? Come on in.
[Ryou himself looked a little worse for wear. He'd tried to hide the scar as best as he could, but it wasn't as easy as it looked. On top of that, he was paler than usual, and a little thinner, as if he hadn't been eating enough. On the bright side, the room was tidy, save for the few scattered Monster World figures he'd been working on out of boredom, and a few tubes of paint.]
Are you hungry? I have cakes.
no subject
Thank you, Bakura-kun... I'd like one, please.
[He knows it's rude, but he just sinks into one of the chairs, almost looking ready to collapse right then and there.]
no subject
Did something happen to you, Yugi-kun? You look really tired.
no subject
[He had come here without thinking, but now that he's actually sitting down... Can he go through with this?]
There's... something I need to tell you. It's important, but... don't stop being my friend, please...
no subject
[He has faith in Yugi. He won't let go of that, no matter what it is that Yugi's so afraid of.]
no subject
[Yugi reaches for one of the cakes, nibbling on it weakly. How does he even begin?]
Kaiba-kun hates me. He... he says I did something to him that he wants revenge for, but I don't remember it. And...
[Nibblenibblenibble. It's almost more out of nervousness than anything.]
And I know that something happened to him. I remember that... he tried stealing my Grandfather's card, and I asked for it back, then he hit me hard with his briefcase. After that... I don't remember anything at all. I was just back in front of the game store, with my Grandpa's card in my pocket and my face a little sore.
I... I blacked out for that time. And... I don't know what happened.
[Another pause.]
When... we were in that room, I had blacked out then too. I'm sorry, Bakura-kun, I was... lying to you, because I was scared. My arm was hurting, and I didn't know why, so I waited until you left before I looked.
[Yugi shrugs off his jacket now, holding his arm so Ryou can see; it's been completely bandaged up.]
It... was a long, deep cut from a knife that I got. And I don't even remember how! Just... that before anything happened, I remember you saying something to me.
[He can't even nibble on the cake anymore for shaking now.]
I'm... scared, Bakura-kun! I'm scared... that something happens when I black out and it's something really, really bad! But I don't know what!
no subject
[So Yugi was afraid of his other self too? But Ryou had met the other Yugi. The other Yugi wasn't a frightening person. He was a good person. He was sure of that more than anything else.
But Yugi waking up with a knife wound... was that something to do with his own blackout? Oh no... He hoped not.
There wasn't anything he could really do to help. But despite himself, he couldn't help but reach over and grab Yugi's hands in both of his, clasping them together.]
It's okay, Yugi-kun! I know it doesn't sound like it, but it really is. Yugi-kun hasn't done anything wrong. I'm sure of that.
no subject
Bakura-kun...
[sniffsniff. He manages a weak smile, though it's still definitely shaky.]
Thank you. I... I bet you're right.
[Bakura's encouragement... it does make Yugi feel a lot better, honestly, just as sharing the whole thing with him did. It feels a little... weird, to have his hands held like this, but not bad weird, and right now, he can use any comfort he can get.
He does have to pull one of his hands away after a moment, though, if just to wipe his face off.]
I'm sorry I lied to you, Bakura-kun. You're my friend and I didn't want to, but I was scared to tell you what was wrong, too.
no subject
[He lets go of him long enough to go get him some tissues, before sitting down again and fidgetting. How to say it? What to say?
Then, at last, he fumbles with something under his shirt and brings out the Ring.]
Does this look familiar at all, Yugi-kun?
no subject
[Yugi looks down at his Puzzle, then the Ring.]
It looks a lot like my Puzzle!
no subject
But... Yugi.
Once I started wearing it, I started to black out a lot. And when I did... things happened.
no subject
It couldn't be...]
What... kind of things?
no subject
Eventually... I found out that there was 'another me' who came out when I was wearing it. And that 'other me' was the one hurting the people I knew.
But, Yugi...
There's something important I have to tell you about that.
The 'other you' is the one that stopped him from hurting you, back when I first met you.
no subject
...But that last part...]
The... other me...?
[Of course... if Ryou has another "him" that appears when he blacks out, then obviously, his Puzzle would make...]
He tried to protect me?
no subject
[Taking one of the profiteroles, he nibbles at it for a moment.]
The other me is a bad person. But the other you... I think the other you is a kind person.
no subject
...But he has to admit, ever since he finished the Puzzle and started blacking out, he and his friends have been doing a lot better. Even dangerous situations they've gotten out okay, like the time Anzu was threatened by that criminal...
And yet...]
Whenever I blacked out... it felt like I was falling into a lot of darkness, almost like I couldn't breathe sometimes. And I only ever started blacking out when I felt upset, or scared...
[That criminal, he had burned to death, right there in the booth. Had his "other self" done that?]
I don't really know what to think.
no subject
[The voice is a little more brusque, a little more loud and even kind of thuggish, but it's still Ryou's voice at heart. It'd be difficult to tell that it was a different person and not just a different vocal manner.
Leaning his head on his hand, Bakura stares at Yugi curiously.]
You've got a 'get out of guilt free' permission slip right there in your head, Yugi.
no subject
[Yugi suddenly has a very bad feeling, and he isn't sure why. Ryou sure sounds weird, too...]
Maybe that's true, but that's no reason to...
[...What is he even...]
Bakura-kun?
no subject
[Drawing the name out carelessly, he leans back in his chair with his legs outstretched.]
Don't look so surprised. I just thought I'd say 'hi'.
no subject
You're... the other Bakura-kun?!
no subject
[He smirks a little at that.]
Don't worry, I know better than to hurt you now.
no subject
You did this? Why?
no subject
no subject
[His hands go to grip his puzzle tightly.]
This is my treasure! You can't have it!
