Duel 001: Chaos in the library! The dark spirit's anger

[Rules may have been important to the people running this 'school', but the spirit of the millennium ring had no reason to care enough to find out. He ruthlessly shoved the pile of books from the table in favour of the one he was currently focused on, skimming the contents fervently as the falling books made a huge crash.

There were many books in this place. Such a luxury. But he didn't appreciate it so much as take it as a challenge. That was why there were so many scattered around him. There had to be some clue in this place as to how to get out. The Ring had failed to lead them out. Perhaps the books held a clue.

...of course, he wasn't bothering to read through them all. Ryou could do that if he cared to. He was just skimming for hints.

And that was another book thrown haphazardly aside. This time towards the open doorway.]

Tch... how boring.

[Kaiba pauses. The excitement (and shock) of their duel must have made him a bit forgetful.]

[He looks down at the disc on his arm, then back at Bakura.] Well?

Heh.

You made it.

[And with those words, the ring chimes one last time- and Ryou sinks down into the chair, feeling oddly drained.]

...What? What do you take me for--tell me who really made it!

[Kaiba demanded, having every right to be annoyed. After all, this had been a bet, he should get his winnings. But then, the way Bakura suddenly sinks into his chair...there was something different about him. He no longer felt that intense presence from him.]

Huh? Who made what, Kaiba-kun?

[Ryou blinked tiredly at him. What had been going on while he was sleeping? Bakura hadn't let him know.]

[Oh, great. It's Bakura's other face. Kaiba doesn't even bother to answer him, instead removing the duel disk and taking a look at it to try and find a company logo. Any company that takes pride in its work should have one...

And there it is...the KC of the KaibaCorp logo. What was going on here?! A bootleg, maybe, but...it felt solid.

There was only one way to test it to see if this was the real thing. Kaiba reaches into his pocket and pulls out a monster card, setting it on one of the spaces. Sure enough, the Blue-Eyes White Dragon takes it's massive form in front of them on top of the table.]

... [It was better than his duel box. More hand held than his currently developing disc system...but who made it?!]

[Well, Kaiba looks like he's just seen a ghost. And not the kind that uses clichéd catchphrases either. But he had a feeling he'd better not mention it. Kaiba didn't seem the type to handle knocks to his pride easily. Noticing his own deck set out on the table, he picks it up, flicking through it to make sure it's all there before tucking it back into his pocket. His arm aches vaguely as if in memory of the time when he'd first woken up to find that thing on it. What the hell was his other self up to?

He was already imagining his next letter to his sister. Dear Amane, it would begin, How's school? I just ended up in a new one myself, though not exactly by choice. I'm starting to wonder if everyone I meet here is going to be crazy.

After a moment, he ventures a comment.]

I'm... not sure where it came from.

[blueyesfanboy]

[Kaiba silently composes himself, pulling his card back and returning it to his deck. With it, the hologram disappears.

He'd have to tinker with this device later, when he had time.]

Why am I not surprised? [He says with deadpan snark, picking up his things and heading for the exit.]

[Behind him, Ryou just buries his face in the desk.
