Found them. They're separated. [Bakura held the ring in his hands, the charms that hung at its sides now pointing in the direction of their targets.]

[Nearby, Malik smirks at the news, his face mostly concealed beneath hood of his purple cloak.]
Good. You take Eleanor, and I'll get Harriet then. You know what to do from there.

[Bakura leers in the direction of his target, smirking.] Understood. It should be easy.

[The Egyptian, in return, turns towards his own target and lets out a small laugh.] Hehe...I'll meet you back at the cave then. We'll lure in Henry and Rosenkreuz once we've got the girls.

((ooc: GENERAL WARNING: there will be violence throughout the threads in this post.))

[Once the bottle's empty, he refills it before dropping it back inside the bag and sitting beside Malik.]

You know of the origins of the cards, I assume? When a monster is summoned within the Shadow Realm, the connection between the human world and the dark world is strongest. The cards are simply conduits. While the Items make summoning them easier, even trivial, within that world, anyone could actually summon a monster if they've connected with it.

Back in history, it was considered a forbidden art, used only by a few people. Even then, it was a power that takes both dedication and mental strength. Not only does the connection need to be sustained, but weaker minds would be consumed by their own summons. Though most weaker people would not be able to summon anything save their own ka. Doing that holds a risk, however, because if your ka is destroyed, you'd be killed also.

[His memories are fuzzy, but that knowledge is ingrained upon his mind.]

That's a good way to think of it. Once your mind can recognise the card as being just a doorway, it should be easier. But for now just focus on it the same way you would with the Rod.

[Folding his arms, he leans back against the mountainside, watching him.]
fluffydeathdealer: Yami Bakura (Oh don't give me that look.)

[The feeling of pressure and darkness welling up in the area is a signal even before the shape appears. The connection doesn't look stable, but it's a start. Considering Malik's condition, he's impressed that he even got this far.

Usually, a normal person would be incapable of summoning within this world. The magic within this world had faded, after all. But the existence of the Items created a window. Where they were, magic existed.

Those who were touched by the items were touched by that magic. It awoke them. It changed them. With those 'keys', anything was possible. For Bakura himself, summoning was easy. Magic was practically a part of him. For Malik, it would take some time. He doesn't speak. He just watches.

Not bad! Heheh. You should rest for a while before you try again. The last thing you need is to burn out entirely on the first try.

[He hands it over without a word of protest, looking smug. At least he resists an 'I told you to eat more'.]

What now? We're going to be out here for a while, it seems.

[He should have brought a game with him.]

1/3

[personal profile] fluffydeathdealer 2013-09-04 08:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Fine, whatever.

[He scoffs, sitting beside him while Malik falls asleep. Before long, however, he gets fairly bored. An idea comes to mind. If he can just move Malik so he's less visible, and leave something to guard him and alert him if anyone approached... yes, that seems doable. It'd be wise to examine the surrounding area after all.

So he does just that.

The problem comes when he himself realizes he's tired. Without even realizing it, he relinquishes his hold on Ryou and retreats into the Ring to rest.

fluffydeathdealer: Ryou (Ah! That's the rarest card of all!)

...huh?

[The radio silence from his other self lends no clue as to why he's out in the middle of the jungle in the middle of the day, with bandages over his face and a considerable amount of pain behind them.

Though his shock is at first pretty great, he tries to supress it in favour of getting back home and figuring out what the hell is wrong with his face.

It's not until he gets back to the school that out of the corner of his eye, he sees a familiar person...
fluffydeathdealer: Yami Bakura (WHERE THE HELL DID YOU COME FROM?)

3/3 - MUCH LATER

[personal profile] fluffydeathdealer 2013-09-04 08:58 pm (UTC)(link)
[The Penalty Game fades.

Silence fades to normalcy. The first thing he realizes is that the things beneath his fingers are once more solid. His legs shaking, he grabs onto the wall for support and is relieved when it doesn't simply pass through his fingers. As much as he'd like that ability sometimes, the Penalty Game has given him enough of it for a short lifetime. It had felt like one, that much was certain. It felt like a much greater time had passed, trapped in that torment. For a moment he doesn't even know what day it is. Though it's the same day, he's not sure. It feels like too much time has passed.

The shock of the punishment is pretty heavy, even for him, so even as he returns to the jungle to try to find Malik, he's swaying somewhat. By the time he gets close to their hiding spot, he's seething. Paler than usual, eyes slightly wider, and looking honestly as if he's seen a ghost that pissed him off a great amount, if Malik was awake by that point he might get a shock.

But if all honesty had to come into play, there was something he wouldn't admit all that easily.

Right now, part of him just wanted Malik to speak to him at all. Yell at him, tease him, berate him; it didn't matter. If Malik spoke to him, it meant he was there. That he was recognised. That he existed.

Right now, he wasn't sure that he existed at all.

[Bakura strode closer, making note of the game Malik had been playing for later. He'd ask him about it then. First, he was just going to drop to his knees in front of him, and reach out his hands to touch Malik's face.

A flood of relief filled him at the connection. Malik was very warm. Even a person as isolated as him couldn't have stood that world of intangibility for too long. But Malik had asked a question, right? What was it again?
]

What did you say, Malik?
fluffydeathdealer: Yami Bakura (What did you say?!)

[personal profile] fluffydeathdealer 2013-09-04 09:25 pm (UTC)(link)
...

[His fingers shook slightly against Malik's skin. For the fist time in absolutely hours, he felt like he was actually there. Slumping forwards, he rested his head on Malik's shoulder.]

Yeah. I ran into someone that we really don't want to mess with any time soon.

...stay here.

[His hand drops from Malik's face to rest on his other shoulder, gripping it and preventing him from drawing away too far.]

For once in your life, just don't be difficult and let me be glad you're here.
fluffydeathdealer: Yami Bakura (What did you say?!)

[personal profile] fluffydeathdealer 2013-09-04 09:44 pm (UTC)(link)
[Malik's warmth is almost comforting after that endless nothing. No, it definitely is comforting. Like a favourite toy, often abused, but still treasured in secret.

Malik doesn't even know it yet, does he? Just who it is that he belongs to. Who's in control of him. Nobody is allowed to kill him yet. Not until he gets bored with him. Not until he wrings every bit of fun out of their partnership. For a moment, he just sighs, staying quiet. Then he speaks.
]

It wasn't Rosenkreuz. I ran into a version of the Pharaoh that I think we should avoid.

[He was almost as terrifying as Bakura himself!]

Be silent-! This one isn't like the one we know at home. He's dangerous.

[He doesn't care if it's strange. Right now, Malik's closeness is the only thing calming him. And he is calming, slowly but surely.]
