EGYPTIAN WHEELIES

[Malik had found something while looking through the East Wing. Just what that "something" was becomes apparent when an engine roars to life, and the skid of tires on tiled flooring echoes through the halls.

Sure...sure, he could just walk his new bike outside...but where was the fun in that?! This wasn't an ATV, and it likely wasn't going to fair well in the spotty terrain outdoors...

So he's just going to take a few smooth-riding laps in the halls before he goes to test it outside.

When somebody gets in his way, he rears the bike back onto one wheel, skidding a few feet on the floor before the front tire slams back down and he comes to a stop.]

What, are you trying to get yourself killed?

Good! [As soon as the doorway is clear, Malik steps on it, flying out the door and onto the beach where the wheels of his bike toss up sand behind them. He enjoyed it; the feel of the wind in his hair, engine rumbling beneath him. Bakura's arms and chest against him were a new sensation, but not one that he minded.

He turns them off to the right, rounding around the back of the school before heading north along the grassy cliff edge.]

[Bakura's arms tighten around Malik a little as the bike speeds up. It's entirely on reflex, but that doesn't make it any less of an unnerved response. After that, however, his mood lifts. The feel of the sun shining down on them is offset by the chill of the wind tugging at his clothes and hair.

This entire thing is new to him. It could even be called unique. Malik's comparison wasn't too inaccurate; it felt somewhat similar to a horse, save for that powerful thrumming beneath them that made it clear this was no natural beast he was riding on. It was nowhere near unpleasant.

He rests his head against Malik's back, a smile on his face as he watches the world - or at least the island - go by. His shoulders are shaking with laughter. This really is magnificent!]

Where are we going?

[Malik tilts his head, his expression obscured by the goggles he was wearing. This girl, again...

Now that they knew about the barrier, she was useless.]

Oy, oy, don't you mean "Namu-kun"?

[Phaa... smug little jerk. She bites back a snap of you nearly ran me over, you asshole! and instead shakes her head a little.]

Bakura-kun told me about why you two were hiding out and your real name, so, no, I don't.

Oh. Tch.

[Then this robot was useless--wait, no...maybe not.]

Nevermind then, I have another question. What do I have to give you for a little "recon" mission of my own?

Most of my recon systems are offline, but I can still try, depending on what it is you want me to find out.

...Is that so. What, exactly, did he tell you?

I want...some thing, not information. Is that possible?

The two of you were trying to hide out from the guy that hurt you the first time. Bakura-kun said his burns came from the same man as well, but it was handled and he's gone now. So the two of you are fine, and you were going by your real name again.

...That's why I wanted to talk to you. I wanted to apologize for interrupting you in the forest that time. And... I'm not trying to take Bakura-kun away or anything. I know he's important to you, too, and I wouldn't try that at all.

It's much easier at present for me to get an object than information, so it would be possible, yes.

[Of course she didn't really think he'd somehow gotten weaker. It was sarcasm, as usual. Seemed he had nothing to say to it though, and that was fine. The hourglass swings back behind the motorcycle and follows - she could dispel it, but why waste a perfectly good summon? She could flip it over and inform Malik he's got this amount of time to impress her. That'd be pretty funny, she thinks.

As they begin to ride towards a secluded area, she looks down - staring into space, but technically his back. She's trying hard to remember what happened so she can catch him in a lie if he should try one.]

[Malik's enjoying the scenery himself, sucking in the whole experience. It was soothing...almost cathartic. Driving like this down the side of the island with Bakura pressed against him, Malik almost forgot he was trapped here against his will.]

Not too far...I don't know. I'd circle the island for awhile if I could, but I only have one tank of gas.

[After that was gone, he really wasn't sure what he was going to do. It would be sorely missed...but at least he would had gotten to feel the thrum of an engine under his fingertips again; if only for a little while.]

Too bad... I could get used to this.

[It's a casual admittance of enjoyment, though he doesn't know if Malik will even be able to tell. The dizzying feeling of it all is rather exhilarating and he's actually disappointed that Malik won't be able to refuel.

...he could do without the stupid uncomfortable helmets, though.]

[It seems Bakura had twisted the truth when he spoke to her, which was good...

But he really couldn't help but be tempted to ruin all of that hard work. After all, there still wasn't any use for her.]

Keh keh...you think I care about your apology? You don't understand a thing, and nothing has changed, Karasu-chan~ If you get in my way, I'll still kill you!

[...Hmph. Unfortunately for Malik, her reaction is a bit different this time. She just stares him down.]

Bakura-kun is my friend too. And I'm not going to run off and just drop that.

[Having an actual friend -- someone maybe more than that -- it wasn't something she'd give up without a fight. Besides, these threats... it was just a way of lashing out. Yes, she remembers Bakura saying that. So it's all right. She'll go ahead and take them... she's given them out enough, though not quite to that degree.]

So... we're going to have to learn to get along, Malik-kun. If just so we don't have to worry Bakura-kun.

Bakura is much more than a friend to me. [Malik leans forward on the handle bars and pulls out his Rod, idly turning it in his hands.]

But okay, Karasu-chan. You win. [He smiles, holding the object out so the eye faces her.] I'll get along...

[Activating the Rod's powers, Malik soothingly speaks into her subconscious.

It's nice outside...why don't you go take a walk?]

[Her eyes drift to the object curiously and her mouth opens to ask what it is when she feels that sudden, soothing presence in her head.

Ah... it really is nice... Too good to be in here... isn't it?

Without a word, she turns around and starts walking for the door, fully under Malik's spell.]

[Malik doesn't take them too far. It's a few minutes drive away, but more than far enough from the school to ensure they aren't found.

Stopping the motorbike next to some rocks he kicks out the kickstand and waits for Harriet to get off first. ...Since her arms are kind of around his chest and he can't move with them in the way.]

This should do.

Heh... [Malik picks up on the hint of those words, smiling a bit to himself. He could get used to this too...but it's too bad he won't have the chance.

Driving for a few more minutes, Malik is soon forced to a stop as the relatively flat grassland of the cliff gives way to another dense section of jungle. All good things must come to an end, he supposes.

Stopping the bike and turning off the engine, Malik drops the kickstand.]

I guess here will do. [It was nice, actually, a section of land that straddled the sea and the wilderness. With the sun above them it was a bit hot, but nothing that the cool, salty ocean breeze couldn't take care of.]

[Malik stays where he is, closing his eyes as he concentrates on what she's seeing.

Outside...if you head Northeast there's a beautiful cliff side view. It's to die for...]

[Feeling the bike come to a stop is disappointing, but it had to happen sometime. By that point, Bakura had noticed something odd. He felt relaxed. For once, he really did feel at ease. Maybe there was something to this bike thing after all. Maybe it was the pleasant scenery.

Or maybe it was the company. Who knew?]

Oy, oy... It looks like we're on a date, the place you've taken me to.

[Bakura's teasing is a little less barb-like than usual. It's definitely pleasant scenery, that's for sure.]

[Karasu goes that way obediently. She's actually been to that cliff before -- she's used it as a "jump-off" spot to transform a couple of times.

So it doesn't take her too long to find her way there, standing at the edge to look down at the view.]

[Even like this, speaking as charismatically as he can into her mind...Malik's wearing a merciless grin.

Wouldn't it be nice...to let the cool waves engulf you? Drowning in the beauty of the ocean...

If there was any way to go, that would be it.]

[...yes... that would be good... wouldn't it?

And without hesitation...

Karasu steps off the cliff.]

[But as she falls, something stirs within her. There's a sudden feeling rushing up, something that could be mistaken as panicking --

-- and that's when Malik's control snaps, with the last thought registering in Karasu's head.

I'm falling.]
