the_campus | Duel 002: Peaceful Days! The Fluffiest Training Montage Commences

[It's a bit of a pain, being in a school with no teachers.

Ryou Bakura isn't the type of kid who really likes being too active; he's about on the level of most ordinary teenagers. But after being laid up for so long with the burns to his arms and leg, not only is he extremely restless, but he's sure even his metabolism won't hold up much longer, with the amount he eats. That's why, after checking to see that Henry isn't home to take him up on that training offer, he's decided to try treating this like school and taking an hour or so to do his very own gym class, all by himself. It'd be easier with teachers, but... he doesn't have a choice right now.

Most kids probably would just take the break and be lazy, but right now, Ryou's working hard. Apart from the occasional break, he can be found pretty easily in the east wing, dressed in gym clothes and doing everything from running laps on the track field to climbing ropes.

...though that last one is more like 'falling off ropes'. Stupid mats... they don't cushion that fall at all. Hopefully nobody's dumb enough to stand below him.]

Ow...

[Time for a banana and some water, he thinks.]

Mm. He seemed interested in me and I agreed to allow him to code in a sub-routine and a few extra systems along with a trade of my handheld mapping system in return for full repairs. He agreed.

Huh... That's interesting! I wonder what he put in.

[He smiles politely at Lisa, apologizing for not being fully attentive, and reluctantly lets her take off his shirt and bandages to check the wounds over. The one on the side really isn't holding up well. The attack of Malik's shoes that he doesn't remember has torn it badly and Ryou's falls have jolted it somewhat. But at least it isn't infected, even if healing has been slowed quite a bit. The one on his back, the largest and worst one that seems to spread over most of it to cover his shoulder too, seems to worry her, though. It should be healed much further by now. Still, it's no worse than it was.]

The sub-routine was to prioritize protecting his younger brother in times of danger. However, it was a priority, not an override. As long as Mokuba is being protected, I can protect everyone else right beside him.

The only other system he has installed so far as been one entirely devoted to dueling in the "Duel Monsters" card game.

...ahaha. Of course... that's so typically Kaiba-kun. Duel Monsters and Mokuba... what else matters to him?

[He lets Lisa fuss over him with the practiced skill of someone used to being hurt. At least most of the other burns are no longer dangerous... even if they've left a lot of scars on his forearms. He's more reluctant to let her check his leg, but at least he's wearing shorts, so it doesn't mean taking his trousers off. That one is much better healed, almost gone.]

A strange boy claimed that he had stolen something important from him, but he couldn't offer proof when I pressed, merely resorting to try and guilt me.

...and bribe me, I think. He had something... gold and shiny close to me before driving away in anger.

Yes, that was him. He seemed... somewhat off, as if his sanity was not entirely intact.

No, I hadn't stolen anything. It was Kaiba he claimed did so, and he never fully explained to me what it was. I had wanted proof before I tried anything, and that seemed to anger him.

Un... He wants something of Kaiba-kun's. He tried to get me to steal it for him once, but I refused.

...Hm. There's no need to. If he asked a stranger and you refused him as well, it's unlikely that he knows someone who can take it. Furthermore, Kaiba is not the kind who seems willing to so easily have things he owns taken.

I agree. Kaiba-kun protects important things to himself fiercely.
