MINGLE: What's that in the sky? It's a bird, it's a plane--no, it's Malik up to his usual shit.

[For anybody awake mid-afternoon on the 22nd, outside or caring enough to look at their windows, they might notice a blinding light accompanied by the sudden appearance of a God.

It seems to be one hell of an escape attempt, the golden dragon's wings splayed wide as it sent forth a seemingly never ending stream of fire towards the sky. But something stopped it, an invisible wall of sorts, curling those flames back as if hitting the inside of glass dome. The great beast stops after awhile, starts again, and then disappears in the same bright flash from whence it came.

Pinpointing a location is hard, but whoever seems to have brought the creature about appears to have been at the cliff side behind the school. Of course, they were long gone by the time anybody got there... ]

((ooc: so, this is basically a reaction mingle, for anybody who's interested! since the event would be visible to anybody who cared to look. tag around with each other and so on~ Malik, Harriet, and Bakura won't be around the area anymore, but they still might tag around depending, and the odds are greater if it's a post-summoning starter, since they'll be back in the school a little while after.))

I completely forgot about that.

[Abandoning his own plate, he goes over to put the kettle on.]

[...Well, he was kidding, but he won't turn that away. He places his plate down, ignoring the whine of his stomach as he waits for Jack to return.

A few more minutes certainly won't kill him.]

...I wonder what this world was created for, or by whom. To have a barrier that can resist even power like that... it must be something beyond mere magic. I would think that only God Himself could have such power, yet before coming here, I would also have thought all of this technology was impossible.

And if a beast can have the power that Ra does... do you think it's a magician beyond the strength we're familiar with?

[It's a good question. Power like that was absurd... unnatural. Both Ra and the barrier itself seemed to be made of something of terrible strength.]

Ever since the blackout, I've been wondering about this place. There is definitely magic at work here... but there may be technology aiding it.

In the end, we have few clues to go on and more questions than anything else.

[Setting a mug of warm tea in front of the king, he takes his own and sits back, comfortably warm and ready to eat. At least he has better manners than the spirit that looks so much like him.]

...Their reasoning for creating such a place are a far harder question than 'how'.

A mix of technology and magic... if you could manage it, it would be a terrible power, wouldn't it?

[He takes a sip of the tea, thoughtful now. Could such a thing be mixed? It seemed that technology acted, at least in parts, in absence of magic, so what would introducing magic to it end in? He's actually curious, for various reasons.

Placing the mug down, he begins to eat, as polite as ever, though the speed definitely betrays his hunger.

His mind wanders to the gun that Jayden had. Small, compact, and yet as deadly as any blade or spell... and about as disastrous, in untrained hands. Yet it was a thing of force, like a sword; no anti-magic barrier would stop that, and if Mahad's armor failed...]

Especially lacking a pattern as it does. There are those from our world, different times, but the same none the less. But there are those from completely different worlds, some of whom are the only from that world.

It's as if people are pulled at... random, by the whims of some roll of dice.

Perhaps they are. Surely whoever is behind this is not someone who operates out of a close knowledge of those they bring. The differences are too many.

[Graciously, he takes his knife and fork in hand and sets to work eating his slightly-cooled food.]

Surely they cannot be the sanest of people, that much is certain.

And I would be hard-pressed to tell you a creature or person who could become intimate with so many, over so many worlds and so many times. Even a time traveler in their singular world would find it difficult.

[The plate's already polished off and Henry puts it down, going to sip slowly at the tea.]

Not sane, no... but patient, and easily amused. It seems that they are usually happy to leave us to our own devices, but insist on stirring something up every so often to make things more interesting through our suffering or annoyance.

[Pause.]

...Sounds much like Bakura when I think of it that way.

If it turns out that spirit has anything to do with this place, I'm going to tear his soul right out of Ryou and beat it to a pulp.

[Henry laughs at that quietly, shaking his head.]

I doubt he does very highly. With Malik's reaction to the failure of the barrier and the fact that he seems to genuinely feel affection for that boy, if he had the power to leave I would assume he would have done something about it already.

Most likely, we're just dealing with someone who thinks in much the same way.

[He pauses suddenly, mid-drink, and lowers the cup.]

...So perhaps he might have some insight.

...That's a good point. Perhaps you should ask him next time you speak.

[Though he can't approve of Henry's dalliances with those kids, it's his business. And it might be useful to get the view point of someone with similar thoughts.]

Though I wonder... Are you so sure about his feelings for the boy? It seems odd to imagine a spirit like that growing so attached to a young man.
