Announcement 001

[Whether you're waking up in the clinic just now, or have already done so and are now wandering the halls, a sudden screech of microphone feedback blares over the speakers before fading back out.

A moment later, a woman clears her throat. Her voice is husky and mature, but still feminine, and overall she sounds very authoritative...if not a bit sarcastic.]

Good evening, and welcome to the new school year. I hope your arrival was a pleasant one, last year everybody threw-up from motion sickness, it was quite messy.

[There's a long pause as she seems to think, or perhaps just let any anticipated bustling chatter calm down.] Now, you're all intelligent human beings...for the most part. But I suppose I'll pretend I'm talking to the insipid uneducated masses for a moment; it shouldn't prove too difficult.

[She clears he throat again.] In every hall, you shall find a small intercom. You may use that to ask me any questions after my announcements and "privately" converse. Now, if you head North down one of the halls near the clinic in the Central Wing and keep going, you'll eventually come to either the West or East Dorm Wings, depending on which fork in the road you chose. There you'll find all necessary bunk beds and spare socks.

So, make sure you're all well rested for class in the morning; we wouldn't want to get a failing grade now would we?

[And with that, there's another burst of feedback before her announcement abruptly ends. Anybody who had been wandering the halls will notice a distinct lack of...well, anybody else aside from new arrivals, the Nurse, and the Lunch Lady.

The strange woman over the loudspeakers may have mentioned classes, but the school seemed completely devoid of any teachers to provide those classes. In fact, a lot of things seemed...off.]

[It's starting to look like Navi isn't going to show up any time soon. Surely he would have found her by now... or she him. Fairies aren't known for getting lost.]

Huh?

[It takes a moment longer for Pyrrha's words to push past his own thoughts. He nods, but doesn't feel quite so confident and energetic as before.]

Yeah, I'm fine. She'll probably turn up eventually, right? [With a sigh, he turns away and starts trudging back toward the stairway they'd used to access the roof.]

Maybe we better find somewhere we can stay for the night. I don't think we're going home just yet.
itisntmyfault: (Bringer of woe)

[personal profile] itisntmyfault 2013-05-29 02:57 am (UTC)(link)
Y-yes, perhaps later...

[...Though in all honesty, she has no idea. Pyrrha still doesn't even know where they are right now or how they got here. Everything is just so confusing that... To be honest, she'd much rather not even dwell on it for too long at all.]

[Link's change of mood is noticeable- even to someone as dense at reading others as Pyrrha. She feels really sorry for him, honestly. If only there were something she could do.... But... Pyrrha isn't exactly known for bringing others happier times. If she were a more confident person- a better friend- she would have reached out to touch the boy's shoulder in support... But as it stands, she can only stand back in silence; unsure of what to say or do in this situation.]

[Feeling like she has somehow failed her newfound companion already, Pyrrha merely nods her head in agreement to his words.] Okay...

[Following closely behind once more, Pyrrha blinks as she reflects back on his words. Wait... "somewhere we can stay...?" As in... together.... for the night?]

[N-no; that's... probably not what he meant. Pyrrha silently chides herself as she decides that a person like Link wouldn't suggest something like that so casually. And, besides...]

[....wait-] Link?

[She awkwardly changes the topic of conversation as a question comes to her.] ...Um, if you don't mind me asking- how old are you?

[personal profile] paradoxoftime 2013-05-29 03:13 am (UTC)(link)
[It just feels strange not having that constant companion... but at least he has Pyrrha for company now. No, he knows he can't expect to keep her around all the time. He'll just have to adjust again to being by himself more often than not.

Brooding on this topic, he forgoes conversation as they head downstairs. Only when Pyrrha asks him a question does he start talking again.]

How old am I? [Time is a bit of a fluid concept for him, since he can travel back and forth through it as long as he can make it to the Temple of Time. The answer differs depending on where he is in time at what moment.] Seventeen. Why?
itisntmyfault: (Did I do that?)

[personal profile] itisntmyfault 2013-05-29 04:05 am (UTC)(link)
[Seventeen?? ...Well, now she just feels silly.] N-no reason, it's just... well...

[A bit embarrassed.] You're... so much braver and more adventurous than I am; I suppose that I just assumed you were my age... if not older...

[A pause.] Then again, I suppose that I'm often told that I don't come across as being twenty years old myself, either...

[personal profile] paradoxoftime 2013-05-29 04:17 am (UTC)(link)
[Now it's Link's turn to be surprised. Twenty? He'd thought Pyrrha was his age, actually. She looks very young, and her timid attitude doesn't add any years to his perception of her.]

My age isn't what makes me who I am. It's what I've done that does.

[As Link has found out, once he can prove he's capable, people will trust him with any task regardless of whether he's a kid or an adult.]

I bet you're brave and adventurous too. You just haven't been given a chance to find out yet.

itisntmyfault: (Modest maiden)

[personal profile] itisntmyfault 2013-05-29 04:34 am (UTC)(link)
[Yeah the influence of Soul Edge really does wonders for helping one retain their youth huh]

[Again; that self-assured confidence is enough to make Pyrrha envious.]

I suppose you're right.

[Oh... my. He really thinks that she has the potential to be... adventurous..?]

[Pyrrha has heard much idle flattery in her time- but this is the first time that anyone has said that to her. To think that someone actually... believes in her, as a person...]

[...She has no choice but to smile shyly at that; another blush staining her cheeks. -Only this time, Pyrrha actually forgets to make any effort to conceal her expression from the boy.]

That... that's very kind of you to say.

[personal profile] paradoxoftime 2013-05-29 04:53 am (UTC)(link)
[Can't argue with results]

[This time Link sees the smile and the blush, and in return finds his spirits rising once more. Pyrrha really is... quite beautiful. Even more so when she smiles.]

I just think you're being too hard on yourself.

[Link understands that women in some places are held back from doing anything particularly interesting. It doesn't really seem fair to him. If Pyrrha really wants some adventure in her life, then he feels like he should help her out. Navi would probably smack him on the back of the head for taking on yet another unnecessary distraction.]

I'll make sure you get your fill of action! I wonder if there's a lake here... have you ever wanted to breathe underwater? I could show you how to shoot a bow! I bet you'd like the hookshot too...

[He goes on about possible plans as they return to wandering the school's hallways.]
itisntmyfault: (Did I do that?)

[personal profile] itisntmyfault 2013-05-29 05:16 am (UTC)(link)
[....Oh Gods. What did she just unknowingly sign herself up for...?]

[As Link goes on about all of the things he'd be willing to show her, Pyrrha actually begins to wonder if he perhaps has a bit too much faith in her potential. Gradually, she can feel herself growing increasingly anxious. He even mentioned breathing under water!] U-um..!

[She interrupts;] You know, I... I'm not very good at many things... so...

I- I mean, there's no rush or anything...

[personal profile] paradoxoftime 2013-05-30 03:18 am (UTC)(link)
[He lets her cut him off, and merely shrugs at her concern.]

That's okay. You can't become better at them until you practice.

[They continue eastward bound, and eventually come across the dormitories located there. Link peeks his head into one of the rooms, noting the plain decor and the two bunk beds dominating the space.]

There are some beds in here!

[But it's so dark... aren't there any candles?]
itisntmyfault: (Her sword is drenched in blood)

[personal profile] itisntmyfault 2013-05-30 04:00 am (UTC)(link)
[Pyrrha warily accepts his response... Just so long as he doesn't expect much from her, maybe.... maybe she can manage to avoid disappointing him.]

[As they reach the dim room, Pyrrha does instantly feel a bit more relaxed. She doesn't always get to sleep in an actual bed, so whenever one is made available, Pyrrha certainly appreciates it.]

Oh, Good! [The girl smiles; taking a few hesitant steps inside.] ...It's a bit dark...

Maybe there's a lantern somewh--! [Suddenly Pyrrha's foot clips against the edge of a small shelf, and the girl lets out a yelp as she clumsily falls inside of the dark space.]

[personal profile] paradoxoftime 2013-05-30 04:23 am (UTC)(link)
I'll take a look-

[Hearing that yelp, Link hastily moves forward and attempts to catch Pyrrha before she hits the ground. Ultimately, he ends up grabbing at one of her arms too late, crouched over her downed form.]

Careful! [...That's a bit of a pointless warning now.] Are you all right?

[Unfortunately, he can't really see Pyrrha too well with this lack of lighting. But it was just a little fall, right? Figuring he'd better find something to light up the room, he gets to his feet and feels along the wall until his hand moves over something. Some sort of switch? Link pushes it upward, and suddenly the room is flooded with light.]

Huh!
itisntmyfault: (D8)

[personal profile] itisntmyfault 2013-05-30 04:36 am (UTC)(link)
[Pyrrha blinks; quickly sitting up as Link grabs hold of her arm.] F-fine!! I... I'm fine!

[Her pride sure took a nasty spill, though.]

[Pyrrha gets back up to her feet as Link looks around the room. It's only when the light suddenly flicks on that the young woman's suddenly surprised- and thoroughly embarrassed expression can be clearly seen. She turns away a bit when the room is illuminated; a blush still staining her cheeks at the thought of having stumbled in front of Link.] O-oh!

So that's... how it works.... [Link sure does have some admirable puzzle-solving skills indeed! Pyrrha walks over to take a seat upon the bottom bunk.]
Edited 2013-05-30 04:39 (UTC)

[personal profile] paradoxoftime 2013-05-30 05:41 am (UTC)(link)
[That was easy enough! He didn't even have to kill anything or move blocks in a certain pattern.]

It's impressive how they get the light going without any fire.

[Link looks over the beds and feels an urge to claim one of the top bunks. But he isn't sure if he should go for bed one on top of the one Pyrrha is sitting on, or the entirely empty bunk. Would it be improper to share the same one? Or rude not to?]

At least we know we can sleep here. If we move furniture in front of the door, we should be safe from intruders.
itisntmyfault: (Lost and confused)

[personal profile] itisntmyfault 2013-05-30 06:11 am (UTC)(link)
[Nodding her head in agreement.] And they're much brighter than lanterns too... [She can only wonder how they function. But odds are the answer is something far beyond her understanding anyway, so there's little point in dwelling on it.]

[Pyrrha wonders if it's really okay to be sharing a room like this... With a male, specifically. Isn't this kind of thing... improper? But... she really doesn't want to be all alone in this strange place, either. Pyrrha can't explain it exactly, but she feels... safe, with Link around. He's proven himself to be dependable already- and they've only just met today. If anything, one would have to wonder why he would want to continue busying himself with her. He's a kind boy... Perhaps he merely feels sorry for her. If so, she still doesn't mind. Even being pitied feels better than the thought of being left alone right now.]

[Besides... siblings share rooms all the time. If she tries to think of Link in that manner, maybe it's not so bad. Tira once informed her that she.... has a brother somewhere, out there. Pyrrha has no memory of any family... but she wonders if he's anything like Link....]

[...But she... shouldn't be having thoughts like that. It's far to... risky, for her to let herself get too attached to others....]

Intruders? [Oh boy. Pyrrha furrows her brow in concern.] But... but we have nothing to steal. Do you really think someone would try to break in here..?

[personal profile] paradoxoftime 2013-05-30 05:51 pm (UTC)(link)
[Link doesn't give it much consideration either. During his travels he's come across loads of things that he doesn't understand, and has decided there's no use trying.]

[Whether or not this is proper, Link decides to let Pyrrha make that determination. Normally he finds some secluded patch of grass to sleep in, or an inn if he's lucky. Sharing a room had never bothered him either, and no matter where he'd slept he'd always had Navi with him. That had to change, unfortunately.]

I don't really think so, but if there are monsters here, they might want to kill us just for fun.

[Isn't that an encouraging thought?]
itisntmyfault: (My weight!? But....)

[personal profile] itisntmyfault 2013-05-30 07:13 pm (UTC)(link)
W-WHAT!? [Is... is that kind of thing common...?]

[Pyrrha clutches her shield to her chest. Maybe... sleeping with her sword under the bed would be best tonight.] Um...

P-perhaps moving something in front of the door would be best after all...

[personal profile] paradoxoftime 2013-05-30 07:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Uh...

[So maybe the idea of monsters killing for fun is a bit more frightening to some. But it's a legitimate concern!]

It can't hurt, right?

[Link closes the door and starts pushing one of the wardrobes in front of it. That should be heavy enough, and if not at least it'd make enough noise to wake them so he could fight off any monsters.]
itisntmyfault: (Hrm...)

[personal profile] itisntmyfault 2013-05-31 05:22 am (UTC)(link)
[Pyrrha watches as Link blocks the door; instantly feeling a bit more relaxed afterwards. -A bit.]

[With a tiny sigh, the girl begins to undo the buckles of her boots; pulling them off and placing them off to the side. She hesitates momentarily before doing the same with her long, leather leggings; slipping them down from her thighs and pulling them free until her legs lay bare. Somewhat embarrassed, Pyrrha is sure to keep her gaze averted as she does this, and goes silent before speaking again.] ...Link?

[Warily.] Don't... go anywhere, okay?

Please stay close by for tonight....

[personal profile] paradoxoftime 2013-06-03 01:21 am (UTC)(link)
[Once the wardrobe is in place he gives their "security system" a satisfied nod before turning back to Pyrrha. He then looks away again quickly when he sees her removing her leggings.]

Oh- no, I won't go anywhere.

[Stepping toward the bunk beds, Link removes his hat and places it down on the nearby nightstand. His gauntlets are quick to follow. Considering the low volume of Pyrrha's voice, he almost misses her next request. Nodding, he continues removing his gear until he's left in only the green tunic and his underclothes. Slightly unsure about what Pyrrha meant precisely by "close," Link hesitantly sits down on the bed next to her. Does she mean this close, or just in the same room?]
itisntmyfault: (Really...? I have a family?)

[personal profile] itisntmyfault 2013-06-03 05:05 am (UTC)(link)
[Pyrrha blinks as the boy sits next to her.]

....

[And then-] O-oh-!

Um-- I.... uh.... [In the same bed?? The Grecian's freckled cheeks go bright pink at the thought. Granted, Pyrrha DID ask him to stay nearby, and she probably would feel a lot safer tonight with Link so close ,but... Was this kind of thing really okay??] Well... you....

You're free to... sleep however you please, of course. I- I didn't mean for you to do anything that would... compromise your comfort... [Especially since he was probably looking forward to having a bed to himself. She didn't want to be overly demanding of the boy.]

[personal profile] paradoxoftime 2013-06-03 05:30 pm (UTC)(link)
[Link feels far more uncertain when he sees how pink Pyrrha's face has gotten when he sits down next to her. Maybe that wasn't the right solution at all.]

I'm used to sleeping in the grass... I'll be fine either way.

[But after a few more moments of thought, Link concludes that he probably shouldn't share the same bed. If something were to attack, he might not be able to jump into action right away. Instead, he stands and pads over to the other bunk bed. Grabbing the frame, he slowly starts dragging it closer to Pyrrha's bunk. Once there's only a couple feet between the beds, he lets go of the frame.]

I'll sleep on the bottom bed here. That way I'll be close, but I won't be in your way.
itisntmyfault: (You're too kind.)

[personal profile] itisntmyfault 2013-06-03 05:46 pm (UTC)(link)
[Pyrrha relaxed somewhat; watching the boy as he dragged his bed closer to her own. With a small smile, she nods her head in appreciation to his words; feeling much safer already. ...Still, she will probably keep her own sword under her bed as she sleeps.]

Link... [Feeling very touched by his care for her, Pyrrha... doesn't really know what to say. It's been a while since someone has been so kind to her...] I...

[A pause. Eventually, she merely looks away; still smiling somewhat bashfully.] Well... th-thank you.

[With that, she climbs beneath her covers; fluffing her pillow a bit.]

I'll... see you in the morning, then. [A small smile. What a strange thought... When was the last time she's gotten to wake up beside someone else, even..?]

[personal profile] paradoxoftime 2013-06-04 03:43 am (UTC)(link)
[He smiles at Pyrrha's appreciation, always glad to know he's done something that someone finds helpful.]

It's no problem.

[While his roommate makes herself comfortable, Link finishes getting himself ready for bed, then goes to turn off the light. The room is completely dark; thanks to the wardrobe blocking the door, not even the small bar of light from the hallway sneaks in. Luckily, there really isn't anything to trip over as he makes his way back to his bed and flops down onto the mattress.]

Sleep well.
