Announcement 001

[intercom_voice]

[Whether you're waking up in the clinic just now, or have already done so and are now wandering the halls, a sudden screech of microphone feedback blares over the speakers before fading back out.

A moment later, a woman clears her throat. Her voice is husky and mature, but still feminine, and overall she sounds very authoritative...if not a bit sarcastic.]

Good evening, and welcome to the new school year. I hope your arrival was a pleasant one, last year everybody threw-up from motion sickness, it was quite messy.

[There's a long pause as she seems to think, or perhaps just let any anticipated bustling chatter calm down.] Now, you're all intelligent human beings...for the most part. But I suppose I'll pretend I'm talking to the insipid uneducated masses for a moment; it shouldn't prove too difficult.

[She clears he throat again.] In every hall, you shall find a small intercom. You may use that to ask me any questions after my announcements and "privately" converse. Now, if you head North down one of the halls near the clinic in the Central Wing and keep going, you'll eventually come to either the West or East Dorm Wings, depending on which fork in the road you chose. There you'll find all necessary bunk beds and spare socks.

So, make sure you're all well rested for class in the morning; we wouldn't want to get a failing grade now would we?

[And with that, there's another burst of feedback before her announcement abruptly ends. Anybody who had been wandering the halls will notice a distinct lack of...well, anybody else aside from new arrivals, the Nurse, and the Lunch Lady.

The strange woman over the loudspeakers may have mentioned classes, but the school seemed completely devoid of any teachers to provide those classes. In fact, a lot of things seemed...off.]

[Pyrrha flinches as the man approaches; her freckled face pale and full of worry.]

K-keep away...!

[Her voice is trembling slightly; far too soft to sound very threatening. It's quite obvious that she's merely frightened and, at the moment, very unsure of who she can trust.]

[dreameragent]

[He stops and holds up his hands.]

Okay, I wont get any closer... but I'm not here to cause anyone any trouble. I promise.

[He didn't want to frighten her away, or cause her any further distress. Part of him wonders if maybe theres someone here that he should be concerned with... perhaps the killer of Laura Palmer?]

[itisntmyfault]

[This man... he dresses strangely. But he isn't the only thing that's strange around here. Even the environment... such strange, minimalistic architecture and odd lighting devices... Where on earth can she be...?]

[She pauses; looking the stranger over. He doesn't appear to bear any weaponry. That alone helps put the girl at ease, a tiny bit. At his words, she furrows her brow; swallowing back her fear as she searches his eyes.] You... you don't intend to harm me, then..?

I have your word..?

[dreameragent]

Of course.

[He gives her a reassuring smile.]

You have my word.

[He hopes she'll calm down soon, so they can work together.]

[Her expression still holds some worry, and she keeps her distance, but Pyrrha listens to his words and generally accepts them as truth. It's not very hard to convince Pyrrha of anything, really; and despite her fear, she can be pretty easily persuaded.]

[The blonde relaxes her grip on her sword; no longer easing away.] ...Very well...

[After a slight pause, she offers the man a small bow of her head.] I... I apologize, for the way I greeted you... I just... [Well. She'd rather not explain, really.]

There's no need to apologize, we're in a strange place and it's hard to know who you can trust in situations like these.

[He extends a hand to shake.]

I'm special agent Dale Cooper. What might your name be?

[itisntmyfault]

[Pyrrha blinks at the man's extended hand.] O-oh...

um... [She wasn't prepared for such familiar contact to be initiated! One who has lived as a servant in her time does not simply shake a man's hand... What kind of woman would that make her?? A bit flustered, the blonde nervously dips into a polite curtsey, rather than take his hand.]

P- Pyrrha... My name is Pyrrha, sir.

It's... a pleasure to meet you.

[dreameragent]

Pyyrha, what a lovely name.

[He drops his hand to his side.]

The pleasure is all mine. Would you mind if I asked you some questions Pyyrha?

[itisntmyfault]

[Pyrrha straightens; relaxing once more.] Thank you...

[Canting her head to the side.] ...I wouldn't, but... If it's in regards to that voice that echoed out just now, then I'm afraid that I honestly don't know what magic was used to make that happen.

Magic? You mean the intercom?

[He chuckles.]

I can see how it seems like it, but it's a perfectly normal everyday thing I'm afraid.

[itisntmyfault]

["Normal"..?] I've never heard of an "Intercom". Is she the one who spoke?

[Why is he laughing..? Did she say something funny?] ...But... to make her voice boom as loudly as the Gods... well... She must use very powerful magic, right..?

[dreameragent]

You haven't? Oh, uh sort of. The one who spoke used the intercom so that everyone in the building could hear her.

[He looks around till he sees one of the speakers hanging in the hall and points to it.]

See her voice comes from that speaker up there. She's probably in a room somewhere.

[He pauses.]

I suppose you could say it's like magic, but we call it science.

[itisntmyfault]

[Pyrrha looks up at the intercom.] ...I... see... [...Kind of. Not really. She sees no difference between magic and this man's "science" herself- but the young woman will take his word for it. This man certainly seems to know what he's talking about.] ...Anyway;

Did you still have any questions, then?

[dreameragent]

Ah, right... I had nearly forgotten.

I wanted to ask you if you knew where we were, and how we got here.

[itisntmyfault]

[Pyrrha shakes her head.] I was just...

[...Well. No need to go into what she was doing before her arrival, really.] ...I was... outdoors.

Then I covered my eyes... and when I opened them again, I was just... here.

[Pyrrha looks distantly down the hall.] Just as I had wished to be somewhere else... It was almost like... a blessing... [All things considered, she's certainly looking at this unexpected change as a positive thing for now.]

[dreameragent]

Outdoors?

[He wonders if she was some part of an act, it would explain her costume.]

Hmm, something similar to what I experienced then.

[He pauses after she finished speaking.]

Miss Pyrrha, you weren't in serious danger were you?

[itisntmyfault]

[Pyrrha blinks at the question; suddenly a bit nervous.] I... I was-- um,

[She averts her gaze.] I'm okay so-- it... it's okay now.

[A pause.] A-anyway, do you know what the voice meant earlier, about "class"...?

[Smooth subject-change!]

[dreameragent]

[He gives her a small smile, attempting to spread some good cheer to her.]

If you say so.

[He'll stop questioning her for now. There was no need to push for details, especially when she seemed distressed. She'd tell him when, and if, she was ready.]

Class? Like lessons, you go to see a teacher or instructor at a certain time in order to learn from them.

[Wait.]

You don't know what a class is?

...I've... heard of classes, yes.

But I've never been to one, myself. I've learned things from other people, but... I've never had the chance to attend any "classes". I.. spend a lot of time on my own. ...Traveling.

[A pause.] Um... speaking of things I do not know...

What is a "special agent"? Are you a holy knight of some sort?

[dreameragent]

I see. Sounds interesting, must have been enlightening being able to travel and learn that way.

[He smirked.]

I wish, but I am merely a man doing his best for the people. What I do is investigate crimes that are considered to big for just the local law enforcement alone to handle.

[itisntmyfault]

[Enlightening?] ...I wouldn't use that word, exactly.

I see... [Kind of.] "Too big"? What kinds of crimes do you specialize in?

[dreameragent]

Oh, sorry if I've made a mistake...

[He scratches his chin.]

Hmm, well big cases. Involving serial criminals, or people aiming to harm the country. I can't give out too much for details so I'll just give you the basics. Stuff like big drug crimes, bank robberies, most white collar crimes, terrorist related crimes, stuff like that.

[itisntmyfault]

N-no, it's fine I just... I've never... had the chance to really enjoy traveling. I've always wanted to just settle down in one home... but it's... difficult.

[Pyrrha blinks.] ...W-white collar? [She looks down to her own dress- which happens to bear a golden-trimmed white collar.]

[Confused, and a bit nervous.] Is... is there a way for me to know whether I'm committing a "white-collar" crime..?

[dreameragent]

[He catches her eyeing her collar and chuckles.]

White collar crime is a financially motivated nonviolent crime committed for illegal monetary gain. Not wearing a white collar. If it were, I'd be just as guilty as you miss.

[This woman really was mysterious. She said she traveled a lot, and yet she was unfamiliar with things like the intercom, and white collar crime. Maybe she'd only ever traveled in less techno-savvy places of the world? Yeah that must be it. He was kind of jealous to be honest.]

I... see. [...But still only kind of.]

I'm sorry for bothering you with such questions. It's just... I've never heard anyone speak quite like you do.

May I ask where it is that you're from? You speak with... such a strange tongue.

-N-not that that's a bad thing...
