[Whoops. She's running a little late it seems, for today, the intercoms buzz into action a little late.]

Ahem. Attention, students!

[The husky voice of - well, the Voice that speaks over the intercom - echoes through the halls.]

Now that we're all done with our bout of spring sickness, it's time to buckle down to our studies! Remember that tests may appear at any time, and it would be such a shame if you were all to fail and be kept back another year.

And don't forget to be welcoming to our new arrivals, won't you? They're quite behind the times, after all.

[Her voice is filled with an unending fountain of sarcasm.]

Yeah, sure, okay. Considering some of the mess I've heard about, if you did that you wouldn't have any students to teach.

Oh, don't worry, dear. We can always get new students.

[While she doesn't mind being here so much anymore, the idea of other people being dragged in against their will still rankles. Wren sticks her tongue out at the intercom.]

[By knocking holes in walls, anyway. A furry legion of pencil rats flooding the halls is starting to seem like a fun thing to try.]

And what sort of tests does this "school" administer?

You aren't providing any material to study either, so we aren't receiving much of an education to prepare for them.

Oh, but you're wrong! I've given you all sorts of things to learn! If you're not learning anything, then clearly you're not studying hard enough.

The conditions for graduation are for you to discover on your own. You don't need me to hold your hand, do you?

But here's a tip, since I'm sure you must never have been to school before to ask such a silly thing. When you've learned everything you need to, you'll graduate.

Fine. I'll learn what I need, and expect to be able to leave post-haste. Not all of us can afford to be kept here indefinitely and walk in circles; we have responsibilities to see to.

As of now, your responsibilities are towards the school. There's no need to worry about the outside world. The life of a student is hard, but the rewards are worth it!
