[Whoops. She's running a little late it seems, for today, the intercoms buzz into action a little late.]

Ahem. Attention, students!

[The husky voice of - well, the Voice that speaks over the intercom - echoes through the halls.]

Now that we're all done with our bout of spring sickness, it's time to buckle down to our studies! Remember that tests may appear at any time, and it would be such a shame if you were all to fail and be kept back another year.

And don't forget to be welcoming to our new arrivals, won't you? They're quite behind the times, after all.

[Niko just side eyes the intercom this time. He's beyond the point of outrage or anything else. He's just sitting at a table in the cafeteria, ignoring the cook and stacking cards in some vague representation of a house. He's trying, anyway. He doesn't see how people can get these up to five level high.]

[Yeah, he's being exciting as fuck right now, making house of cards and occasionally sipping from a bottle of Dr. Pepper. But at least the evolutionary callback of an expression on his face as he concentrates is a little bit entertaining.]

Now, now, we have a rule against destroying school property, my dear! We might have to expel you!

[Her voice is filled with an unending fountain of sarcasm.]

[Like the nurse's office, Kai tries to avoid the cafeteria as much as possible. He's got a good reason for being in here, though, and of course it involves pranks. He's not sure what kind of food he wants to subject his target to though, so he's more or less just eyeing things (and wanting to back away) before he takes in the rest of the room and spots Niko.

I usually cheat and use glue for those.

[Hey Niko, hope you don't mind him easing down at your table. Hopefully he won't knock over what little house there is.]

[Which Wren just rolls her eyes at.]

Yeah, sure, okay. Considering some of the mess I've heard about, if you did that you wouldn't have any students to teach.

I wouldn't be able to play poker with them later if I did that. Not that I like card games too much. [After he jostles them by sitting his elbow on the table he picks up the card deck and shuffles them together.]

I have a question. What is going now between you and the Japanese girl? [Though he hasn't seen her lately. He's noticed she's been gone.]

I'm terrible at card games. I try not to bother. [Excepting Duel Monsters, but that's still pretty iffy in his mind.]

[Oh Light, did he really just ask him that. Kai resists the urge to thunk his head into the table, instead propping an elbow up and resting his head on the palm of his hand.]

Not much. [That was an honest answer, but specifics would be useful. For both of them, actually.] We're friends, though. Still. Somehow.

[Oh, hey, card house. Karasu blinks a bit, looking at it curiously but staying where she's standing so not to knock it down.]

Have you been working on that for a while?

[Karasu's doing something easy today; she's just chilling in the lounge with a few decks of cards beside her. It's just a normal deck of playing cards, though, rather than the Duel Monster cards, and it becomes apparent why pretty quickly.

She's trying to learn how to do magic tricks... and failing pretty hard, if the fact that half the time she does she ends up just accidentally flinging the cards all over the poor unfortunate shlub who walks past is any indication.]

If for a while you mean failing at it a bunch of times? Sure.

[And it goes down again. He huffs, grunting unhappily at it.] I guess I don't have a very light touch for this sort of thing.

She mentioned that things were kind of strange there still. But she still wanted to be friends. Hell if I know. [He's trying to put two cards together again.]

I'm not going to pretend to understand what happened. But from the gist I get some kid pissed you off, you get him back, but in the process hurt people? Which is a simple version.

[Because he's not ready to start delving into this whole horrible alternate personality undead back from the dead maybe died he doesn't know bullshit yet.]

[Which unfortunately would be the boy with a comic book open in front of his face. Yes, he's gifted with the ability to read and walk at the same time. Cards landing on him though, well, that's a little distracting.]

[She'll be grabbing the ones that are still on the table or near her feet.]

Kind of strange, yeah. ['Forever screwed himself over', in his opinion.] But friends.

[Kai visibly cringes at that, simple version or not, and turns his attention to the cards. Really, glue's much better for this sort of thing.] Yeah...I knew better. I shouldn't have tried it. I could've- well, she did die, didn't she? I just wasn't the one to...

[Kai shrugs, pushing the thought back. Nope.] Glad my little creepies didn't get you, though.

No, they're mine now. I'm holding them hostage.

[Even as he says it, he's gathering them up for her, peering under one of the machines to make sure none slid under there.]

What're you doing, trying to give people papercuts?

No, I'm just trying to practice some tricks.

[She smiles a little, stacking the ones she has back together.]

[Ha, there is one back there. Kai eases it out and takes it over, handing her the cards before he takes a seat with his comic book.]

At least I had the comic in front of my face, you might've taken out an eye.

[She chuckles a little, lightly kicking him under the table.]

It's not that bad! It wasn't like I was aiming for your eye or anything.

[What kick back, you didn't feel anything...probably because he barely nudged her.]
