Duel 001: Chaos in the library! The dark spirit's anger
[Rules may have been important to the people running this 'school', but the spirit of the millennium ring had no reason to care enough to find out. He ruthlessly shoved the pile of books from the table in favour of the one he was currently focused on, skimming the contents fervently as the falling books made a huge crash.
There were many books in this place. Such a luxury. But he didn't appreciate it so much as take it as a challenge. That was why there were so many scattered around him. There had to be some clue in this place as to how to get out. The Ring had failed to lead them out. Perhaps the books held a clue.
...of course, he wasn't bothering to read through them all. Ryou could do that if he cared to. He was just skimming for hints.
And that was another book thrown haphazardly aside. This time towards the open doorway.]
Tch... how boring.

That would be none of your business. [He says cool, recomposed, closing his book and deeming it useless.] I see you really took my words to heart.
no subject
Is that so? Don't flatter yourself. I have better things to do than to take advice from you.
[Oh and now he's super-curious. It could be anything in there! Technology, money, secrets that can be held over Kaiba's head... The possibilities are endless.]
Not even a hint? You've got me curious now.
no subject
[Still...he narrow his eyes suspiciously at the other teen.]
What makes you think you deserve a hint? Tch. I'm busy. [He gets up, going to grab another book.]
no subject
[He holds up a hand, looking amused. It didn't matter what Kaiba thought he deserved. Bakura rarely let an opportunity slip by.]
You don't have time to waste, but maybe you'd have time for this. Consider it a proposition.
If I don't deserve a hint, let me earn one.
[Reaching into his pocket, he drew out his deck, leisurely waving it in the air.]
Of course, if you're too busy to deal with a challenge, it can wait... For a little while.
no subject
[When Bakura pulls out his deck, he almost laughs.] You call that a challenge? I'd crush you. Or have you forgotten who I am?

3/3
But if it's not that easy... If you lose, then I'll be taking a look in that briefcase of yours.
no subject
Defeating you wouldn't even be worth the effort of shuffling my deck. What do I get it I win? [He folds his arms.] So far I only get the worthless honor of having defeated a nobody.
no subject
[He feels his smile widening and does nothing to stop it. ]
Hehe. I have something that might seem familiar to you.
[The duel disk was uncomfortable to be worn longtime, not that he'd noticed it so much back at Battle City. In the library? Yes. Yes he had. Still, it was valuable in its own way. Going back to his chair, he drew it out from behind a pile of books.]
Since you're not wearing it, I assume you don't have one here.
no subject
I've never seen that in my life. [But that doesn't mean he can't figure out what it is. After all, he had just finished inventing a prototype of a handheld Solid Vision duel system...but it looked nothing like that.]
Is it some sort of dueling system? [He narrows his eyes. Who the hell was stepping in on his territory? KaibaCorp was supposed to be inventing these things!] Who made it?
no subject
[Alright, that was a bit confusing. Clearly either time was messed up in this place, or Kaiba was very very confused. He could easily believe either. This place left him with an eerie feeling - like an omen of mystery.]
I doubt you'd believe me if I told you. Besides... What makes you think you deserve an answer?
no subject
Kaiba took out his deck, placing it firmly on the table.]
I'll find out the answer soon enough when I defeat you. [Kaiba points suddenly at Bakura.] You'll not only give me that duel-disk, but you'll tell me who made it too!
no subject
[Oh, now he's smiling. Kaiba really doesn't remember a thing, it seems. Something to hold over him.]
I'll give you the answer... if you win.
[The ring's prongs make a light chiming noise as he sits opposite Kaiba, setting his deck down on the table as well.]
Though you may not find it as easy as you think.
[After all... Kaiba doesn't have a Millennium Item to protect him. With a slightly disturbing chuckle, he begins to shuffle his deck.]
no subject
[Kaiba picks up his own deck to shuffle it, then places it down again near Bakura once he's done so they can do the traditional cutting of their opponent's decks.]
no subject
[Cutting the deck, he hands it back over with a smile.]
Hmhmhmhmhm...
[Bakura focuses, drawing the world immediately around them into the dark world.
The chime grows louder, the Millennium Ring's power calling forth the field. In a mere moment, the library disappears under a sea of writhing darkness. This is true isolation. The air is heavy, viciously so. It's glorious.
He looks over at Kaiba, wondering how he'll take it.]
no subject
[What was this...was it part of the duel-disk technology? Simulating battle damage was one thing, but what was the purpose of this?.]
[...Kaiba silently draws his initial five cards.] Since you challenged me, I get to go first.
no subject
After all, the duel had just started. Where was the fun in revealing your strategy straight away? He drew his initial cards, waiting for Kaiba to make his move.]
Be my guest. I look forward to seeing what you can do in person.
no subject
I summon Battle Ox in attack mode! [That was 1700 attack points...Bakura would be lucky to draw a card that exceeded that. And while he couldn't attack on this turn, he--
Kaiba loses his train of thought when suddenly the monster in front of him appears on the card he'd just play. So....that duel disk worked like one of his battle boxes, right? But Bakura wasn't even wearing the disk, and neither was he...]
I...place two cards face down and end my turn.
no subject
[Drawing a card, he smiled, setting a magic card down.]
Then I play this card. Dark Door.
[While that was in play, luckily for him, even if Kaiba summoned another monster he could only attack with one. Drawing Sangan from his hand, he set it in defense mode. Kaiba could probably see the card move.]
I'll set this card face down. And...
[Just one trap. It wasn't terribly dangerous, but it'd do for now.]
Your turn.
no subject
Hm. [He draws a card, and when glancing down at it, smirks. He'll save that for his next turn.]
I play Saggi the Dark Clown in attack mode, and then use my Battle Ox to obliterate your Sangan.
I also set one card face down. [Kaiba smirks. Sangan's effect would be useless in the matter of one turn anyway.]
no subject
[Sangan's effect activates the instant it's in the graveyard. He already knows what card he wants.]
Then, it's my turn.
[The card he'd drawn from the usual drawn turn was interesting. Setting the trap card he'd drawn, he smiles at Kaiba. ]
Oh, that's right. There's something you might not know about this duel, Kaiba.
But I'm sure you'll figure it out soon. For now, I'll play along with your tricks. Headless Knight! Destroy Saggi the Dark Clown!
[Playing Headless Knight (1450/1700) in attack mode, he watched to see what Kaiba would do.]
no subject
Ghk--! [He grabs the spot, wincing. Simulating battle damage was one thing, but this was just plain sadistic. For a moment, he could scarcely catch his breath. With that attack, his life points drop to 1150, but it was well worth it.]
Haa...if you think tricks like that will distract me, you'd better get another strategy.
Bakura--you activated my trap card, Crush Card Virus! Now all your monsters from your deck and hand with 1500 attack or higher are sent to the graveyard!
1/2
[That takes the Earl of Demise, Dark Necrofear and Dark Ruler Ha Des out of the playing field. It's a good thing his deck is mostly comprised of lower-attack effect monsters... but even so, that's a problem. Kaiba has some pretty strong monsters at hand.]
Your turn, then.
[Two trap cards to hand. One can be activated the moment Kaiba moves. The other, he's just lost the ability to use until his next turn.]
I forgot to mention something important, Kaiba.
That pain you're feeling... It's no simulation. If your life points drop to zero during this duel, then I have a bonus prize for winning.
