I do hope you're all enjoying the fresh air. I know how stir crazy some of you have been getting. A little fun in the sun never hurt anyone. Maybe now we can cut down on the property damage, hm? [Her tone darkens a bit.] And the fires.

[Because clearly she's doing all of you a favor!]

And remember, don't spend all your time taking in the sun. You have studies to get to! "Only the educated are free"~

And Kai's wandering around outside too, not lost, just thinking. Mostly about what he wants to do to whoever is keeping them here. The majority of his thoughts along that line aren't very pleasant, so to distract himself he's tossing a small ice sphere from hand to hand as he walks. As such, he's really not paying attention to much else.

Here's to hoping he doesn't literally bump into anyone.

[Unfortunately, he does, and it's on Karasu's wounded side. She hisses sharply, almost inhumanly, as he does, recoiling back and cringing.]

Watch it!

Kai jumps back at the impact, dropping his sphere. His eyes widen and he freezes, holding his hands up in defense. That'll teach him to not pay attention to where he's going.

"I'm sorry! I wasn't watching- are you okay?"

It's kind of obvious she's not, but he can't ignore the sound she made.

[She exhales a little, eyes closed and waiting until that spike of agony fades, even if just to a dull throb.]

Sorry... that just really hurt.

[Breathe in, out...]

I'll be fine. Just... tried to be careful not to pop the stitches, and that surprised me.

"Stitches?"

Oh, he's a genius. Of all the people to bump into, it has to be someone already hurt. Way to go Kai. He slowly lowers his hands, frowning.

"How'd you end up needing those? Wait, nevermind, it's your business- Do you want to go see the nurse and get something for it?"

Yeah, he should've learned Curaga.

I got hurt before I came here. [She shakes her head, still favoring her side.] It's been taken care of, I don't need the nurse.

[Don't mind her, Kai, she's just a bit socially awkward. She doesn't mean to sound so growly, that's just the pain.

At least it's enough to not seem angry anymore.]

"Are- you sure? I mean, I have potions back in my room, it might help it heal to where you don't need the stitches..."

Oh, so's he. Mostly around girls. The way her voice sounds is still worrying him a little, but he's not considering anything other than, you know, ow.

"Welcome, I guess."

And what comes after that, Kai?

"Oh! I'm Kai."

Eh? Potions?

[Karasu blinks a little, clearly confused.]

You mean like... RPG healing potions?

[Her suspension of disbelief is so high that she'll accept pretty much anything now.]

Ah... I'm Karasu. Nice to meet you, Kai-kun.

"I guess you can think of them that way?"

This reminds him of his first conversation with Tadakuni. Of course, the potions came into that later. It was showing off the magic first that started everything.

"Nice to meet you too- I mean, it would've been better if I hadn't run into you like that, but."

So awkward.

"You want to try one, or do you really think you're okay?"

...Well, sure, all right. If they'll help, I'll take anything.

[Hey, if it heals up this side of hers faster...]

Well, what happened happened. I'm not bleeding more or anything, so it's no big deal.

"It should. They do pretty good for me."

Kai gives her a smile and gestures back the way he came.

"I'm in the East dorm...I'm not usually a klutz."

Usually.

"Just have a lot on my mind lately, that's all."

Ah, what's wrong? Besides the usual, I guess.

[She'll just follow Kai once he starts walking.]

"Besides the usual?" The usual would be missing home, right? Right.

"I've got someone I'm looking after here, and it's just a little tough right now. That and-"

That and he's been getting way too attached to people lately, and it's starting to bug him. But she doesn't need to hear him whine about that.

"I guess it is mostly just the usual."

Kai leads her back to his room and disappears into the bedroom for a minute, emerging with a small round bottle. The green liquid inside almost seems to shimmer.

"Ta-da! One potion. Be careful, the cork's in there pretty good."

He holds it out to her, smiling.

Being trapped here in wherever here is. A weird island with a weird voice isn't exactly a vacation spot...

[...ah, someone he's looking after? She tilts her head a little, but doesn't question it. Bakura is kind of looking after her, so she isn't sure what makes that a problem, but...

She waits obediently once they get to his room, standing in the common area until he returns. She frowns a little when she takes the bottle.]

Aren't potions supposed to be red?

[...It is a joke, Kai. She flashes a slight smile, then pulls on the cork, trying to get it out.]

...oof. You weren't kidding.

He laughs a little at that. "Only in games, I guess. Yeah, I jam them in there pretty good when I travel. Can't have them spilling everywhere, especially while I'm stuck here. Pain pills work, but not as well."

And frankly, he's done a good job of staying out of sight when he has an attack. It'd be harder to hide if all he had were pills. Not that they've been that frequent since he's been here, but still.

"You want me to get it?"

Ah, so is healing usually green? I guess that makes some sense...

[...Yeah, she hands the bottle over.]

If you could. I don't want to try to break it or anything.

"Yeah. I've never seen anything else."

Kai takes the bottle back and gives the cork a yank, making a face as it sticks. Geeze, how'd this happen?

"Hang on a second..."

He gets a better grip on the bottle and tries again, managing to tug the cork out without spilling anything. Success!

"Here you go, Karasu."

[She was almost afraid she'd have to actually take a knife to that thing. As it is, she takes the bottle and swishes it a bit, then takes a tentative sip of it. She's not exactly sure how she's supposed to drink this -- does she chug it? Or do it like this?]

Kai can't help but snicker a little at the way she approaches drinking it. It didn't taste awful or anything, but then again, she didn't know that.

"You should drink the whole thing, it'll work a lot better that way." Whether she chugs it or not doesn't matter, as long as it gets into her system. He plays with the cork in one hand, frowning at it. He'll have to check his other bottles later.

"I always thought it tasted like peppermint, what's it like to you?"

Hmm...

[She drinks it all, then. Not so much chugged as just normally, but when she's done, she smacks her lips a little.]

Tasted like... butterscotch, actually.

[shadowscall]

"Butterscotch? Wonder why I never got that."

He actually likes butterscotch. A lot. Mostly on sundaes. But. Kai holds out his hand for the bottle.

"You can sit if you want, it should be working pretty quick. So where were you before you ended up here?"

[moderndaydragon]

[She hands the bottle back, taking a seat. It really is -- she can feel the pain start to melt away already.]

Ah, I was traveling with my friends... to somewhere. And we were attacked, then I ended up here.

[She isn't too keen on revealing her other side to strangers, sorry Kai.]

My memory's actually really fuzzy, so I think I was hurt badly enough to actually lose a lot of it.

Kai sets the bottle on the kitchen counter for now and goes over to sit beside her, making sure to give her plenty of room. He's feeling more comfortable around her now, but there's still a little awkwardness there.

"That sucks. Maybe you'll remember in time."

He's gotten hurt fighting a number of times, but at least he's never lost his memory. He didn't know how he'd deal with that.

"I was with my friend 'Jem before I ended up here. We'd stopped somewhere for supplies and stayed the night, and when I woke up..."

Kai trails off and rolls his eyes.

"I've been trying to think of it like a vacation. It's not working so well anymore. But I've made some friends at least. Tadakuni and Ryou and Tajima."

[moderndaydragon]

Maybe. It's not that big a deal. I'm sure my friends are okay without me, and there's always trying to fly off here, right?

It's not like there's huge monsters or anything either. [Friends...] Yeah, those are good to have.

[shadowscall]

"I don't know how well flying would work, I can't even portal off this stupid rock." Naw, he's not bitter about that. Much. "Plus I think something went wrong with Kaiba's jet."

"You've got a point about the monsters though, I haven't seen anything like that around here."

Then again, he's never been in any of the weird rooms that throw things like that at people.

"...Do you want to be friends?"

Ah, here comes the awkward again. Kai covers it up with a small grin.
