Joint Post! Like an Old Married Couple
[From just outside the jungle's trees, near the mountainside, some bickering can be heard:]
Here. It's probably fresher than you'd like, but it's all we have.
...I can't eat that, Bakura.
You don't have the option to be picky, Malik!
No...I really can't, you fool!
Tch... I can cook it a bit more, but we have to be careful, or the smoke from the fire will give us away!
Ughh...can't you find some fruit? Just look up.
Do you want to die? If someone finds you while I'm out looking for fruit, you'll have worse problems than having to eat meat.
But Bakura... [Malik sounds a bit like he might be ill.] My stomach...
O-oy! Hold on a little longer, okay? I'll see if I can find something close by. I'll stay within earshot, so if someone approaches, scream.
Just get a couple...I don't need that much.
Be quiet, you idiot. You need to eat something. [He chomps down on the meat Malik refused to eat.]
Well? I can't eat anything if you don't go get something!
((ooc: So! Tags will come from both Bakura and Malik. If we're going to tag you with both on a turn we'll put a "1/2" in the subject line, otherwise it's just one at a time. Also since the two of them are injured, we just ask that nobody with magic healing powers comes along to heal them up and stuff. Thanks!

I don't need to use it, remember? I just need it to unlock the secrets of the past. While I'm here, it's true that it's useful... and keeping you around to use it makes sense. But that doesn't mean I can't learn to use it.
[His tone is painfully dry. What is Malik pushing at?]
What do you think I want from you, Malik Ishtar?
no subject
I don't know--something. You think you're being clever...right? That I won't figure it out?
[If Bakura did have some strange, twisted feelings for him...he could use that to his own advantage. That's what he needed to be thinking about right now.
Rishid wasn't here right now, but he could still get by on his own. After all...he was the mastermind behind everything! Rishid just did as he told him!]
no subject
[His grumpiness returns all at once with Malik's change of attitudes. Was he really implying something like that, before? ...not that it was too far from the truth.]
Are you expecting a confession? This isn't a shoujo manga, Malik. I'm not going to turn around and sparkle while exclaiming 'My heart is yours!'
Whatever I want from you... it's nothing that'll harm you.
no subject
[He doesn't even read girls' comic books...!]
S-saying something like that, Bakura...! Why was it even on your mind?!
no subject
'Not all you want from me', you said. It's obvious I'm not interested in your mind. If the Rod is no longer my tie to keep you around... there's a limited pool of options for you to assume.
And you are a teenage boy.
no subject
N-"not interested in my mind"...? But that's all--
[Malik stops suddenly. If Bakura wasn't interested in his mind, and the Rod wasn't a factor, then--
He immediately kicks Bakura off his lap.]
You're one to talk!
no subject
[He hits the floor with a thud, wincing. Jeez, way to respond to his insult! He didn't mean to piss him off that badly with that joke. Still, he sits up in an undignified manner, hair falling over his face as he stares at Malik.]
The hell are you so angry about?! And what do you mean, 'you're one to talk'?!
no subject
Well if you're not interested in my mind...
[Then that only left one other thing.]
I'm going...nnnh! [He stops suddenly, placing a hand on his head as it gave a sudden, sharp throb.]
no subject
You idiot! I was joking about your level of intelligence! Don't throw such a fuss about something like that!
[The sight of Malik reacting like that, however, causes his reaction to be quicker. Throwing himself to his feet, he moves between Malik and the door, grasping onto his shoulder with one hand.]
Sit back down, damn you! You just got back from the hospital. I don't want you to get sick.
[But being this close... it felt like there was something wrong. Some sort of energy surge. It couldn't be... could it?]
no subject
I was just going to get something to read...
[Finding out Bakura had just been calling him stupid didn't make him feel much better. He was still livid, but at least it was a step above what he originally thought.
So Malik moves back to take a seat, crossing his legs and looking coldly over at his partner.
That's right. What was he doing? Bakura was to be used. He should get on that.] Why don't you go get them for me, then?
no subject
...tch. Fine then. You wanted that motorcycle stuff, right? While I'm gone, you might as well make yourself something to eat. I stocked up the kitchen for you.
[And with that, he whirls on his heel and leaves the room, feeling more than a little annoyed. And worried.
Humans were such pains! Especially teenagers. Was he really one of them in the past? It's been too long for him to remember if he was ever this annoying.
Still, he pauses, glancing back even as the door slides shut on its own. Those headaches... could it be him?
Good mood lost, he headed towards the library like an angry whirlwind.]
1/2
[Malik lets out a dark chuckle, letting Bakura leave...]
2/2
The other teens absence had also allowed him some time to reflect on his goals, and the plans leading up to them. Maybe he should be focusing on getting off this island more...? After all, the real Pharaoh--and Rishid, his family--were waiting.
It seems Malik's good mood and confidence was returning. Maybe it was the food.]
no subject
Wordlessly, he strides past Malik to go curl up on his bed with a book of his own. Not that he cares about it or anything. He just feels frustrated as hell and needs something to focus on.]
no subject
[Even Malik can't stay angry when he sees so many books on his favourite not-Egyptian subject lying around! Pushing his food aside, he digs into the first one, not even noticing that Bakura leaves for the bed.
...It doesn't take long into reading before Malik starts talking.]
Bakura! They made a motorcycle with a giant front wheel...how could anybody even ride this thing?!
no subject
[That was the last voice he wanted to hear right now. But of course, Malik couldn't even read quietly.
He let his own book drop onto his face in a gesture of frustration. It takes him a moment to respond, and when he does, his voice is slightly muffled by the book.]
I don't know, Malik. I've never ridden a bike before, motor or not.
no subject
Ohh...so the original motorcycle was actually steampowered...in the 1860s. I never knew they were so old...
[Flipping through some pages.] Ah...look at this model! I want it...!
no subject
[Bakura rolls over, letting the book fall to the ground with a thud, as he stares at Malik.
It's... kind of adorable. He's never seen Malik so excited over anything before. It's a pity the subject bores the hell out of him. Maybe the kid's in a good enough mood for him to make a joke.]
Heh. Maybe when we get back, you should show me what I'm missing.
no subject
[When Bakura makes that little proposition, he looks up and over at him with a toothy grin.]
Keh heh...after we defeat the Pharaoh, I wouldn't mind going on a well-deserved joy ride.
no subject
[Right now, Malik looks almost... ordinary. He looks like an everyday (if far too pretty) teenager who isn't driven by hatred and anger. He's not quite sure he likes it. Seeing him happy is one thing, but this is almost like looking at a different person.]
I'd make a joke, but I don't feel like ruining your mood right now. What do you even enjoy so much about those things? They're just machines, right?
no subject
[Malik turns the book towards Bakura, showing off a picture of the bike he had been looking at.]
...The feeling of the wind in your hair, and the rumbling of the engine between under fingertips. It's fast and powerful...keh...and I mean, just look at it!
This bike represents everything I've ever wanted. ...Out of material things, anyway.
no subject
[Getting up, he crosses over to where Malik is, taking the book briefly to look at it.]
It doesn't look all that impressive to me... but I guess it must look better in real life.
[Though Malik's description of it doesn't sound too bad. Powerful, huh? Interesting. He speaks almost absent-mindedly after a moment.]
I think... I used to ride horses. But I never really made the transfer from horses to machines... so when they stopped being commonly used, I just started walking around whenever I needed to. I've never even learnt to drive.
no subject
Horses, huh? Well...I could always show you how to drive. Keh...but you're not touching my bike. So we'd have to find you one of your own.
I think once you have your hands on the motor...you'll understand. It's not unlike a horse. It's a powerful being that you have to tame!
no subject
Heheh. I'll bow to you on this one, 'Sensei'. Learning a skill like that might be interesting.
no subject
Keh. That makes me wonder if we could find a bike around here. It would be useful in exploring more of this island. But we'd have to get an all-terrain one to do that. Hmm...
[He takes a thoughtful bite of his previously forgotten salad.]
