[Event] It couldn't last forever.
[The lights going out had certainly surprised Henry, but he had been prepared for such a thing. He didn't fully understand the "electricity" that this place seemed to have, and thus, lacking that understanding, he had decided to prepare in case it disappeared.
Just like it had now.
Candles in that old-style holder and lit, Henry at least had some visibility despite the pressing darkness. Making sure to store away the others (at least after making sure Eleanor and Jack had ones themselves) he's started off into the Campus, looking for anyone lost in this darkness to help them find their way back to their dorms, or wherever else it was they wanted to go.]

[Ryou has no idea about any of this. There's a rustling sound as he presses something into Henry's hands.]
Here. We were eating these for breakfast, but we saved you some.

[Hm? Henry carefully runs his hands along... whatever he was just handed, trying to figure out what he was just handed.]
What is it?
[...Smells sugary. He already approves.]

They were carefully wrapped, from what I could tell, so they're still edible.
[Jack's voice is calm. He's tried them to make sure they're safe (and also because he was hungry). They're good for a treat, though he still prefers a more meaty breakfast.]

[Henry takes a bite into the sweet... and then promptly devours it, the only hint of its swift demise being the crumpling of paper that comes far too soon.]
...I might have to look into hoarding these later.

They go really well with ice cream or fruit. You can find bulk packs of them pretty easily here too!
Hm... Where...?
[He knows he felt that weight in his pocket earlier. Aha! Just going to click on the lighter so they can at least have a minor light in the area. Where did he even get this thing?]
no subject
If you please?]

[He stands at that, rolling his shoulder a bit to pop it.]
Let's grab what we need and make haste outside.
[There's a heavy tone of PLEASE in his voice.]

[This wasn't his type of darkness. Not really. It was oppressive and unnatural, and he couldn't command it. What a pain... Quickly redressing in his armor and reaffixing his sword, he heads to the door and unlocks it.]

[Grabbing his sweater, he folds it over one arm as he neatly gets rid of the profiterole wrappers. Even if it's unused, he won't leave this place messy.]

...I wonder if it's truly been days since the sun has risen.

[Jack's quiet answer is firm and calm. He gestures for Ryou to help him gather the wood for a fire, careful not to burden him too much with his injuries.]

It reminds me of the Player Killer. When we were on Duelist Kingdom, a man was hired by the tournament leader to eliminate people that might be troublesome. Yugi-kun was one of those people, and he challenged the Player Killer to a duel to prevent one of our other friends being eliminated. Mai-san had already lost to him, but Yugi-kun challenged him anyway, wagering his life to sweeten the deal.
But the guy used a trick to cover his half of the field in darkness, so Yugi-kun couldn't see anything. Even if he used his monsters to try to light it up with attacks, that only wasted his turn.

[It sounds plausible enough to him. But he's not quite sure what kind of monster could bring that sort of thing. Unnatural darkness, that was simple enough, but to stop the very sun?
The Dark Magician can only reply confusedly to his master's unspoken question, causing Henry to frown.]
no subject
If that's the case, I wonder if the sun has actually been stopped, or if we just can't see or feel it. If there's some kind of field over the island that's keeping it from us, that would explain the stars being so weird.

[He glances over, deciding to confirm.]
Jack: does anything feel strange out here besides the temperature?
no subject
No... Nothing that I can sense.
no subject
On the one hand, that means that we have two to worry about -- one that may cause us to freeze if the sun stays gone much longer, and one that's making it nearly impossible to live in the building. On the other hand, that means that the one in the building isn't powerful enough to do both... and outside is fairly safe, as far as the darkness goes.
no subject
[And that means the animals will as well. Which means they'd be entirely dependant on the food supplies inside the building.
Which would mean there was no way to avoid going back inside.]

[Henry drums his fingers on the hilt of his sword, thinking. But "plantlife" gives him an idea. Moving his hand to his deck belt, he lets his Deck Leader armor wash over him, then flicks his hand to summon a few he thinks might be able to help.
The two teenage girls appear after a moment, looking over to him curiously, alongside the typical Dark Magician.]
Aussa, Eria, see if you can discover anything in the forest. Dark Magician, examine what you can around, inside, and above the building. Let me know what you find.
[The monsters confirm the orders happily, the Magician disappearing back inside the building while Aussa and Eria quickly go off into the wilds.]

[Woah. He's just going to sit on his butt, where he just fell, and stare at Henry. That startled the hell out of him. Even though Henry had mentioned summoning and he had a vague notion that it was possible (mostly thanks to Malik), it was still shocking to see.]
...ow...
[He had automatically put his hands out to catch his fall. That hurt his fingers. His arms were shaking a little from the pain.]
That's amazing! I've never seen that before.
no subject
Are you all right? What happened?
[He registers that last part a bit late, then chuckles.]
I had to practice to be able to fully draw the Charmers' spirits to me like the rest of my creatures, but they're already being a great help and interesting friends to have around.
no subject
I wasn't expecting that, so I fell... but my hands are still burnt, so when I caught myself, it hurt. That's all...
[It's an understatement, that it hurt. The reason his arms are shaking is just from the effort and pain of supporting him when he fell. Still, he manages to sit for a moment. His fingers are twitching a little from the pain, but that's about it.]
The only thing I've ever seen close to that is all done by technology. But it's just holograms.

Hold out your hand, Ryou.
