There are some people with no concept of an "indoor voice"
[To say Campus was the worst place ever to Judai would be an understatement. The no-classes thing? That was fantastic! He barely paid attention in class as it was, so not having to go at all felt like the best thing ever at first.
And then he realized the problem. It wasn't just the classes that weren't around.
Nothing ever happened here.
There wasn't any kind of organized events or fun dormmates to talk to or even a speech he could doze off during. Classes had been dull, but at least they had been something. This... utter nothing at all was boring. What kind of school didn't have a specialized dueling area, anyway?! This place sucked!
If there was one thing Judai couldn't really stand, it was being bored.]
GAAAAAAH!
[Which is why he's taking his frustrations out by yelling in the middle of the hallway.]
Doesn't anyone around here actually duel?! Or even play games?!

[Judai grins brightly, stuffing his hands into his jacket pockets.]
Go grab your deck and duel disk! I'll wait at the courtyard for you.

[A moment or two later, he's in the courtyard, Malik's duel-disk set firmly on his arm. He won't mind him borrowing it, he's sure.]
Here!
no subject
[Judai shows him how to use the duel disk, and even with that unbreakable energy it's surprisingly easy to understand. Probably from being so simple himself.]
...and just like that! Got it?
no subject
[He nods seriously, firmly. Judai's a surprisingly good teacher like this.]

[...The "duel," if it can be called that, barely lasts a few turns. For as thick as he seems, Judai's pretty competent with his deck, which means Ryou is pretty much utterly crushed without him breaking a sweat.
But when it ends...]
Gotcha, Ryou! But that was a fun duel!

[There's a happy, cute little noise as Winged Kuriboh's spirit appears, nodding in agreement and floating just above Judai's shoulder.]
Duel some more with them, and I'll bet we'll be rivals, too!
[The way he says the word is cheerful and happy; to Judai, rivals and friends can be the same thing, and friendly rivals were always the best!]

Trust in his deck... That's true, he's always convinced he won't win. And the changes to his deck make it more uncertain for him to figure them out.]
You really think so?
[His voice is cheerful and happy, filled with the gentle joy of someone who's completely content. Even if he lost, he can improve... and maybe some day, he'll be as good as this boy.]
Thank you, Judai-kun! I'll do my best!
no subject
[That's... a surprisingly intelligent observation, but it stemmed from dueling, so it's little surprise Judai knows it.]
Oh, but don't forget the most important rule! When you're dueling... make sure to have fun with it! If you're enjoying yourself, it doesn't matter if you win or lose!
[Not that Judai loses often, but hey...]
no subject
[The same thing as if people don't talk... no wonder he's struggled to win. He's been so used to standing along that it took Yugi and the others to teach him how to rely on others again. In the same way, he has to learn how to trust his deck. That heart... those feelings... He can't help but grin.]
I won't forget! Next time we duel, I'll try even harder!
no subject
[He grins brightly and widely, giving Ryou a thumbs-up with a pleased nod. It's always good to see someone get confidence in dueling!]
And if you need any help, just come ask!

How warm these feelings are...]

Hey, you cook?

[Yes, he's been living on snacks. It's been an interesting few weeks.]

[This is a hand around your wrist, Judai.
And it is tugging you gently towards the dorms.]
no subject
Where are we going?
no subject
[...wait that sounds malevolent. He flashes a grin over his shoulder.]
And then I'm going to make you a big meal. What's your favourite food?
no subject
This? This is the biggest damn grin ever. Oh Ryou, you have just brought yourself home a puppy that will never, ever, leave you.]
Fried shrimp, definitely!
[You're lucky he doesn't know where you live. He might be dragging you there if he did.]
