CAMPUS WIDE EVENT: EVERYTHING AND THE KITCHEN SINK
[Hopefully everybody likes waking up outside.
Because as it were, in the middle of the night when everybody had been asleep or lulled into a sudden one by the sheer weight of the air around them...the Campus disappeared in its entirety. Left behind was only the cool surface of the concrete foundation.
For now it seems the residents were left to fend for themselves in the wilderness of the island. Not even the voice from over the intercom would comfort them.]
((ooc: the school has disappeared, along with all the NPCs and everything that was inside! no opt-out areas this time around. The temperature is cool during the day, and colder at night.
The event will last until October 20th, and I'll post a closer to signify it. Everything will be returned to its rightful place then.))

Aw, shit. [He was getting used to sleeping inside again, too. Wonder how long it'll be gone for. What if it's gone forever?] Aw, shiiit.
[But after a moment of lamenting the loss of nice shelter, Roy reminds himself that it's better being stuck on a nice island than a barren wasteland filled with mutants. So it's not long before he's poking around the forest gathering large leaves and twigs into a pile, along with rocks and some other crap, in preparation for making a shelter. It was sure to be a long day...or week, or whatever.]
no subject
Vulpes pauses nearby, watching him.]
You'd probably be safer sleeping in a tree.
no subject
[His response is hesitant, still incredibly unsure about this Legion guy after everything Boone had said about them.]
I don't do so well sleepin' in high places. I move in my sleep a lot.
no subject
[And "luckily" for Roy, Vulpes happens to need someone for just that purpose as well! It's difficult to know who can be trusted around this place, but he has known enemies... sleeping outside alone isn't in Vulpes' best interest and he's well aware of it.]
And I suppose you'll need help finishing this shelter before nightfall.
[The legionary stands by after speaking, waiting for Roy to dare protest.]
no subject
Look... [He drops the large branch to the ground; tough guy mode activating.] I know what you Legion guys are part of, ya dig?
[Though it was true that sleeping alone in the wild was unsafe. And given Roy only has about a week of experience plus however long he's going to end up stuck outside here, it's quite a terrifying idea at that. But this guy...surely he was better off alone?]
no subject
Do you? Then you'll know that having us as allies provides you with a great advantage.
[And contrarily, having them as enemies is as good as a death sentence. Here, it's a bit more difficult for him to back up his threats, but maybe this one won't think so.]
no subject
That being said, all that goes through Roy's head for a good half second is "shiiiiit". He doesn't want to make enemies right now. Or ever, really. He just wanted to live to see the next day, and the next.
Besides, maybe it was better so he could keep a close eye on him. He sure as hell would be looking over his shoulder twenty four seven if he sent Vulpes away.]
...As long as that advantage ain't a knife stickin' out of my head. Fine.
[Clearly a begrudging acceptance.]
no subject
[For once, Vulpes would prefer not to make another enemy. Having people despise you is fine with an army at your back. But more or less alone, without a weapon? Vulpes knows when to take a conciliatory tone when he has to. And as long as Roy hasn't done anything to harm him, there's no particular reason not to work together.]
Now, as for your shelter... [He looks over at the pile of random bits and pieces Roy's gathered from the forest.] This won't do. We'll be exposed on all sides. We at least need something solid behind us.
no subject
It ain't like we got sheet metal lyin' around here or nothin'.
no subject
He watches Roy idly for a bit, his legs casually hanging down off the branch. After a minute, he whistles to get his attention.]
no subject
So the whistle caught him off guard.
A hand goes to his holstered weapon as he looks up to where the whistle came from. A guy. Sitting in a tree. Watching him.]
...Uhh, yeah?
no subject
What's with all the garbage? Heh heh.
no subject
[If he thought some branches and leaves were garbage, imagine what he'd think seeing his first shelter. Roy will take the fresh smell of non irradiated nature over the rust and rotted wood smell he's used to.
His hand remains rested on his gun, just for the moment.]
Make it a habit out of watchin' people from high places, guy?
no subject
[Bakura swings his legs idly, obviously uncaring about the fact he might have annoyed the other man. If anything, he looks complacent.]
The best way to survey a situation is from above!
no subject
[Maybe mildly annoyed, mostly because he's still not sure if this guy is really a threat or not. It was kind of hard to observe him from this angle. But he hadn't attacked him yet, at least.
He finally does remove his hand from his holster, for what its worth.]
Yeah, true enough. Survey anythin' interesting?
no subject
His amusement is clear in his voice.] Just the steady swell of panic! People really don't know what to do with themselves when they're thrust out of their element, do they?
no subject
Take the four walls away and it's like their whole world fell apart, huh?
[He actually sympathizes with them.
Roy takes a couple of steps back from the tree in an attempt to get a better look at the stranger.]
Guessin' you're used to a lack of walls around ya, huh?
no subject
[Bakura shifts, suddenly dropping down from his perch to land on the ground below. He takes a few casual steps towards Roy, the size of his robe making him appear much larger and intimidating than he is.
Although given his build, he was still a bit intimidating even without it.]
no subject
[Although Roy takes a step back at the sudden drop, and then a couple more when Bakura steps towards him, he retains a casual enough demeanor. Though his lips pull back into a bit of a line as he eyes the man up and down. He wasn't sure what to make of him yet.]
Well you must feel right at home. [Not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing, really.
Roy walks around the large pile of leaves and branches and sits on a rock right beside it. Honestly, the move was just an excuse to put more distance between the two.]
Got a name?
no subject
[Bakura revels in that little back-step Roy makes. It's because of it that he walks over, taking a seat adjacent from Roy and his piss-poor pile of a shelter.]
Hehe, a name... Of course! Any King does--and the King of Thieves, the Great Bakura is no exception!
[That gun...that gun, that gun! He could see it from here, calling to him.]
no subject
God, the people you meet here.]
Oh, well...that's quite a title there, guy.
[After a moment Roy pulls a knife from the inside pocket of his jacket and grabs a large piece of wood. He starts cutting off excess leaves and small branches from the wood, wanting to get started on his shelter. And quite possibly wanting to let this guy know that his protection doesn't just stop at a gun. Even as he works he's all too aware of his surroundings. It was more about appearing casual.]
Pretty ballsy goin' around announcin' the fact that you're a thief, ain't it?
[That gun indeed just sits in its holster, and all Roy can think is that he really hopes he doesn't have to use it.]
no subject
It's almost enough to make him want to throw his knife at Roy, but he resists for fear of that gun.]
I have nothing to fear from men like you, and I want people to know exactly who I am!
[That way they'll know who to curse in the afterlife! He holds back that line, not wanting to make Roy too suspicious.]
no subject
"Men like me", huh?
[There's a light shrug; he's not sure what's meant by that. But the fact that he's not seen as even a possible threat (not even enough to hide the fact that you're a thief?) just makes him nervous. Isn't that how raiders operate? With complete lack of fear? It just makes them all the more scary.]
Well, I know who you are. Now what?
[He finally looks up at Bakura, visage not giving anything away.]

You know what you're doing here?
[He's hoping he knows more than Boone does. He isn't really too great at living off the land.]
no subject
Ain't never made shelter outta nature before.
[He goes back to his pile and starts to assemble...something. He's getting there. Just starting off by laying some large branches flat side by side. See? He's making a floor.]
Can't be that hard.
