CAMPUS WIDE EVENT: EVERYTHING AND THE KITCHEN SINK
[Hopefully everybody likes waking up outside.
Because as it were, in the middle of the night when everybody had been asleep or lulled into a sudden one by the sheer weight of the air around them...the Campus disappeared in its entirety. Left behind was only the cool surface of the concrete foundation.
For now it seems the residents were left to fend for themselves in the wilderness of the island. Not even the voice from over the intercom would comfort them.]
((ooc: the school has disappeared, along with all the NPCs and everything that was inside! no opt-out areas this time around. The temperature is cool during the day, and colder at night.
The event will last until October 20th, and I'll post a closer to signify it. Everything will be returned to its rightful place then.))

Joke or not, he's still amused, even if he really shouldn't be right now. Malik's attitude toward Karasu is pissing him off some, but damn it, he's going to try and behave.
He watches her get up and glances over at the carcasses. Maybe he should get a dagger or something, in case this ever happens again. Keyblades weren't good for skinning things.
Hitting certain people in the face, on the other hand...
"You two want any help, or should I just keep the fire from going out?"
1/2
You're not going to eat those, are you? [He pops a few more berries into his mouth.] I won't kiss you for a week if you do.
[Mm...Kai had said something, hadn't he? Those powers of his could be useful, so he'll play nice.] You should...I could use them to decorate the walls of our room!
2/2
[Bakura shoots Malik a glare.]
Malik-sama, you didn't have to come. If you can't act like an adult and get along with people, go back to our camp on your own. I've got work to do here.
[He's not even going to get started on the idiocy of pretending someone in the group wasn't there.]
As to the animals, we need the skins. I'm not going to promise not to eat them, but right now, I have bigger priorities than your damn picky tastes.
[He heaves an irritated sigh, eyes narrowed.]
That works, Karasu-chan... I'll sort out the smaller ones first.
Kai-kun, do what you like. I can show you what to do if you've got a knife.
no subject
When Bakura comes over to help, she lowers her voice, just enough for him to hear.]
What do you want me to do, Bakura-kun? He doesn't want me to be nice to him and because he's your friend, I'm not going to be mean or anything to him. But I'm not really sure what else to do besides ignore him.
no subject
Mostly.
"Guess I'll just tend the fire, then." Is it bad that he's sort of relieved he won't have to help with that part? He wasn't kidding when he said he'd gotten used to eating already dead food. The hunting part hadn't been bad, but it had been a while since he'd carved anything up. He didn't really miss it.
1/2
Whatever, I'm going. [He'd miss the fire, and he really didn't want to walk back to camp alone...but he wanted to be here even less! At least he knew Bakura was his, so he didn't have to worry about him and Karasu.
Malik gets to his feet.]
Have fun, Bakura-kun! [And then he heads for the exit.]
2/2
[He tosses the words back almost thoughtlessly, watching Malik leave. Following him right now isn't a good move. It shows too much submission to his will and too little self-respect. At least he can cool off like this.
Once he's gone, he sighs and responds to Karasu's words, not bothering to be too quiet. He doesn't care if Kai hears, after all.]
I don't know. He's an asshole, and one that's prone to rejecting everything... But ignoring him entirely isn't going to solve anything. It just makes things worse.
[God, these immature young people... He pinches the bridge of his nose in irritation.]
It's a sad day when Kai, of all people, is the most mature person here...
[Sinking down near to the two of them, he draws out the ornate dagger from its hidden sheath under his pyjamas and starts to skin the rabbit with it carefully.]
no subject
[Oh come on, Bakura. Karasu bites her lip at that, saying nothing more as she just sits down, as well, glancing at the rabbit bodies with a barely audible sigh. Well, she sure made herself look good, didn't she?]
no subject
He lets out a sharp laugh at Bakura's last comment, and a few 'random' sparks drift off the fire.
"I try."
Wanna see real maturity? It's that non-existent portal that could be under your ass any second.
no subject
[He focuses on his work, not even looking up as the fire sparks. Sorry, Kai. His fear of fire has diminished steadily the more his memories of Ra's attack fade.
The knife easily peels the skin from the rabbit he's working on, deft cuts slicing it off with ease and for once even the sight of the bloody meat he carefully deposits to one side doesn't cheer him up.]
I'll be going once I'm done with these, anyway. So you two can have your privacy.
Kai, do you have acess to salt water near here? I know the caves feed into the ocean, but not how accessible it is.
no subject
[Eh? Privacy? Karasu blinks, then laughs a little, running a hand through her hair and shaking her head.]
Kai-kun and I aren't like that or anything. We're just friends too.
no subject
Oh Light.
"I'm not sure, I haven't actually checked out this area much. Been around, but not-"
He looks up and waves a hand absently. "Not enough to map out."
Damn, there's that twist again. Ignoring it, no problem. Someday, maybe. Kai sighs inwardly before deciding to not be a complete ass.
"Hey Bakura, thanks for helping out. Really."
no subject
[He pauses, surprised, but nods. He didn't expect maturity of any kind from a boy as young as Kai.
...god, his inner thoughts made him feel old. He was, really, at more than three thousand years of age, but it took being around a bunch of arguing teenagers to make him feel it.]
It's not a problem. We're all in the same boat here.
[Right, he should probably explain.]
Salt water's best to preserve the meat and it's probably the best source of salt to process these. They need to be salted thoroughly within a few hours, or else they're going to be pretty useless. As it is, they shouldn't be used so soon after skinning, but we don't have much choice, especially if this cold spell keeps up.
[They shouldn't be kept too warm either, but they need to be dried out fast, which is why he's near the fire.]
We don't have the proper materials for this, so improvising will have to do. It'll be warm at least.
[He carefully stretches the skin, using the flat of the blade to scrape off the inner skin of it, before moving onto the next rabbit on the pile.]

It kind of sucks having to admit to himself that maybe it's good having Bakura around, at least for this. He blinks at the word 'cave' and turns to Karasu.
"Hey, take this. It'll follow, don't worry."
Say hi to a little flame floating within reach.
no subject
[If it's to do with death, he probably has knowledge of it... but it helps that he was alive when it was common practice to salt and dry meat you caught to store up for the winter.
He watches the flame with interest, though he doesn't stop his work.]
That'll help.
no subject
[Karasu smiles at the little flame, giving Kai a bright smile.]
Thank you! That'll help a lot!
[And with that, she heads into the cave, the flicker of the flame disappearing around a bend before too long.]
no subject
Ugh.
Yep, flames are more pleasant, back to staring at that and contemplating if he should go fetch his shirt. Naw, it's at least useful for carrying things.
no subject
[Setting the meat aside, he brings the blade to his mouth, licking the residual blood from it with an amused expression.]
no subject
Why did he have to look over just then. Note to self, quit looking at people when they speak to him, he'll miss seeing things like that.
"So."
Yep, there's a good conversation starter. He's not even sure he wants to be having one, but it might be better than just sitting here. Maybe.
Probably not.
no subject
[His voice is filled with amusement to the point of being joking. Of course he doesn't expect respect or even friendliness from this kid. He's sure that he barely tolerates his presence.
After all, this was the kid who found the thought of his host being left alone without him to be a pleasant one. What a fool... as if Ryou could survive on his own in this world.]
no subject
Or Creepers.
"So I'm not sure how to start a conversation with you. A civil one, I mean." He rolls his eyes heavenward before picking up a small rock to play with. "Maybe sitting here in silence is better."
Because he can suddenly think of at least two subjects he'd be happy to avoid.
no subject
But none of his assholeish ones.]
You don't have to be civil. Karasu-chan isn't here to hear, and I'm hard to seriously offend! Though, heh... I guess that will be less fun for you.
no subject
"Honestly, maybe I'm just too tired to be a jerk." Or too much of one. Kai drops the rock and gets to his feet, going to fetch his shirt-turned-bag. Covering up the other subject he'd like to avoid is suddenly a priority.
no subject
[Bakura pouts, looking almost as childish as his body usually does. If Kai's tired, there's no point in trying to rile him up, is there? Stupid humans and their stupid need for stupid shit like sleep.]

Sorry for my absence! My mind decided to die on possble responses for a while.
