CAMPUS WIDE EVENT: EVERYTHING AND THE KITCHEN SINK

[Hopefully everybody likes waking up outside.

Because as it were, in the middle of the night when everybody had been asleep or lulled into a sudden one by the sheer weight of the air around them...the Campus disappeared in its entirety. Left behind was only the cool surface of the concrete foundation.

For now it seems the residents were left to fend for themselves in the wilderness of the island. Not even the voice from over the intercom would comfort them.]

((ooc: the school has disappeared, along with all the NPCs and everything that was inside! no opt-out areas this time around. The temperature is cool during the day, and colder at night.

The event will last until October 20th, and I'll post a closer to signify it. Everything will be returned to its rightful place then.))

[What a strange and interesting world you must come from, Heat... A world where you can't understand the existence of something that isn't fighting. A world of demons. He's fascinated by it already.]

The SDF is the Self-Defense Force. They're the only people legally permitted to carry weapons, since we don't have an army anymore. And only then in order to defend the country if it gets attacked. But other than a few rogues groups... there's no fighting at home. It's boring as hell.

[Heh... Heat is oddly cute like this. Like an awkward puppy who's trying to look tough.]

Is that so...? Well, I'm grateful for your Sera... and also for your reflexes. It takes a lot of effort to stop mid-strike like that, doesn't it?

So you have a warrior tribe that only fights in self defense? And everyone else are all... [He pauses, trying to think of the right word. The concept was alien to him, and yet distantly familiar at the same time.] ...Civilians?

It does, so you'd better be glad I was paying attention. [And it also helps that he'd already found and devoured a couple of deer so the hunger was more in control than it would have been otherwise.]

That's right. That's the way our country works. I wouldn't mind learning to defend myself, but the chance isn't exactly there, you know?

[He nods firmly.]

They really don't let you learn how to fight? ...If your'e serious about wanting to learn defend yourself, I can teach you.

[He just shrugs in response to the other comment. Heat doesn't keep score with those kind of things. And he didn't know how to handle himself in sappy moments anyway.]

They don't. In fact, they do their best to make sure nobody's around who can fight.

[Hoh? That was an interesting offer. He nods, firmly.]

...If you would, I'd appreciate it. I'm fed up with being defenseless in this place.

[He draws his lips back in an expression that's almost a snarl.] Sounds like they just want to make sure they can control everyone.

You don't look like you can throw a punch. So when I get my guns back, I'll teach you how to shoot.

[While rarely used, it was standard for everyone in the Embryon to carry a handgun. He could let Bakura practice with that, until he could find one for the kid to keep.]

[He looks that weak to this guy? That just makes his lip curl in irritation. No, best not to aggravate the guy just yet.]

It's true, that they want to control everyone. Law and order means much less hassle for them, you know? Especially if they can't fight back.

[Heat notes the curled lip, but rather than getting aggravated he smirks. So the fluffball was annoyed by that huh? Good. He can work with that.]

And if you're serious, we can work on building your muscle. It'll take longer, but it's better than a gun.

[The other comment makes him frown again, however.] They sound even worse than the damn Karma Temple.

It's pathetic, really. They don't have the strength to control people normally, so they make sure that people don't have the strength or will to fight. But it won't last forever. Societies like that never do.

[Oops, his age is showing a little. He shakes his head to clear it of his thoughts, resting a hand on his hip.]

Of course I'm serious.

The Karma Temple learned that the hard way. Sounds like this "SDF" or whatever it's called will too.

[He doesn't notice anything strange about how Bakura is talking. How could he, when he never had a childhood?]

[If his demonic form had two heads, did it also have two stomachs? And how complicated were his insides to direct that? Was he the demonic equivalent to a cow?]

There's plenty of big game here, at least. I know there's at least bears.

I know, they're some of the best food around here. Not as tender or satisfying as human meat, but there's a lot more on them.

[And Heat just admitted to cannibalism as casually as one would compare cuts of meat at a grocery store.]

...I wouldn't advise confessing to eating humans so easily. It's going to get a lot of people turning against you.

Hmph. You sound like Argilla. What's wrong with eating the bastards I would've had to kill anyway?

Nothing's wrong with it! [Like he's going to condemn it...] But what is wrong is getting caught doing it. Most ordinary people would run away screaming or try to kill you for it. On top of that, if people start dying here, with such a small population, fingers will automatically point at you whether you did it or not.

It's fine if you feel like you want to watch your back everywhere you go, but it'll make things uncomfortable for your comrades if they come here.
