Announcement 001
[Whether you're waking up in the clinic just now, or have already done so and are now wandering the halls, a sudden screech of microphone feedback blares over the speakers before fading back out.
A moment later, a woman clears her throat. Her voice is husky and mature, but still feminine, and overall she sounds very authoritative...if not a bit sarcastic.]
Good evening, and welcome to the new school year. I hope your arrival was a pleasant one, last year everybody threw-up from motion sickness, it was quite messy.
[There's a long pause as she seems to think, or perhaps just let any anticipated bustling chatter calm down.] Now, you're all intelligent human beings...for the most part. But I suppose I'll pretend I'm talking to the insipid uneducated masses for a moment; it shouldn't prove too difficult.
[She clears he throat again.] In every hall, you shall find a small intercom. You may use that to ask me any questions after my announcements and "privately" converse. Now, if you head North down one of the halls near the clinic in the Central Wing and keep going, you'll eventually come to either the West or East Dorm Wings, depending on which fork in the road you chose. There you'll find all necessary bunk beds and spare socks.
So, make sure you're all well rested for class in the morning; we wouldn't want to get a failing grade now would we?
[And with that, there's another burst of feedback before her announcement abruptly ends. Anybody who had been wandering the halls will notice a distinct lack of...well, anybody else aside from new arrivals, the Nurse, and the Lunch Lady.
The strange woman over the loudspeakers may have mentioned classes, but the school seemed completely devoid of any teachers to provide those classes. In fact, a lot of things seemed...off.]

[Unbeknownst to him, Link is leading the two toward the West Wing of the building. No one way appears particularly right, so he may as well choose one at random.
Glancing to his side at Pyrrha, he just misses the small hidden smile. Link does admittedly enjoy a compliment here and there, so he's happy to hear that she thinks he's brave.
The talk about how being a slave isn't all that bad though... that sounds very peculiar to him. He thought being a slave was a pretty black and white issue. Why would anyone want to belong to someone else? Then they could do whatever they wanted to you! It's just like having an evil tyrant as king.]
Don't you think that man might, er, not have really been thinking about what was best for you? [He bites his lip, shooting Pyrrha another sideways glance. Link doesn't want to judge someone about the way they live their life, and yet...] Is being someone's item really what you want?
no subject
[Pyrrha was told that she has a purpose in life too, once. Unfortunately, that purpose was to bring death and destruction to everyone around her. ...Quite different than Link's.]
[Of course, Pyrrha hasn't yet accepted that destiny. She would never wish for such awful things to happen because of her.... But... unfortunately, things never really seem to turn out the way Pyrrha wants.]
W-what I want...? [Pyrrha blinks; looking over to Link as though the mere concept were foreign. She quickly averts her gaze once she realizes that Link's gaze was upon her, however- and looks down to the floor instead.] I...
...I... didn't think much of it.... [A pause.] I don't like to get my hopes up by dwelling on the things I want, really. I just... I just knew that I didn't want to be alone or hurt anymore. So it... it was okay. ...I suppose. [But... now she's a bit uncertain. Something about Link's question is making her second-guess the truth of her own words...]
[After a moment of hesitation.] ...Or... maybe... it's not okay. I- I don't know, but it's... easier. I don't want to upset anyone...
[Oh dear. Now she's rambling on about her thoughts, and making herself seem more and more weak in the process. Pyrrha clears her throat a bit.] But it... it's fine. So... um... [Trying to think of a way to change the subject now...]
no subject
[And it's a purpose he can be really proud of. Until recently he never knew about the world outside of the forest. But now he knows all about it, and how great the different types of people are. Link would like nothing more than to help them out.
It sounds like the situation isn't nearly so straightforward for Pyrrha, however. He could have related before. When he didn't have a fairy, he did feel lonely in a way that the others couldn't understand.]
Maybe you just need to make some friends.
[Link claps Pyrrha on the shoulder, then quickly pulls his hand back with a muttered apology when he realizes that might not be the most appropriate thing to do. He shouldn't presume that it's okay to touch her in any manner.]
Do you, uh, want to be friends? [He looks ahead again, frowning thoughtfully after he asks. It really does sound like he's butting into her personal life, doesn't it? Navi would probably be annoyed with him again for getting into other peoples' business when it wasn't necessary.]
no subject
[The truth is that Pyrrha has made several friends throughout her lifetime. It's keeping them that's the hard part. It's always only a matter of time before they betray her trust, or begin to avoid her, or... meet an unfortunate fate. Really, it would probably be much more sensible and responsible of her to avoid making friends.]
[-But as Link touches her shoulder, Pyrrha jumps slightly in surprise and immediately stares down at the floor; her face going bright pink at the contact- as well as the question. Pyrrha's heart flutters in her chest; and despite herself, she feels.... happy, at the prospect. The young woman continues to shyly stare down at the floor as she responds in her usual soft voice.] I...
[Again, a tiny smile is hidden- by the pale strands of her hair.] ...I would like that.
no subject
Great!
[Admittedly, it's a relief to have a friend in this strange place where he doesn't even have his fairy for company. He's always had Navi throughout his time away from the forest, and to be entirely alone anywhere else gives him a distinctly uncomfortable feeling.
Soon they arrive at a flight of stairs heading upward. Link leads the two in that direction, pleased when the stairs bring them to the roof of the building.]
Okay, keep your eye out for anything unusual. If you see what looks like a glowing orb of light, let me know.
no subject
[After climbing the stairs, Pyrrha steps out onto the campus roof and feels a gust of wind blow through her hair. She tucks a few stray strands behind her ear and looks up at the clear sky, before nodding to Link's words.]
An orb of light... O-okay. [Is that what a fairy looks like, then? Come to think of it; she has no idea what to expect from meeting one.]
[Stepping out toward the end of the roof, Pyrrha blinks as she looks out across the campus grounds. This place really is huge. Distantly, she can see streets and trees and lamp-posts... It's odd; the strangely neat and man-made look of everything. Where ARE they, exactly? She doesn't recognize the area or architecture of this place at all...]
[Blinking.] ...um, Link?
[She points down to the sidewalks.] There are... people....
[From so high up, it's hard to make out any details about them- but there are definitely a few
NPCpeople out there... just... casually going about their days.]no subject
That's weird...
[None of them seem too bothered by their situation. Link does also notice the strangeness of the architecture, but he's used to being in unfamiliar places. It doesn't bother him much.]
Do you think we should try and talk to them?
[Though finding Navi is still his priority. She would know what to do... she always knows the right path. Fairies are mystical that way.]
no subject
...It might help us if anyone has seen Navi, right?
[The girl raises a hand; trying to call attention to their position as she waves an arm.]
H-hello...! [Her soft voice calls out, but it's obvious that either no one can hear her, she's being ignored.]
no subject
[Link lets Pyrrha try shouting down to the people, but when it becomes clear her voice isn't carrying, he gives it a try. No... that isn't working either. But when he'd been outside earlier, he hadn't been able to get that far outside! Everywhere were barriers of some sort. Maybe there's another way around them?]
I guess we're too far for them to hear us. Come on, let's keep looking.
[He makes his way slowly around the perimeter of the roof, searching for that familiar orb of light.]
I don't know why we would be separated. [He tries to keep the worry out of his voice, but it's still obvious he isn't taking this separation very calmly.]
no subject
[Pyrrha doesn't think much of it, though. She merely sighs and goes back to exploring the roof. The young woman continues to search, but... she's beginning to wonder whether the fairy is actually here or not. Eventually she looks over at Link; her brow furrowing slightly at his words.]
...Are you... okay?
no subject
Huh?
[It takes a moment longer for Pyrrha's words to push past his own thoughts. He nods, but doesn't feel quite so confident and energetic as before.]
Yeah, I'm fine. She'll probably turn up eventually, right? [With a sigh, he turns away and starts trudging back toward the stairway they'd used to access the roof.]
Maybe we better find somewhere we can stay for the night. I don't think we're going home just yet.
no subject
[...Though in all honesty, she has no idea. Pyrrha still doesn't even know where they are right now or how they got here. Everything is just so confusing that... To be honest, she'd much rather not even dwell on it for too long at all.]
[Link's change of mood is noticeable- even to someone as dense at reading others as Pyrrha. She feels really sorry for him, honestly. If only there were something she could do.... But... Pyrrha isn't exactly known for bringing others happier times. If she were a more confident person- a better friend- she would have reached out to touch the boy's shoulder in support... But as it stands, she can only stand back in silence; unsure of what to say or do in this situation.]
[Feeling like she has somehow failed her newfound companion already, Pyrrha merely nods her head in agreement to his words.] Okay...
[Following closely behind once more, Pyrrha blinks as she reflects back on his words. Wait... "somewhere we can stay...?" As in... together.... for the night?]
[N-no; that's... probably not what he meant. Pyrrha silently chides herself as she decides that a person like Link wouldn't suggest something like that so casually. And, besides...]
[....wait-] Link?
[She awkwardly changes the topic of conversation as a question comes to her.] ...Um, if you don't mind me asking- how old are you?
no subject
Brooding on this topic, he forgoes conversation as they head downstairs. Only when Pyrrha asks him a question does he start talking again.]
How old am I? [Time is a bit of a fluid concept for him, since he can travel back and forth through it as long as he can make it to the Temple of Time. The answer differs depending on where he is in time at what moment.] Seventeen. Why?
no subject
[A bit embarrassed.] You're... so much braver and more adventurous than I am; I suppose that I just assumed you were my age... if not older...
[A pause.] Then again, I suppose that I'm often told that I don't come across as being twenty years old myself, either...
no subject
My age isn't what makes me who I am. It's what I've done that does.
[As Link has found out, once he can prove he's capable, people will trust him with any task regardless of whether he's a kid or an adult.]
I bet you're brave and adventurous too. You just haven't been given a chance to find out yet.
no subject
[Yeah the influence of Soul Edge really does wonders for helping one retain their youth huh][Again; that self-assured confidence is enough to make Pyrrha envious.]
I suppose you're right.
[Oh... my. He really thinks that she has the potential to be... adventurous..?]
[Pyrrha has heard much idle flattery in her time- but this is the first time that anyone has said that to her. To think that someone actually... believes in her, as a person...]
[...She has no choice but to smile shyly at that; another blush staining her cheeks. -Only this time, Pyrrha actually forgets to make any effort to conceal her expression from the boy.]
That... that's very kind of you to say.
no subject
[Can't argue with results][This time Link sees the smile and the blush, and in return finds his spirits rising once more. Pyrrha really is... quite beautiful. Even more so when she smiles.]
I just think you're being too hard on yourself.
[Link understands that women in some places are held back from doing anything particularly interesting. It doesn't really seem fair to him. If Pyrrha really wants some adventure in her life, then he feels like he should help her out. Navi would probably smack him on the back of the head for taking on yet another unnecessary distraction.]
I'll make sure you get your fill of action! I wonder if there's a lake here... have you ever wanted to breathe underwater? I could show you how to shoot a bow! I bet you'd like the hookshot too...
[He goes on about possible plans as they return to wandering the school's hallways.]
no subject
[As Link goes on about all of the things he'd be willing to show her, Pyrrha actually begins to wonder if he perhaps has a bit too much faith in her potential. Gradually, she can feel herself growing increasingly anxious. He even mentioned breathing under water!] U-um..!
[She interrupts;] You know, I... I'm not very good at many things... so...
I- I mean, there's no rush or anything...
no subject
That's okay. You can't become better at them until you practice.
[They continue eastward bound, and eventually come across the dormitories located there. Link peeks his head into one of the rooms, noting the plain decor and the two bunk beds dominating the space.]
There are some beds in here!
[But it's so dark... aren't there any candles?]
no subject
[As they reach the dim room, Pyrrha does instantly feel a bit more relaxed. She doesn't always get to sleep in an actual bed, so whenever one is made available, Pyrrha certainly appreciates it.]
Oh, Good! [The girl smiles; taking a few hesitant steps inside.] ...It's a bit dark...
Maybe there's a lantern somewh--! [Suddenly Pyrrha's foot clips against the edge of a small shelf, and the girl lets out a yelp as she clumsily falls inside of the dark space.]
no subject
[Hearing that yelp, Link hastily moves forward and attempts to catch Pyrrha before she hits the ground. Ultimately, he ends up grabbing at one of her arms too late, crouched over her downed form.]
Careful! [...That's a bit of a pointless warning now.] Are you all right?
[Unfortunately, he can't really see Pyrrha too well with this lack of lighting. But it was just a little fall, right? Figuring he'd better find something to light up the room, he gets to his feet and feels along the wall until his hand moves over something. Some sort of switch? Link pushes it upward, and suddenly the room is flooded with light.]
Huh!
no subject
[Her pride sure took a nasty spill, though.]
[Pyrrha gets back up to her feet as Link looks around the room. It's only when the light suddenly flicks on that the young woman's suddenly surprised- and thoroughly embarrassed expression can be clearly seen. She turns away a bit when the room is illuminated; a blush still staining her cheeks at the thought of having stumbled in front of Link.] O-oh!
So that's... how it works.... [Link sure does have some admirable puzzle-solving skills indeed! Pyrrha walks over to take a seat upon the bottom bunk.]
no subject
It's impressive how they get the light going without any fire.
[Link looks over the beds and feels an urge to claim one of the top bunks. But he isn't sure if he should go for bed one on top of the one Pyrrha is sitting on, or the entirely empty bunk. Would it be improper to share the same one? Or rude not to?]
At least we know we can sleep here. If we move furniture in front of the door, we should be safe from intruders.
no subject
[Pyrrha wonders if it's really okay to be sharing a room like this... With a male, specifically. Isn't this kind of thing... improper? But... she really doesn't want to be all alone in this strange place, either. Pyrrha can't explain it exactly, but she feels... safe, with Link around. He's proven himself to be dependable already- and they've only just met today. If anything, one would have to wonder why he would want to continue busying himself with her. He's a kind boy... Perhaps he merely feels sorry for her. If so, she still doesn't mind. Even being pitied feels better than the thought of being left alone right now.]
[Besides... siblings share rooms all the time. If she tries to think of Link in that manner, maybe it's not so bad. Tira once informed her that she.... has a brother somewhere, out there. Pyrrha has no memory of any family... but she wonders if he's anything like Link....]
[...But she... shouldn't be having thoughts like that. It's far to... risky, for her to let herself get too attached to others....]
Intruders? [Oh boy. Pyrrha furrows her brow in concern.] But... but we have nothing to steal. Do you really think someone would try to break in here..?
no subject
[Whether or not this is proper, Link decides to let Pyrrha make that determination. Normally he finds some secluded patch of grass to sleep in, or an inn if he's lucky. Sharing a room had never bothered him either, and no matter where he'd slept he'd always had Navi with him. That had to change, unfortunately.]
I don't really think so, but if there are monsters here, they might want to kill us just for fun.
[Isn't that an encouraging thought?]
