[Event] Heartless Invasion (Warning: Violence)
[A simple but intense dislike for Bakura had evolved into a hatred so strong Kai almost didn't know what to do with it. He'd tried distracting himself with friends, games, his dog...nothing really seemed to help as much as practicing his magic, and then only because every time he cast it, he was pretending he was using it on the Creeper. After a while even that didn't work. It hadn't taken him long after the stabbing incident to start practicing another of his skills, and while controlling the first Shadow he'd managed to summon had been a disappointment, he'd gotten better. Good enough, in his opinion, to carry out something he'd been considering for a while, but hadn't decided on with absolute certainty until Karasu was sobbing her heart out on his couch.
Killing the bastard won't be permanent, but maybe taking his Heart will be.
After locking Surge safely in the bedroom, Kai checks one more time to make sure the Blue Eyes Keychain she made for him is hanging from his belt before heading to the door. As his hand grasps the knob, a flash of silver catches his eye; the ring 'Jem had given him. Frowning, he tugs it off and goes to hide it in a kitchen drawer. The hell he's wearing it while he does this. The thought stirs an uneasy feeling in the pit of his stomach, and Kai shoves it away. Time to get on with it.
Forgoing the door this time, he opens a Corridor instead, focusing on pinning down the Creeper's location. He's pretty sure...Ah. Feels like the library. A smirk touches his lips before he steps through. Bakura might be gone by the time he gets there, but it's not like it matters.]
(OOC: So, Kai's finally had enough of Bakura's crap and sorta...snapped. His intention is to go after just him, but things are going to get out of hand. Heartless will be roaming the island - a lot of them. For simplicity's sake, they'll be limited to Shadows and Neoshadows. Feel free to deal with them as you see fit, but remember, only magic (including magical weapons) or the Keyblade can destroy them.
Important notes: All event-related threads must stay in this post. If a Heartless takes your character's Heart, it counts as death; they'll revive in the clinic within three days (at least). No Nobodies are allowed to be generated if your character becomes a Heartless.
Kai should hopefully slip back into the land of sanity within a few hours of starting this fiasco, and he'll start cleaning up his mess then. Mostly hunting down the suckers, but he can do rescues too if needed. It may take him a few days to catch any stragglers.)

Hadn't his mom told him that once? She'd made plenty, she would know.
But the longer he made his way through the chaos, the stronger the sick feeling in the pit of his stomach grew. He'd never intended for it to get this bad. ...He's pretty sure he didn't. He'd only meant to take care of the Creeper, get that problem solved once and for all. Instead, now there are Heartless everywhere, or at least it seems that way.]

[He has to do something, doesn't he? Put things right. But he's almost afraid to try. Some of the Heartless are still listening; at least none are trying to eat him. At the moment he's almost content to just punish himself walking through this mess...until he drifts outside and comes across a familiar (and eerie) looking dragon.
Oh Light. He'd forgotten about Karasu. But that couldn't be-]

[Edging forward a bit, he reaches out a hand toward her, intending to try and touch her head...if he can get near it and not lose his whole arm.]

[She holds her claw out palm-up, as if giving an idle gesture to match her words. Seeing him move, she pulls her head back, well out of his reach as her tail lightly thumps the ground.]

[The admittance has some of his earlier anger behind it, and Kai forces himself to take a calming breath. Don't get mad now, don't set off the Shadows still roaming nearby. As her head pulls back, he scowls and moves closer anyway, ignoring the tail.]

[Which pretty much destroys his current argument.]

[She reaches over, poking him in the stomach with a claw, just hard enough to hurt but not hard enough to do any damage at all.]

[And that's right, because if he'd never met her, never fallen in love with her, if Bakura hadn't been there too...Would this ever have happened? It might've just remained petty, childish pranks and dislike.
Bit late to wonder about that now.]

[She smacks her tail against the ground again, laying down and bracing her head on her claw in an all-too-human gesture as she looks at him, teeth bared in a cruel draconic grin.]

[That he doesn't want to think about. Kai doesn't care at this point whether she tries to eat him or not, so ignoring the grin and those teeth - which should be scaring the hell out of him right now - he steps forward and just leans his forehead against the side of her face.]

[It doesn't. He'll never forgive himself even if she does. Or if she'd been able to...Kai shakes his head once she pulls back, the fingers of his right hand curling around a weapon that isn't there, and that he might not even be able to call again.

[Because he's not, and he never could be, no matter how far he fell. Because Karasu is- It's not her light that attracts him, it's her. And what he's dealing with now...it's so far from being her that it kills him.]
I've got to try and fix this. I can't just-
[Another look behind at the Shadows, this one almost frightened. If he manages to call the Keyblade, and he loses what little control of the Heartless that he has left...he remembers all too well the feeling of being swarmed, and the sensation of claws closing around his Heart. In response to the memory, that familiar ache starts up, and it's all he can do not to put his hand to his chest.]
Try and stay out of trouble, for me?
[He knows she won't, but he still can't help asking. Kai turns and puts more distance between them before holding out his hand and willing Heart's Star to it. It's already got bad memories tied to it, why not. Thankfully the Heartless don't make any move toward him, although their interest is certainly caught.]

[Her wings twitch at the Keyblade, but she remains where she is, just lightly tapping her tail on the ground.]

[Ouch. Ouch. He flinches as soon as the words leave his mouth (Because really Kai, shifting any of the blame for this onto her?), and at her warning, Heart's Star flickers in his grasp. Careful...he'd been anything but. What if he can't set things right? What if this is too late to stop and all he can do is make it worse?
He watches with a dull sort of fascination as the Keyblade flickers again and vanishes, staring at his empty hand in silence. Well. Now what?]
Guess we try something else.
[Holding out his hand again, he closes his eyes for a moment, and summons the one he knows he'll be able to hang onto. Not the best option, but maybe the only one right now. Kai opens his eyes to frown at Heart's Shadow before catching sight of the small pouch still tied to the Keychain. So much for one he didn't use often. It takes him all of a few seconds to untie the knot one-handed before shoving the pouch into his pocket. Losing that would be bad.]

It was a dumb thing to do... but I sure feel better now! No more worrying about yours or anyone else's darkness... since I'm a part of it too.
[Mmm... she opens her mouth in a toothy yawn, flicking her tail back and forth almost irritatedly.]

[He finds himself looking over at the milling Heartless, because it's less painful than looking at Karasu in this state. What if she never- No, no, he's not going to think about that. He'll stop this, and help Karasu...he just doesn't want to consider that 'helping' her might mean her dying.]

[Shifting the Keyblade in his grip, he begins walking away, half-expecting to be jumped by his former minions, and almost surprised when some follow the way they had been before. Maybe he can make use of that...]
