[Unacceptable. Completely and totally unacceptable.

Unhelpful nurse aside, did they (whoever "they" was; someone or a group of someones with enough nerve to line a bank vault) honestly think he would accept news about being kidnapped simply because it was cutely drawn on a whiteboard? In their deluded dreams.

He's going to explore alright, but not because he's "sad"--because he is livid and wants to find a way out as soon as possible. He has much more important things to be doing than milling about some school.

So he's striding through the hallways, hands clasped behind his back, looking for anything at all that might prove out of the ordinary or useful. Like, say, a person eventually coming into his sights.]

Actually, I think that's probably the best way to describe it. It's like a sadistic child playing with an ant farm. Sooner or later, they're going to get bored and do something stupid and dangerous just to see how they react to it. Like start a fire, or dump water on them.

So, what? [He starts pacing, gesticulating angrily as he speaks more to himself than Bakura.] We're expected to sit here until she decides we aren't amusing any more? What then!? We wait, trembling in fear for a doomsday or to be left rotting if she decides we aren't even worth the effort!?

[Finally he turns back, punctuating himself with a stomp.] We're supposed to simply accept that kind of helplessness!?

Uhm... I realize you're angry; I think everyone is, really. But unless you can take down the barrier or find where she's hiding, there's not really all that much you can do but just try to get by.

Sometimes people disappear though, and we think they might have been sent home.

A barrier? [Where did your personal space go.] Elaborate.

[WOAH HI BACKPEDALLING A TON HERE. Personal space is very needed.]

Uwah-! There's this invisible barrier over the island. It's like a really large dome, and so far nobody's managed to break it.

Some people react really badly to touching it, but mostly it's just like an invisible wall that everything bounces off of. Fire, energy blasts, stones... it just repels everything.

[He rubs the back of his head awkwardly.]

Beyond it, we can only see the ocean, but that might be a projection, because there used to be an illusion of a city outside before they let us out. So nobody knows what's out there.

[He'll stay where he is this time, sparing your bubble. He even takes his eyes off you, drumming his fingers against his arm in deep thought for a little while.]

How does this island sustain its inhabitants? Are natural resources abundant?

[Ryou sighs in relief. Being that close to people is really weird.]

Kind of... but supplies just sort of appear overnight. There's plenty of food, and electricity and things like that, but nobody knows where it came from. Nobody seems to come in or out, it's just there.

If you're used to living off the land though, it's entirely doable. The jungle's out there, and there's all sorts of animals and fruits.

...A virtually limitless supply of electricity? On an isolated island? [That anger from before's steadily turning into very keen interest.]

Yeah. It's only gone off once since I've been here, and that was intentionally done.

[A few more moments to think, and for the first time in the conversation he smiles.] Well, then. Provided an exit can be found, perhaps time spent here might not be entirely wasteful.
