CAMPUS WIDE EVENT: SPRING FEVER

[Today, the lovely denizens of the Campus will wake up to a beautiful spring morning. Birds are chirping, flowers are blooming, and pollen is in there. But this isn't just any pollen, the kind that afflicts the allergy prone to months of watery eyes and sneezing, oh no, this pollen is far more potent.

This morning, you will wake up with exactly one menial illness. It won't kill you, it won't even really hurt you, but it will be a constant annoyance to you for the next week. Sicknesses range from sneezes and rashes to spontaneous floral growth out of the forehead region. Really, anything goes.]

((ooc: okay, so, feel free to give your characters whatever silly or petty illness you want! This event ends on the 25th. Our cooperative event has been postponed due to a lack of feedback/interest--since it's an event that requires at least a small group of people to be active in.))

The virus that's worked its way into my language and translator systems is something that I can't even sense, much less get rid of. The hostile reaction was something similar, wasn't it?

[Because... well, that conversation was proof. He wouldn't freak out over staring down a doppleganger.]

[Looking at it objectively, nothing he had done during that encounter made sense. He might not have been pleased with another doppleganger, but he certainly wouldn't have trembled and retreated. Not to mention he had been under so much stress he'd almost forgotten X wasn't even speaking English at first.]

I believe it might be, yes. We've both been infected with different viruses at the same time?

[If this is what that woman considered "playing"...]

It seems so. Mine is annoying, but it seems yours might be worse than that.

[Surprising himself, his first reaction to the sudden language switch is to try and hold back a laugh.]

There are robots present in the school. Do you suppose the nurse is equipped with antiviruses?

[X notices that, and just smiles a little himself with a sigh. Oh well... it's not like it's something that bad, though it does worry him that his systems can't pick it up.

To the question, he nods a little. It would make sense, even if she was a human nurse, to have something.

At least, he hopes so. The other him did mention something about "different places."]

[It's worth a shot, at the very least. A good opportunity to see if she's prepared for anything else someone mechanical might need in case of...accidents.]

[X motions for Copy to take the lead, since he seems at least somewhat familiar with the area they're in now.]

[Familiar enough that he can backtrack to the nurse's office from where they are. So take the lead he does, nice and dutiful, but that doesn't stop him from glancing back at X.]

...When did you arrive here?

[X thinks, then pulls up the digital screen from his arm and pulls up the records of his start up.

It was... less than a few hours ago, it seems.]

...Interesting. [His tone is a little strange, but for the most part he seems pleased at this news.]

[And just like that the strange impulses to smile were gone, his expression turning oddly dark.]

I haven't seen any trace of him thus far.

[X nods a little, relief flickering in his eyes. Having neither him nor Zero back home would be bad, after all, and even if he likes being around Zero, he's not helpless or anything. Especially not with the other him here.

The expression does make him curious, though... it almost seems like Copy swallowed something sour.]

[He only catches "home" and "Zero" out of that, and his apparent mood just falls even further.]

[...Was it something he said? X frowns a little, but nods, following behind him without saying anything else.

As it turns out, Lisa is able to help... a little. It's not much, being a human nurse and all, but it's enough that X is able to gain some measure of control of his own body back, running all the scans and diagnostics he can.]

Well... at least it's a small respite.

[Copy feels somewhat after the visit as well, like a fuzziness he hadn't even noticed being there was cleared up. No more strange, out of place impulses...at least, as far as he could tell.]

I suppose it's better than nothing, for now.

It might give our systems enough time to actually find out what's infecting us. At least it doesn't... seem threatening, for now.

[He really hopes it stays that way.]

["Speak for yourself" he almost adds, considering those impulses caused him to raise his buster earlier. (Stupid, stupid...)]

A good point. In any case, with both of us in our right minds we should be much more productive for the time being.

I saw the board on my way out, but is there anything else you've found out about this place?

The Voice the board mentioned is the closest guess towards who's responsible for bringing us here. Evidently she also warps reality in smaller ways, to "test us", mostly by altering the environment in some fashion.

...Come to think of it, this may be one of those instances. [He certainly doesn't remember interfacing with any shady systems that might've given him a virus recently.]

That seems likely. I was suffering like this from the moment I arrived, after all.

The people I spoke with cited the entire building vanishing, the layout changing at random, and the tropical environment turning into a tundra.

[He has no idea. The building going away or the tropical environment changing isn't inherently that strange, but considering it all looks completely normal it quickly becomes so.

And how would you even manage that with the layout without huge moving parts this clearly doesn't have?]

From what little I've seen of it? A madhouse.

...A vaguely hospitable madhouse. The whiteboard mentioned housing, and I've been told there's a virtually limitless supply of food and energy present.

[THAT gets his attention. Energy and food? So no one, Reploid or human, would have to go without...

He almost can't imagine it.]

What kind of "housing"? If this is a school, I'm imagining it's probably dorms.
