ANNOUNCEMENT 002

[Wherever you are, whatever you're doing, you will hear the loud screeching of a microphone through the speakers before it dies down. Not long after, a familiar husky voice blares through said speakers.

Although her tone is somewhat pleasant, she manages to keep her authoritative tone as well.]

Good afternoon. [There's a brief pause.] You've all been quite busy, haven't you? It's, hm...interesting to watch, to say the least. But do keep the property damage to a minimum, will you? It's awfully rude to smash people's property on arrival, don't you think?

[Despite that warning, she manages a soft (if a bit ominous) chuckle.]

That being said, I hope you're all well rested. A good rest means a good grade, after all~.

[There's another burst of feedback before the announcement comes to an end.]

[His eyes follow the ash as it falls to the ground, then flick back to Boone's face. Of course he knows about Bitter Springs, but he doesn't assume that has anything to do with it.]

Doesn't it?

[It makes him feel smugly satisfied to think of what the NCR must be doing to lose soldiers.]

Well, I won't press on the matter. What's important to you is that I feel more inclined to aid you now, knowing this.
thumbsdown: (knock it off)

[personal profile] thumbsdown 2013-06-30 10:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Besides that name I need off you, what else would I need you to help me with?

[Finished with the cigarette, Boone drops it to the floor and stubs it out with his toe before kicking it down the hall.]

[personal profile] truetocaesar 2013-06-30 10:57 pm (UTC)(link)
I was referring to the name.

[Yes, he's basically admitting that he didn't actually intend to help based on their original agreement.]

It's a shame someone killed your wife... otherwise I could have gotten her back for you as well.

[That might've been a bit more work, but if he asked Caesar to allow it for alliance purposes, he would surely say yes.]
thumbsdown: (accurate- and so were we)

[personal profile] thumbsdown 2013-06-30 11:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Good, because I don't want your help for anything else.

[Boone's eye twitches behind his glasses at the offhand mention of his wife's death. His tone is colder than usual when he replies.]

It couldn't have ended any other way.

[He's being punished, he knows that now. He only wishes Carla hadn't been dragged into it. She didn't deserve what happened to her.]

[personal profile] truetocaesar 2013-06-30 11:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Of course.

[There really isn't much else he could offer his help for. He wouldn't wish to waste his time.]

[Vulpes notices the change in Boone's tone. He expected his words to have some effect on him, though the sniper's words are curious.]

Oh? Why is that?
thumbsdown: (it's not really my thing...)

[personal profile] thumbsdown 2013-06-30 11:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Because that's just how things are.

[He isn't going to elaborate to Vulpes Inculta, of all people.]

You make a mistake, you're a goddamn idiot if you think you won't be paying for it later. It'll always come back to get you.

[Christ, he thinks he needs another cigarette. Or a stiff drink.]

[personal profile] truetocaesar 2013-07-01 12:06 am (UTC)(link)
[He doesn't have to elaborate too much with a follow-up like that. Clearly the man believes he did something worth being punished for, and that thing likely involves the NCR... perhaps the reason he left. Give enough cryptic answers and one can eventually start piecing things together.]

I suppose that must be true. Nothing good can come to a man who does not act in accordance with his own convictions.

[While many might call Vulpes' own actions "evil", he believes fully in what he does. Caesar's justice is harsh, yet pure. It is needed to keep the wasteland in line.]
thumbsdown: (what is it?)

[personal profile] thumbsdown 2013-07-01 12:39 am (UTC)(link)
Convictions don't always mean anything.

[When he was told to shoot those Khans, he should have refused. He knew it was wrong, it didn't sit right with him at all, but he did it and now he's paying for it.]

[personal profile] truetocaesar 2013-07-01 12:48 am (UTC)(link)
Convictions mean everything.

[What would he be if he went against Caesar's orders and acted against the Legion's ideals? Nothing more than the lawless tribals running around the wastes. Caesar saved him from that life.]

Without them we are nothing.
thumbsdown: (for carla)

[personal profile] thumbsdown 2013-07-01 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
Maybe.

[Maybe that's why Boone feels so empty. He went against what he believed in, and now he's nothing. Just a man looking for revenge, for all the good that'll do him. He tells himself it's for Carla, but maybe deep down it's mostly to make himself feel better. After all, Carla isn't around to appreciate anything he does for her anymore. He should have turned his gun on himself rather than obey his orders.]

[personal profile] truetocaesar 2013-07-01 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
[He offers the man a mock look of sympathy.]

It is unfortunate that the NCR has no true convictions. It cannot keep the wasteland safe or civilized.

[Who would want the "freedoms" offered by the NCR when they simply resulted in corruption and death? The Legion saves people from themselves just as much as it saves them from wasteland wildlife and bandits.]
thumbsdown: (problem solver)

[personal profile] thumbsdown 2013-07-01 01:13 am (UTC)(link)
[He scowls at Vulpes and crosses his arms over his chest.]

You call slavery and crucification civilized? The NCR have their problems, but at least they're not the same kind of fucked up as the Legion.

[No argument could ever sway Boone to see sense in most things the Legion do.]

[personal profile] truetocaesar 2013-07-01 01:23 am (UTC)(link)
We're following the example of the very successful Roman Empire. Our methods have been consistently been proven successful when it comes to creating civilization.

[He's not actually trying to convince him. That's clearly not going to happen.]

You clearly would have been much better off in the Legion.

[He'd have convictions, his wife, and the opportunity to help others. What more could he want?]
thumbsdown: (get outta here)

[personal profile] thumbsdown 2013-07-01 01:26 am (UTC)(link)
I don't buy it.

[Yeah, not in a million years.]

What, so I could spend my life burning towns and tying people to crosses? No. Besides, I'm not sure a skirt would suit me.

[personal profile] truetocaesar 2013-07-01 01:44 am (UTC)(link)
The results speak for themselves.

[Then eventually, he'll die like everyone else who resists. The Legion will take over the Mojave Wasteland and New Vegas.]

[He scoffs at the jab about his uniform.]

I might pity you for your ignorance if I wasn't so tired of hearing such blather already.
thumbsdown: (what is it?)

[personal profile] thumbsdown 2013-07-01 01:56 am (UTC)(link)
I don't care what you think the results are. You're all insane.

[They're running around the Mojave in skirts and wolf hats tying people to crosses and pretending to be some kind of Roman Empire. Boone doesn't know much about the first Empire, but they were probably all nuts too.]
