Please don't bite the newbie!
Just a little to the left and open! [Sibyll announces triumphantly, standing up and pushing the door open to what should have been an unexplored ruin. Except it's not. Clearly confused, she takes a few steps into the bizarrely green courtyard. Pulling out a handgun, she looks around, clearly bewildered. Behind her, the door creaks shut and vanishes into the wall.]
Wait, no! [A little panicked, she presses her hand up against where the door used to be, tapping it lightly in an attempt to hear a hollow 'thump' that may indicate a hidden door. Not that there's any to be found.]
...Well, damn.

Had I wanted to take control of New Vegas myself, it would have been much easier to do so by playing up the power already in place, House. As repulsive an idea as that is. [If Vulpes had only seen the creepy 'human' before she put it out of its misery. It still made her skin crawl.] Then I simply could have ended House and New Vegas would have been mine. But I didn't do that.
So if I don't want New Vegas, why would I risk the entire wrath of the Legion just for a power play that doesn't really benefit me? Given how far-reaching the Legion is, I wouldn't be able to step foot outside New Vegas for the rest of my days without running the risk of an assassin or twenty. And you train your assassins very well, don't you?

[He thinks of the former NCR sniper sharing this building with them and scowls lightly. He would love to see Boone dead, but the man had managed to disarm him, and he hasn't been able to find another weapon since. Vulpes has no intention of risking his life to take that man out unarmed: he needs to preserve himself for Caesar.]
Now, if you were you kill someone with the NCR and bring me proof... I would be much more likely to believe you.
no subject
Kill someone with the NCR? [She goes from wry to puzzled.] That's a bit specific. It doesn't look like this is NCR territory or anything.
no subject
[He nods in response to Sibyll's question.]
There is a man with the NCR 1st Recon here. He goes by the name Boone. Regrettably, he was able to take me off guard when I first arrived here, and has since relieved me of my ripper. I've been unable to locate a replacement.
I want him dead. Alternatively, I want my ripper back. If you could accomplish one or both of these, I would be much more inclined to trust your words.

no subject
I did. You know him?
no subject
[Sibyll cannot believe this turn of events, nor could she say she was particularly thrilled about them. Boone's usually extremely aggressive towards anything resembling Legion.]
no subject
[He shakes his head with a sour look.]
He did try to kill me at first, but I won't be sharing the details with you.
How do you know him?
no subject
[She watches Vulpes for a few moments, musing to herself.]
I'm going to do something rare and say 'no' for once. At least, I won't kill him. Out of respect for someone who taught me some useful skills.
[And not because he scares her a little. Nope, not in the slightest.]
But I will steal your ripper back, since it's just so hard to say 'no' to you.
[She gives him an impish smile]

[Boone has made his hatred for the Legion very clear. This is certainly suspicious... and she's saying no to him on top of that. Hnn.]
If you're planning to support the Legion, you will have to accept killing profligates. I hope you realize this.
[It would be nice to have his weapon again, but he'd much prefer having it while Boone is dead. And now that he knows they are, or at least were friends, that changes things quite a bit.]
No, I retract that part of the mission. I can't trust you to do it if you're friendly with him. Incredible, that Caesar would trust somebody who is allied with one of the NCR's finest.
no subject
He helped me get revenge.
[She is not liking where this was going. She did know this day would eventually come where she'd have to sever her former ties if she wanted the Legion, but was she really prepared to do it now?]
no subject
[Vulpes could never accept her if he also knew that she was friends with the likes of that scum, and he's sure that works both ways. The only reason he hasn't walked away upon learning this new information is because he has to think of Caesar... though odd to imagine, it is possible that his Lord knows about this former companionship and has forgiven it. After all, he wouldn't have bestowed upon her his Mark otherwise.]

[Overreacting? Who's overreacting?]
Look, we split when he got a little uneasy after the way I dealt some Great Khans in Boulder City. Since then, I hadn't even thought of him until you said his name. [She practically spits the tribe name.]
no subject
Hm. [he snorts derisively] NCR complaining about improper treatment of Great Khans. As you are likely aware, we are seeking an alliance with their tribe, however. It would be best if you avoided murdering anymore of them for now, drug-addled wastrels though they are.
[Vulpes is still wary, but he supposes he'll have to give Sibyll a chance. He has to follow Caesar's lead.] Very well. I'll assume what you say is true about him. Don't let me find out you're lying.
no subject
I'd probably be doing you all a favor if I cleared out Red Rock Canyon, but since you asked so nicely, I won't.
[She's getting close again, though she's keeping her hands to herself.]
no subject
Oh, don't worry. We will "clean it up" in time.
[The Legion's standards are too high to have filth like that sticking around beyond it's initial usefulness.]
[Vulpes does step away this time, but only because he's heading toward the entrance to the main building.]
I assume you'll want to know where you can stay here.
no subject
I would. How safe is this place?
no subject
Safe enough if you have no enemies. However, if you wander into certain rooms in the North wing of the building, you may find yourself in trouble.
no subject
[She's looking around curiously as they walk through the quiet building. So far it sounds like they're the only ones around.]
no subject
[Vulpes had been forced to find a friend. Fortunately, there was a young woman naive enough for him to convince to go along with it. He supposes it would have been even simpler if Sibyll was around at the time.]
Another sent us to other places, but with bomb collars that were set to activate should we fail to cooperate with our partners.
I keep hoping I'll find one that sends us home.
no subject
...Your persistence is impressive. What else is there here?
no subject
Everything else is a replica of pre-war health. Nothing is damaged, or decaying. Food is provided in a cafeteria, and there are places to exercise and read.
no subject
[She purrs at him, but stops short of trying anything. Something seems to occur to her that distracts her.]
How can all this even exist? Even if this place was preserved Pre-War, it's still been a couple hundred years. Who's been keeping up this place?
no subject
A fair question.
[As they turn down another hallway, Vulpes gestures to one of the speakers on the wall.] Occasionally, someone makes announcements through these. I have yet to discover who it is, but she is clearly the one in charge. Perhaps she is similar to Mr. House... but there is no way to know for sure as of now.
