CAMPUS WIDE EVENT: EVERYTHING AND THE KITCHEN SINK

[Hopefully everybody likes waking up outside.

Because as it were, in the middle of the night when everybody had been asleep or lulled into a sudden one by the sheer weight of the air around them...the Campus disappeared in its entirety. Left behind was only the cool surface of the concrete foundation.

For now it seems the residents were left to fend for themselves in the wilderness of the island. Not even the voice from over the intercom would comfort them.]

((ooc: the school has disappeared, along with all the NPCs and everything that was inside! no opt-out areas this time around. The temperature is cool during the day, and colder at night.

The event will last until October 20th, and I'll post a closer to signify it. Everything will be returned to its rightful place then.))

Whoops. Kai cringes at the squeal, peering through the trees. Damn it, he should have been doing that the other way.

"Hey, are you okay? I didn't think-"

Wait.

Wait.

"You brought him along?"

Yep, he felt you before he saw you, Bakura. Thanks for that. Ah well, he can just keep Heart's Star out a little longer then!

They were too far away just for directions. Sorry, Kai-kun. But I'm okay.

[She glances back a little, moving up into the clearing and nodding at the makeshift campsite.]

This is where Kai-kun and I will be, if you need me!

[Once they're close enough for him to see Kai, his eyes narrow mischievously. He leisurely leans on her shoulder, shirtless though he is. One hand lightly toys with her hair, twisting a lock of it around his finger.]

Yeah, it was a little far. I appreciate the help, Karasu-chan! I'll definitely have to find somewhere closer, though.

"Eh, it's fine."

No it's not, and that especially isn't. But he can behave, damn it. He hopes, anyway. Kai swings his Keyblade up to rest against his shoulder, trying not to either twitch or look massively annoyed. He's pretty sure it's working.

"Sorry about the ice spheres, Bakura." Sorry he missed, that is.

[Karasu blinks a little, giving Bakura somewhat of a smile when he rests on her and blushing a bit as he plays with her hair. Okay, no no, calm down, he's just a friend, stop acting like a lovestruck school-girl...]

I can help you find somewhere near, if you want! Anything to help.

It was a bit of a cold shoulder to give an old friend, but I like to think I'm chill about things like that.

[...is he even aware of how weird that sounds. He flashes Karasu a grin.]

Sounds good to me! I've been hiding out in these woods before, if you'll recall, but only in a few parts.

'Old friend' his ass. Ugh. But he manages a smile instead of the scowl he'd love to let slip.

"Maybe next time I can see if Fire works better. Want to help?"

Kai lets out a soft cackle and wills the Keyblade away in a flash of light before going to sit by the fire again. He'd like to help find Bakura somewhere to camp too, ideally via a one way trip through a Corridor to the other side of the island.

You guys know each other well, then?

[Karasu looks between the two curiously before gently nudging Bakura to get off, moving over to the fire to try and warm up again before they go out. Brrr...]

Maybe I should forget about trying to lay low and just go get the stupid bear or something... I'm freezing.

[Gah... ACHOO!]

[He rubs her back, the picture of concern.]

Not me specifically, though he knows my body well enough.

[...nope, he's not caring how that sounds.]

That dick.

Kai's not even going to acknowledge that (Much more mature than snarking off, right?), instead grabbing a stick to poke at the fire. He's half-tempted to see if he can singe Bakura from where he's sitting, but Karasu's too close.

"Hey Karasu...maybe you should just stay a while. If Bakura's been around here before, he probably knows where to find a fruit tree or two, right? Couldn't we do with that for today at least?"

Because the hell he's going to go out and leave the Creeper here with her.

No, I don't think so. I'm really getting cold and I lost the feeling in my hands on the way to get him.

[She holds them over the fire, probably too close to be safe but right now she really doesn't care. A burn would feel better than this complete chill that's soaked into every bit of her body.]

...and anyway, it takes a while to make a blanket, right, Bakura-kun? So the sooner the better...

Maybe Kai-kun should get the bear instead! He's a man, isn't he?

[He offers it with a sarcastic grin, showing he's joking... though he really wouldn't mind. He could use the laugh.]

Joking or not, Kai seems to be considering that, still poking at the fire. Not like he hasn't hunted before, but...

"I suppose I could bludgeon it to death, since the Keyblade's more for killing magical things. Monsters. Setting it on fire would just ruin the fur."

It's almost creepy how calm he sounds saying that. Then he looks over at Karasu and sits back, abandoning the stick. She ought to stay, but she'll probably have an easier time finding the bear anyway, and catching it as a dragon.

Kai lets out an annoyed sigh at the choices they don't seem to have, and starts pulling his shirt off.

"Here, this might keep you a little warmer even though it's short sleeved."

He shakes his hair free as he gets it over his head, trying to ignore that two out of his three scars are pretty visible now. He's not so much embarrassed as just irritated that Bakura gets to see them. There's a set of claw marks on his left shoulder, starting on the top and dragging a few inches down, and then the one on his chest. Three puncture wounds spaced out over his heart that seem to turn into scratches, as if whatever had attacked him had been pulled away.

Kai clears his throat, holding the shirt out while he glances back at the fire.

You could probably freeze it. Ice at least chips off.

[Karasu blinks a little once the shirt comes off, shaking her head and holding her hands up.]

No, it's all right! You need it more than I do, Kai-kun.

[Her eyes linger on the scars some, but she doesn't say anything about them for now; that can wait until they're not all freezing to death.]

Why not take it down together? If Kai's magic can trap it, or incapacitate it, that should make it easier.

[Bakura pauses, eyeing those scars unabashedly. Hell, Ryou has more than a few that are visible in this state, those burns having left more than a few of their own. Even his chest is marked where the Ring's prongs penetrated, in a similar manner to Kai's, and for a moment he wonders just what it was that was grabbing onto his chest.

Glancing to the side, as if looking at someone that wasn't there, he shoots Ryou a questioning look and gets a shrug in response.]

You're kind of young to have those kind of wounds, aren't you... Kai-kun?

"No, I'm fine, honest. I'm cold, but I'm not freezing. Been colder." A different kind of cold, but anyway. He's just going to frown and keep holding the shirt out. Don't make him insist, he will. His gaze shifts over to Bakura and he almost smacks himself with his free hand. That was something he hadn't thought of.

"That's actually a good idea."

Ugh, he's staring. Well, of course. It's not like they're normal. The question makes him snort with suppressed laughter.

"Not really."

...All right.

[She can tell Kai won't give up on this, so she reaches out, taking the shirt and pulling it on. It's still an extra layer of warmth and it lets her breathe out a bit thankfully, rubbing her hands.]

That is a good idea. Kai-kun and I can handle that while you and Malik set up. If you come back a little later, I'm sure we can have enough for all four of us! Right, Kai-kun?

I dunno, if Ryou saw this, he'd probably start fussing over you like a mother hen.

[He finally stops looking over Kai like an interesting piece of meat, getting up.]

Heh... Karasu-chan, Malik would appreciate that, I'm sure. Even coming from you! If I can get him to be sociable, I'll drag him over to say hi later, if he doesn't wander over on his own. If not, I'll just drop by in a while once I'm done setting up a perimeter.

"Thanks." The frown turns into a smile as Karasu finally takes the shirt, then fades altogether as Bakura mentions Ryou. What the hell-

Damn it Bakura, quit screwing with things, it's getting annoying.

"Nothing for him to fuss over, they happened ages ago. Not like anything still hurts." Often, at least. Kai gives a shrug and gets to his feet too, just managing to keep from rolling his eyes at the idea of having to deal with the Creeper and Creeper jr some more.

"We should have something edible pretty soon."

Yep! Just leave it to us.

[Karasu gives her arm a final rub, turning to hug Bakura tightly, both out of affection and warmth.]

I hope he does appreciate it. I'll make sure we grab some fruit and stuff for him, too!

They still look like they hurt. I'd say not to let him see them, but he already has.

[Bakura hugs her tightly, affectionately, one hand coming up to stroke through her hair. Mm, warm.]

If he doesn't, I'll kick his ass until he starts appreciating the kindness of others. Especially you.

"Looks can be deceiving." Bakura's just a great example of that, isn't he.

Outwardly, Kai's not even twitching at the display this time, although he's running over several different options, at least two ranging from 'painful' to just 'dead'.

Jealous, him?

"We'd better get going."

Right. See you later, Bakura!

[And with that, Karasu waves, going off with Kai into the forest to see what they can get.]

[Karasu had never really done the whole thing of "hunting" before, but with her and Kai helping each other, they hadn't done too bad. A couple of bears, a deer, a fox, and some rabbits were the total of their fur-hunting, while Karasu had managed to sort of makeshift a bag from Kai's shirt and wrapped up a bunch of different fruits and such inside of it.

Right now, she's got the corpses stacked up near the cave, letting the cold help settle them while they waited for Bakura to come back.]

We make a good team, Kai-kun! Don't we?

'Hadn't done too bad'? As far as Kai was concerned this was pretty damn good for just the two of them. Even with 'Jem helping him they'd never managed anything bigger than maybe a deer...then again, she was still just a kid.

"Definitely. I didn't think we'd get this much."

He grins from by the fire where he's warming his hands - okay, he's a little cold, but it really isn't bad.

"Glad my shirt is multipurpose."
