A slight pause as the Ring points him towards the nearest shiny coin someone dropped in the room follows, but before long, he has a brand new pack of cards in his hand.]

I don't have my deck, so I can't rely on those... Let's see.

[Hm... This would have to do. Lifting the card so she could see it, he focuses on it. The glow from it fills the room, dimming after a moment to reveal... the actual monster, hopping around curiously. 'Brain Jacker'. A low-level fiend capable of controlling the mind of its prey. Kill it if you want. I don't particularly care. It was just a demonstration.

[Sibyll was no longer interested in debating theology. She's watching the creature with morbid fascination, though she's not taking a step near it.]

[Jumping down from the table, it skitters over to where Bakura's kneeling, and he casually reaches down to rub the top of its brain. With a little cooing sound, it shivers like jelly and nuzzles into his hand.]

Magic may be extinct in the world, but there'll always be pockets of it where the Items are.

On top of that, summons still work here, for some reason. I've never had a problem pulling creatures from the other world here... and even part of the world itself. I guess as long as I'm not trying to leave, it doesn't block me from opening that connection.

Does that mean you're pulling creatures from their existence like the person here pulled us?

[She kept the gun out, but doesn't have it pointed at anything in particular.]

That's right. It's been this way since ancient times... before the magic was sealed, I've heard that they used to be summoned to the human world quite often. If they die here, they'll just return to the world of darkness, so it's not a problem for them. But I don't summon creatures that don't have a bond with me, usually. This one was a lucky pick.

Low-level monsters like this aren't very powerful, so it was less risky to summon it than something stronger.

[Very cautiously, she approaches both Bakura and the creature. If she had a stick, she'd poke the wriggly little thing, but there is no way in hell that the Courier is going to risk her arm. She's curious, but not that curious.]

They vary. Take a look.

[He holds the cards in his hand up. Ignoring the spell cards, the pack also included Harpie Lady, Blast Magician, Silent Swordsman Level 5 and Malice Doll of Demise.]

Fiend types tend to be less human, understandably. But Warriors and Spellcasters in particular are more humanoid. There's thousands of them out there.

[The creature looks her over warily, but doesn't move from beneath Bakura's calming hand.]

I'll take that as a 'yes'. And you can pull any of those into this world?

[Sibyll scans the cards. The text was just gibberish, but the paintings were interesting. She wasn't sure she wanted to meet the creatures in person. Depended on how bulletproof they were. Or...]

You said something about a bond to you?

Summoning is difficult. Even with my levels of energy, to pull something from another world is tiresome. Pulling something you don't know is a pain, since you don't know if you can control it or not. And killing them is annoying. But if it has a card, I can summon it.

[Except the god cards, of course.]

The creatures I summon are all creatures I've created a connection to on an emotional level. Either servants or acquaintances. It doesn't matter which. I'd trust them with my life... to a point.

If summoning up critters, especially ones you don't know is so difficult, how are you doing it so easily?

A dark duelist who wields a millennium item... can do many things. It's just that most item holders don't know the ins-and-outs of the items as I do.
