CAMPUS WIDE EVENT: SNOWED IN

[Early morning on the 15th, the building is deathly chilly as well as unusually dark. Even with the heat on people will find themselves wandering the halls and shivering, their breath fogging up in front of them. Anybody foolish enough to try and leave the building will find that the door simply won't budge due to the amount of snow piled against it, and any attempts to exit (or look) through the windows will greet them with a daunting wall of white. Even the courtyard is inaccessible, as is the door leading up to the rooftop.

Outside on the island, it seems a heavy snow storm has blanketed everything in a thick layer of white.]

((ooc: The event will last 7 days, with the first 4 being snowed-in, the 5th being a blizzard, the 6th another snow-in day, and the 7th having the snow melting. A post will be made on the 19th and 21st respectively. You can see the conditions here, and on the weekly weather sticky:

...Ri-ght. That was all me, clearly.

[Sigh. Despite himself... he couldn't help but laugh a little. Malik really was funny like that. Did he really not get it?

And to think of it... both of them thinking the other didn't like them. His tone takes on an amused note.]

Malik-kun, you know most people don't like being ordered around, right? It comes across as if you don't care about them at all.

[Mm... that really was soothing.]

That's why we had trouble... Because you tell, instead of asking.

[Sarcasm or not, he wasn't about to argue the point. Malik wouldn't blame himself if he could help it.

Ryou's next observation has him pausing in his petting again, his tone hinting at some familiar irritation. It's minor right now, made obvious by the fact he's still perfectly fine cuddling with Ryou while he says it.]

Was that was the only reason we had trouble? But I do ask. I'm not going to grovel and beg, you know.

[Ryou lifts his head to look at him, honestly amused.]

When did I ever say I wanted you to grovel or beg? What I mean is... when most people ask, they're willing to accept no for an answer. You assume they'll do it anyway and get mad if people try to say no. It's like nobody ever really said no to you before.

[The vaguely perplexed look Malik shoots Ryou in return suggests that nobody has ever told him no. Or at least, not very often, and not very often do they get away with it either.]

...That's not true. I'm willing to accept no! [There's no real way out of this except saying what sounds good.]

Is that right...? [A little laugh slips out and he lays his head on Malik's chest again. From the look on Malik's face, it's clear the kid's been spoiled as hell. But Malik can't help that, he guesses.]

You're cute, Malik. [But you're not a good liar.]

... [Malik is spoiled in ways Ryou can't even imagine.]

Why are you saying something like that all of a sudden?[Comes his mumbled indignation.]

Never mind... [Ryou knows that'll probably infuriate him more, especially with the playfulness of his tone, but he doesn't care.]

It was just me being sentimental.

Hmph... If you say so.

[Grumpiness aside, Malik just loops his arms around Ryou and holds him close. This was all a dangerous habit of his, but he just couldn't bring himself to break it.]

[A sigh of contentment slips out before he can recall it. This is far more comfortable than it should be.]

Malik-kun...?

[What, oh what, is he going to do? It would be nice to hear his father's voice again, to play games with everyone again, to go back to the same old places that he knows... Being here's probably ruined any chance he has of getting into a good college though, assuming time has been flowing naturally outside. They won't know until they get there. And Malik had talked about them going to Egypt... It was all so uncertain. What would happen if they did get out of here?]

If we get out of here... want to go to the arcade with me sometime?

Hm?

[What did Ryou want now? He was comfortable, so he better not be asking him to move--]

You mean when we get out. And that depends. What's the arcade?

[...More importantly, if Ryou was inviting him to do something when they left, that meant he was agreeing to come with him in the first place, wasn't it?

He knew it was only a matter of time.]

The other term for them is a 'game center'. It's a place full of games you can't find anywhere else. Fighting games, racing games, even some where you can win prizes. They're kind of fun when you're with other people, but it's boring going on my own.

[He doesn't answer that 'when'. As far as he's concerned, it's an 'if'.]

Huh. That actually sounds like it could be fun.

[Huffing, he watches Ryou's hair rustle from his breath.] I'm so sick of this place. I want to go places...and do things. I want to be free!

[fluffydeathdealer]

Now, now... [Lifting up a hand, he entwines a strand of Malik's hair around his finger, playing with it.]

It'll be alright. We'll get out of here. You just gotta make the most of the time you have free here and try not to fret over it.

Once all this snow clears... I'll start looking for a way out of here again. I've been spending far too much time relaxing, and not enough time actually getting things done.

You're a hard worker... but, Malik... don't work too hard, okay? If you get too stressed out by it, we'll all suffer from it.

I'll be fine. The faster we get out of here, the better.

[Ryou ignores those words entirely. Any honest answer would just infuriate Malik, and he doesn't have it in him to lie right now. Playing with Malik's hair idly, he closes his eyes.]

I'd almost forgotten the snow... you're too distracting.

I haven't.

[Malik contemplates pushing Ryou off so he can sit up, but even if he does that, he doesn't have much he can do in this weather.

Instead he just sighs. As bored as he should be, he felt too comfortable to have it get to him. Maybe he'll take a nap...]

[Of course he hadn't... Malik was so single-minded. But there wasn't anything he could say or do to help.

Instead, he just stays there, enjoying the comfort of the other teen's body, if not the iciness of Malik's attitude. Sometimes that guy seemed more freezing than the snow...]
