CAMPUS WIDE EVENT: SNOWED IN

[Early morning on the 15th, the building is deathly chilly as well as unusually dark. Even with the heat on people will find themselves wandering the halls and shivering, their breath fogging up in front of them. Anybody foolish enough to try and leave the building will find that the door simply won't budge due to the amount of snow piled against it, and any attempts to exit (or look) through the windows will greet them with a daunting wall of white. Even the courtyard is inaccessible, as is the door leading up to the rooftop.

Outside on the island, it seems a heavy snow storm has blanketed everything in a thick layer of white.]

((ooc: The event will last 7 days, with the first 4 being snowed-in, the 5th being a blizzard, the 6th another snow-in day, and the 7th having the snow melting. A post will be made on the 19th and 21st respectively. You can see the conditions here, and on the weekly weather sticky:

... [It's hard to look serious when you're standing around, teeth chattering furiously even despite your best efforts. But Malik was fascinated (if a little furious, his plans for the day were ruined) by this turn of events.

He'd never seen this much snow before in his entire life... In fact, before coming to campus, he'd never seen snow at all.

Looking out the window, if you can even call it that, he mutters to himself.]

Wow... I c-c-can't even see out the wi-window...

[Being bundled up in layers of clothing isn't helping much as Kai wanders through the hall, cursing under his breath. Here he'd thought the world he'd landed on after his was destroyed had been cold. Sure, he was actually in a building this time instead of a snow-covered forest, but c'mon! And since when did cold bother him this much anyway? Cold is his thing, it's his best magic, it's in his Darkness...this sucks.

At least he'd made sure Surge was warm and taken care of before he headed out. He couldn't see a damn thing through the windows, maybe he'll have better luck with a door somewhere.]

[Anubis was a short-haired dog, so Malik had left him back "home" as well. He'd even fashioned a nest out of the blankets on his and Bakura's side-by-side bunk beds, ensuring that Anubis had plenty to keep him warm.

Malik, on the other hand only had a leather jacket, and when that didn't prove warm enough he threw on a long-sleeved shirt underneath it.

He was still shivering as he made his way down the hall and spotted Kai.]

Oi. Have you seen the other half of the building? Is it the same down there?

[...Someone hates him. That's it. Or it's punishment for being stuck here and not whacking things with the Keyblade. He gives Malik the once-over and snorts. Wasn't there a better coat in his closet? Stupid school.]

I was trying this way first. Guess that's pointless. [He tugs his hands out of his pockets and creates a small ball of flame, cupping it between his gloved palms. He might share, Malik, if you ask nice.

[This was more snow than Ryou had seen in years. Sure, it snowed a lot in Japan, but the mountain areas were more prone to the heavy stuff. It was rare for people to get snowed in as much as this.

He'd resorted to his old clothing style; an unfashionable woolen sweater with a green shirt underneath it, the collar folded neatly on top. Even so, he was still freezing. He should have taken the spirit's coat too...]

Well, at l-least the snow fort will be more feasible once some of this melts down...

[Blowing on his hands for warmth, he rubs them together awkwardly. Better go stock up on tea...]

B-bakura! [Malik had woken up early as usual. Noticing how cold it was, he'd even made a little nest out of blankets in their joint beds so Anubis wouldn't get cold.

Right now, he was barging back into the apartment, a wide-eyed look of awe on his face. He registers this is Ryou, and not Bakura, after a moment.]

Ryou--There's snow everywhere.

I'm not surprised... It looks like it snowed really heavily last night.

[Ryou is definitely a lot calmer than Malik, despite the cold. Thinking about it, snow was really rare in Egypt, wasn't it? His father had said it never seemed to snow when he was there...]

This is the first time you've been snowed in, right? Me too.

[Pressing her nose up against the window, all Saft sees is white and in Saft's world? Snow for a dragon is a very bad thing. This can only mean one thing? She's going to have to find as many warm blankets and layer herself up. The last thing she wants is to become ill because of some truly horrible snowy weather.

You might find her wandering around the halls with a rather thick bed duvet wrapped around her.]

[...wow, Saft looks really wrapped up with that. Ryou only has to look at her for a moment before getting an idea.]

Saft-san! Will you wait here a minute?

[Well he's being polite, so it must be Ryou in charge at the moment. She blinks and rubs the back of her neck.]

Uh, sure Ryou, but why?

[ He couldn't even see outside... It was like being in Alaska again. Snake sat in his shared dorm, standing at the window with an unlit cigarette in his mouth. Sibyll always got after him for smoking in the dorm.

The good thing about this sneaking suit was that it insulated his body from the cold... Though his head was still feeling the nippy air. If it was this cold inside, he could only imagine how bad it was outside. ]

[Otacon made his way through the pile of people, some shivering, others looking pretty miserable. It seemed everyone was stuck inside with no where to go. Otacon made his way towards Snake's dorm. He knew where it was now, since arrival. He knocked on the door twice and awaited an answer.]

Snake? It's me.

[ Hearing Otacon's voice, Snake turned to the door and wandered toward it. He unlocked it, opening it a crack. ]

Otacon?

[ He opens the door a bit wider now. ]

[Luke peers out the window only to be met with a great big wall of white. At first he thought the window just frosted over, but when he tries to open the door he realizes what's happening.]

Ah, shit.

[Detroit didn't get nearly this much snow -- nor did Chicago, usually. But he's been snowed in before. Just not...to this extent. So much for going out. He's half tempted to blast the door handle off with his shotgun and dig passed all the snow (the idea of being stuck inside wasn't very appealing), but it's just a passing thought. Being outside in all the snow wouldn't be much better.

With one last dirty look at the exit, Luke turns around and continues his daily routine search for James -- in case he showed up.]

[One look out the window and Harriet knew this snow and chill weren't going anywhere. Luckily her dorm is never without hot tea... it seems like the most comfort she'll have will be on the couch with a cave of blankets. But thanks to this place's inconveniences, even that cannot be done without some preparation. She'll be leaving her dorm dressed in layers and sweaters, carrying a tote bag.

Her destination is the library. Once there, she heads to the movies section and stocks up on titles of all sorts.]

[Malik was in the library as well, although he wasn't here for the books. Using the Rod, he'd taken a glance through Harriet's eyes and discerned her location to meet her halfway.

After all he had a Rose Duelist style deck ready, customized entirely around Mucus Yolk's ability. What better time to duel than now, when they were snowed-in?

He would go crazy from the familiar darkness and claustrophobic atmosphere without it.]

Oi, oi, Harriet. Long time no see.

[blissfully unaware of Malik's stalking, Harriet looks over amiably as she tucks some selections into her bag.]

Hey - time flies. How was your New Year?

[Snowed in? Nope, screw that. Alex set to work tunneling his way out of a door as soon as he realized there was no other way out. It's not that he's claustrophobic or anything; in fact, he'd probably enjoy some quiet solitude for a while. No, the issue is that the only two choices of food he has now are the cafeteria and the other residents, and he'd rather avoid the problems each presents for now.

Luckily, the snow seems to be just moist enough to stick together well, so his already deep tunnel seems to be holding together as he works.]

[Ooh, a tunnel! Sibyll, in her insatiable curiosity, follows the pre-made tunnel to freedom. Her wanderlust nature had made the blizzard intolerable by Day 1. So any potential escape was welcome.

Unfortunate, snow was a medium the Courier was not too familiar with. She was able to crawl along for a few feet before the snow collapsed. Suddenly muffled by white, she cries out in confusion.]

[He can hear the tunnel collapse behind him, which he wouldn't be worried about if he didn't hear a scream along with it. It just figures that someone else would follow him out... With a sigh, Alex manages to turn himself around and head back down the tunnel. With no time to lose, he starts digging into the collapse.]

You okay in there?

[Well...maybe not okay, but alive and conscious.]

[While Caim could feasibly melt his way out of the Campus, he didn't feel any particular need to do so. The outdoors held nothing that he couldn't already obtain indoors. Instead the hot-headed prince was taking his everlasting fury out on some practice dummies in the gym. With silent cries of attack, he launches himself into the bags of sand, kicking, punching, striking with almost inhuman rage.]

[Jamie isn't any stranger to cold, but this is a little ridiculous. It would've been better by far to just stay in her room in a blanket cave, but instead she'd bundled up and gone wandering. Might as well finish the map she'd started of the place; she was still missing quite a bit, including the gym. Notebook held to her chest, she pushes the door open with her free hand and steps inside, coming to a halt as she sees the man attempting to murder some practice dummies.

Whoops. He really doesn't look like someone she should be disturbing, so she'll just try and slip back out before she gets noticed.]

[ Pressed up against one of the school windows, Louie's leaning forward and craning his neck in an attempt to look up and see just where the snow ends. It's useless seeing as how there's no end in sight but worth the effort. He sounds out a low whistle. ]

Man, ain't never seen nothin' like that before.

[ He used to live in New York City; he's no stranger to snow or blizzards. But this stuff's huge. ]

[Raiden had tried the door for the third time and it still didn't budge. Damn. The snow must be pretty damn thick outside if no one could leave. All he had was a sombrero and poncho to keep him warm. He realised that he must look pretty ridiculous right now but he didn't care. He was trying to keep warm and this is all he had right now.]

[All that banging by one of the doors had finally made Lisa curious as to who or what was causing the racket. Out of all the possible scenarios, a cybernetic man in a sombrero and a serape struggling to open the frozen door was not one the nurse had ever envisioned. She stares at him, tilting her head.]

Um, Halloween's not until October...
