CAMPUS WIDE EVENT: SNOWED IN

[Early morning on the 15th, the building is deathly chilly as well as unusually dark. Even with the heat on people will find themselves wandering the halls and shivering, their breath fogging up in front of them. Anybody foolish enough to try and leave the building will find that the door simply won't budge due to the amount of snow piled against it, and any attempts to exit (or look) through the windows will greet them with a daunting wall of white. Even the courtyard is inaccessible, as is the door leading up to the rooftop.

Outside on the island, it seems a heavy snow storm has blanketed everything in a thick layer of white.]

((ooc: The event will last 7 days, with the first 4 being snowed-in, the 5th being a blizzard, the 6th another snow-in day, and the 7th having the snow melting. A post will be made on the 19th and 21st respectively. You can see the conditions here, and on the weekly weather sticky:

[Raiden had tried the door for the third time and it still didn't budge. Damn. The snow must be pretty damn thick outside if no one could leave. All he had was a sombrero and poncho to keep him warm. He realised that he must look pretty ridiculous right now but he didn't care. He was trying to keep warm and this is all he had right now.]

[All that banging by one of the doors had finally made Lisa curious as to who or what was causing the racket. Out of all the possible scenarios, a cybernetic man in a sombrero and a serape struggling to open the frozen door was not one the nurse had ever envisioned. She stares at him, tilting her head.]

Um, Halloween's not until October...

Huh? [He turned around and frowned. What the hell? Did she just say Halloween? Raiden just stared and then noticed she was dressed like a nurse.]

This isn't for show. I got this in Mexico when I was out there. Are you supposed to be some kind of stripper gram? [Insult right back at you.]

[The woman looks first shocked and stunned, then her mouth twists downwards into a insulted frown.]

Excuse me! This is a proper nurses uniform, thank you very much!

Oh yeah? Well, maybe you shouldn't have insulted me first. It's cold outside, you know? [He shot her a glance. Sorry, he's just annoyed because he feels trapped and he's irritable.]

Are you the nurse who lives in the Nurse's Office here? I've walked past the door loads of times.

I wasn't trying to insult you. I just don't get why you're wearing, um, that.

[She folds her arms across her chest. It certainly looked like it should be freezing, based on the blizzard outside. Oddly enough, however, Lisa didn't really feel it.]

I'm one of them. I mean, I help out, but I was also taken from somewhere else, like most everybody here.

[The nurse darts a little closer, trying to get a look at Raiden's body underneath the poncho. He looked mechanical. How did that even work?]

It's ok. I'm sorry if I insulted you too, I didn't mean to. [He shrugged and offered her a small smile.]

So, you're a nurse who works here but before that, you were somewhere else? Do they take nurses from anywhere and force them to work here? [He found the whole idea rather sick. The whole "kidnapping" thing. Raiden stepped back a little when he felt the nurse trying to take a peek under his poncho.]

Can I help you? Oh, let me guess. You've never seen a cyborg before, right?

Yeah, I'm from a little town called Silent Hill. I don't know how I got here. But they're not forcing me to work. I just help out because, uh, well, it's not like I have anything else to do.

[She laughs nervously when he calls her out on trying to get a better look at him.]

Um, no, except for maybe in the movies? How are you talking? Y-you don't have a lower lip!

[Interest turns to uneasiness as Lisa realizes just how little of the human Raiden remained. It looked like just his upper face was still organic. Everything else was metal and plastic. It was rather creepy.

But then she realizes she's being extremely rude.]

I'm sorry. Like I said, I've never seen anyone like you before.

Silent Hill? [Raiden had heard the name from somewhere but he couldn't place from where. From a book or something like that? His memory was foggy.]

I'm better than the Terminator, you know. Much faster and stronger. [He smirked slightly. Boasting wasn't a crime. He did love it when he saw people's reactions to his cybernetic body.]

I know. Most of my body couldn't be recovered after my ordeal, so I was fashioned a new lower jaw, along with the rest of my body.

Sadly for Lisa, she's from the 70s, and Terminator hasn't come out yet

[Lisa can't help herself. She reaches out and taps at his forearm. The feel of metal apparently startles her and she pulls her arm back, eyes wide with morbid fascination. Then something occurs to her.]

But if you're a robot, how are you cold?

I'm a cyborg not a robot. There's a difference. Even though I have a metal exoskeleton, I still have human DNA fused into the metal compound. It's kind of complicated but I still have veins and arteries within my limbs and body. Just like a normal human.

My body still sends signals to my brain to tell me if it is cold or hot outside. I still feel the effects.

[Did that make any sense? He hopes so.]

Lisa's life truly is tragic. :(

[The first part flew over her head. DNA fused to metal? How in the world was that accomplished? It starts to click in her mind once he brings up the idea of still having a circulatory system. Lisa doesn't entirely understand how or why, but she is still a nurse. She may have no clue what technology powers Raiden, but she does know how a body works.]

Oh, I'm sorry. I'd offer you something, but there's not really anything in the nurse's office besides gauze and a spare uniform or two. And I don't think you'd want that.

[She giggles a little, trying to picture Raiden not only in his sombrero and poncho, but also in a scrub dress.]

Do you want my sweater? I'm not really that cold.

A nurses uniform? Give me a break. [He rolled his eyes. What would Rose think of him then? She'd probably think he was drunk. Again. He used to, a long time ago.]

No thanks. My poncho and sombrero are rather comfy. [He adjusted the big hat, which looked rather ridiculous on his head and smiled.]
