CAMPUS WIDE EVENT: SNOWED IN

[Early morning on the 15th, the building is deathly chilly as well as unusually dark. Even with the heat on people will find themselves wandering the halls and shivering, their breath fogging up in front of them. Anybody foolish enough to try and leave the building will find that the door simply won't budge due to the amount of snow piled against it, and any attempts to exit (or look) through the windows will greet them with a daunting wall of white. Even the courtyard is inaccessible, as is the door leading up to the rooftop.

Outside on the island, it seems a heavy snow storm has blanketed everything in a thick layer of white.]

((ooc: The event will last 7 days, with the first 4 being snowed-in, the 5th being a blizzard, the 6th another snow-in day, and the 7th having the snow melting. A post will be made on the 19th and 21st respectively. You can see the conditions here, and on the weekly weather sticky:

[Otacon made his way through the pile of people, some shivering, others looking pretty miserable. It seemed everyone was stuck inside with no where to go. Otacon made his way towards Snake's dorm. He knew where it was now, since arrival. He knocked on the door twice and awaited an answer.]

Snake? It's me.

[ Hearing Otacon's voice, Snake turned to the door and wandered toward it. He unlocked it, opening it a crack. ]

Otacon?

[ He opens the door a bit wider now. ]

Yeah, it's me. Are you ok, Snake? It's freezing outside and I wondered if you are ok being stuck in your room. [He noticed that his friend was being cautious; a wise decision.]

Better stuck in here than out there... Come on in, pal.

[ He opens the door wider, letting his friend in. Sibyll wasn't in right now, and he was pretty sure she wouldn't mind a geek in their room. ]

How're you holding up?

Thanks. [Otacon walked in and noticed Snake was alone. The guy seemed to be alone a lot these days.]

I'm doing ok, despite the cold. How about you? I guess you're probably used to this, being from Alaska.

Come on, I'm not from Alaska. [ Growl. ] I just lived there for a while... It's good if you want to be in isolation.

[ He sits down on his bed, fingering the unlit cigarette in his mouth. ] Anyway, I'm doing ok. This suit you made for me's great for insulating me from the cold.

Ok, sorry. [The engineer shrugged and offered a sympathetic smile to Snake.]

You're still tough as old boots I see. We had some good times together back at Shadow Moses island. [And some bad. Sniper Wolf....sniff..]

I'm glad it's helping, as I knew it would come in handy. Just make sure you don't use it to spy on women getting changed, hm? [He's totally joking here and being a dork. As usual.]

[ At that last part, Snake gives a weird smirk. ]

I don't need to spy. [ PERKS OF ROOMING WITH A WOMAN WHO LIKED HIM. ] What have you been up to anyway, Otacon?

Snake?! Are you being serious here? [Otacon just gaped. Snake, you lecherous old man, you.]

Still got it in you, huh, Snake? [He shot the older man a smirk.] Oh, you know. Just the usual techy stuff and trying to figure a way out of here. I did try and hack into one of the intercoms the other week but ended up being burnt on the nose and thrown backwards.

When you say "hack", do you mean you just wailed on it with a wrench? [ Raises a brow. ] Not sure it would burn you if you were typing something into a laptop.

No, I didn't use a wrench, Snake. [Otacon rolled his eyes.] I put together a hacking device, like a portable radio. I linked in the cables using some pliers and some clips. I connected my device to the intercom system via one of the speaker systems then....it failed.

I tried to re-route the intercom signal to my device and it made this strange screaming noise. Then I got burnt on the nose and thrown back. It was like it knew I was hacking into it.

... Well, I guess if it were that easy then someone would have done it by now. [ There's a lot of sarcasm in his voice. ] Good of you to try anyway...

I usually just try talking to the "voice behind the curtain", but she never tells me anything useful. Probably just an AI after all.

You reckon she's an AI? Good point. She probably is, as her announcements seem to appear like clockwork. We never even get to see her, so maybe it is just an automated voice. If that is the case, then who's behind the AI? [Yep, he's thinking.]

No idea.

[ Shrugs. ] I'll leave that business to you. Just find me someone who might have information and I'll get it out of them. The tech-y stuff is more up your avenue.

If I manage to hack into the AI at some point and find an escape route, I'll let you know. I'll leave the CQC business to you, as I know that's your forte.
