CAMPUS WIDE EVENT: THE LANGUAGE BARRIER REINSTATED

[Today, something somewhere went wrong. On the evening on the 15th, any bilingual (or otherwise) knowledge granted by the Campus has simply...disappeared. At least for anybody walking by the North Wing.]

Tja ... det här kommer att lägga sordin på våra studier, är nu inte det?

[Translation: Well...this is going to put a damper on our studies, now isn't it?]

((ooc: So! For the next 5 days (the 15th~20th), your character officially only knows their native tongue. Aka, whatever language they primarily grew up with. They can no longer read, speak, or understand any other language but.

For fun you can even use Google Translate to show what your character is speaking at a glance! Don't worry, we all know it's probably gibberish :P

If you go the Google route, please be sure to put a translation at the bottom. If not, then please take care to specify what language your character is speaking in at the start of every thread.

[Thumbs up! Sounds like the kid understands now. He taps the edge of the card where it's pink, and points out some of the other trap cards for comparison.]

Alright... so these trap card things are all pink?

[He picks up a couple more from the cards, putting them with the first one and giving Yami a questioning look.]

[He gives him a serious nod. That was right. Trap cards were always pink. The fact that the boy picked up on that already is good.]

I don't know how to explain spell cards without words...

[He glances at Yami once the ancient Egyptian gibberish starts again, then just back at the cards.

Almost curiously, he begins to separate them based on their color, putting the traps in one pile and the spells in another. He hesitates a little when he gets to the monster cards, noting their different colors, but eventually puts them together in one pile.

It's only once he gets to the Black Magician that he fully stops, tilting his head at the card curiously.

...he kinda likes this one. The magician looks really cool and strong.]

-! [The fact that the boy picked that one out so fast... that's interesting.]

'Black Magician'.

[Even if he didn't have all of his cards memorized by now, that one would be called to his memory in a flash. It was too precious a card to him not to.]

Black... Magician?

[It sounds so weird to his ears, but maybe once this gets fixed, he can ask what it's called for real.

He can tell it's a really important one from the look on Yami's face, though, so he puts it aside until he's done sorting the rest of the cards, then gently places it on top of the monster stack.]

You got these monster things... the blue cards... and the trap card things... is that all?

[Carefully, he takes out a fusion card, setting it down, before retrieving two of it's components. He holds them separate, then brings them together, puts them back in the pile and picks up the fusion card.]

...Oh! A fusion!

[He knows about that pretty well, if just because it's the focus of a technique from back home.]

So these two make this one... that's easy.

[Good. The kid got that bit easily. He taps the names of them, before pointing out where they were written on the fusion card.

...then at last he finds a possible way to indicate spell cards. Taking one of them, he mimes throwing his hand out dramatically, as if casting a spell.]

[He nods in understanding, making a note of where the names are, just in case. The dramatic pose just gets a confused look from him, Tenar tilting his head a little.

Yami, unfortunately, is trying to explain magic to someone who comes from a world where it only very sparsely exists. The pose doesn't really seem to mean much to him, and he just gives a helpless look.]

... [Sigh. He taps the trap card, then places the magic card face up and mimes a magic attack. He could have done with watching more anime or something if he was going to have to explain this...]

[What was he doing...

Tenar frowns, thoughtfully, then seems to hit on an idea. He manifests the ki ball in his hands again, then mimics throwing it at the wall without actually throwing it. He disperses it, then spreads his hands out to mimic an explosion.

Is it like that?]

[Finally! He flashes him a victory sign, nodding.]

Okay. I think I kinda get it. So this is a "ki" card? Or something with that kinda energy?

[It's probably close enough for now. Weird thinking of ki represented by cards, though.]

[Not a clue what the kid means, but he sets the magic card back.]

Now you know the basics.

[He'll make a duelist of you! ...maybe. If you like that stuff.]

[He could probably get behind it, but he's the kind who'd always have to go get his deck from the dorm. He doesn't want to bleed on it or anything.]

Um... okay...?

[What are you speaking in.]

... [Ugh, he really hates this. Oh well. That billboard had mentioned magic... maybe he should track down that Rin girl or ask Karasu and find out what they knew about it. If either of them understood. Gathering the cards up again, he stacks them nearly into his deck and puts it into his card pouch before giving Tenar a smile.

Questioningly, he points to Tenar's hand. Does it hurt at all?]

[...maybe they can continue the lesson later. Tenar waits until Yami gets his cards safely away, then plops into the chair, kicking his legs a little like a bored child.

At the point, he looks down, then shakes his head a little.]

No, doesn't hurt.

[They definitely shall! It'll be easier once they can talk about it. But, since that's done...]

[Oh, right. The kid can't understand him. Hm... He points to the door and mimes throwing dice.]
