CAMPUS WIDE EVENT: THE LANGUAGE BARRIER REINSTATED

[Today, something somewhere went wrong. On the evening on the 15th, any bilingual (or otherwise) knowledge granted by the Campus has simply...disappeared. At least for anybody walking by the North Wing.]

Tja ... det här kommer att lägga sordin på våra studier, är nu inte det?

[Translation: Well...this is going to put a damper on our studies, now isn't it?]

((ooc: So! For the next 5 days (the 15th~20th), your character officially only knows their native tongue. Aka, whatever language they primarily grew up with. They can no longer read, speak, or understand any other language but.

For fun you can even use Google Translate to show what your character is speaking at a glance! Don't worry, we all know it's probably gibberish :P

If you go the Google route, please be sure to put a translation at the bottom. If not, then please take care to specify what language your character is speaking in at the start of every thread.

[Uncoupling the deck pouch, he takes out his Battle City deck and the cards he always keeps with it. There's more than the average there, solely because he swaps them out. Aside from the three most precious, he holds them out for Kai to see.]

[His hand drops from his face and Kai leans forward to look at them. After a moment he gestures to the cards and then himself. Can he touch them?]

That's...wow. My deck's still disorganized.

[Karasu's been helping a lot, but really, he hasn't quite settled on some things yet.]

[He nods, handing the cards to him without hesitation or fear. If this is one of Karasu's friends, they're worth trusting that much. She's too nice a girl to be evil.]

These cards are the deck that we made together.

[Taking them carefully, Kai spreads them out in his hands and begins to look through them. Yugi's got some pretty neat cards in here. Kai's been fixating on dragons in his, which really shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone that knows him.]

Really cool.

[He looks up at his voice, curious. They're going to have to talk again once everything makes sense. Kai smiles faintly, shaking his head, before he lays both arms on the table so he can spread the cards out more and not drop them. That's a mistake, as damn it he keeps forgetting.]

Ow!

[Here Yugi, you get your cards back so he can check his arm. That hoodie's going back on in a minute.]

[Taking the cards, he slips them back into the pouch for a moment and reaches out to take Kai's arm so he can look at it.]

[Hey, that's his arm- Well, he's not doing anything to it, so Kai just sighs and lets Yugi look at it. The scar doesn't look all that pleasant, recently healed and a little jagged. It might have looked better if Kai hadn't needed two kinds of treatment for it. Seriously, next time he's going with magic only.]

At least it's kind of in the middle there, and not closer to my elbow. It was my own fault, I need to stop pissing off Bakura.

[A slight eye-roll at that, because really, he doesn't think it's possible. Some people are alcoholics, and apparently Kai's a 'Piss off the Creeper for fun' kind of guy. But acknowledging that he has a problem's the first step, right?]

[At the name, he tenses. Bakura-? Karasu had mentioned he was here, but she'd never made it clear which one was in control. With the way she talked, it implied Bakura-kun, rather than the dark spirit, had been the one hanging around... But this wound was in no way that soft boy's work. His lip curls in anger and he lets Kai's arm go.]

You should be more careful around that guy. He's dangerous.

[...yeah, stating the obvious.]

[Kai might've assumed he was getting a lecture if it wasn't for the other boy's reaction. Maybe he still is. He raises an eyebrow and silently curses this stupid school for the millionth time.]

You've met him too?

[Ugh. Where's his can of bug spray when he needs it? He slips his card back into the shirt pocket before tugging his hoodie on. Once his head's through, he speaks again, as useless as it is.]

I'm baking Ryou a cake once the Creeper's finally gone...though I don't know how the hell we'll manage that.

[Really, he makes Kai think of a cockroach that survives being nuked.]

...? [He just raises an eyebrow in response. Of course he can't understand. Lifting a hand, he rests it against the Puzzle hanging around his neck. It's the closest thing he can do to say that he has experience with that guy.]

...then Bakura is here as well as the spirit?

[That's something, at least. It means his soul has not yet been supressed by the dark spirit. Yugi resurfaces in his mind at this conversation, sounding worried, but there's nothing he can say to reassure him. Being able to communicate... it's a blessing he has been failing to appreciate, it seems.]

[And that gesture? Means nothing to Kai, until he takes a closer look at the puzzle itself. That eye looks familiar, doesn't it. Why didn't he notice that sooner? He gives Yugi a sudden suspicious look, then slumps in his chair. Yugi's not setting off any of the alarm bells he gets from Bakura, so...]

...We've really got to talk once this is over.

[Sighing, he pushes his bangs out of his eyes and sits back up, tapping his chest and then motioning toward the library door. He should get back.]

You're going, then? [He lifts a hand in a casual wave. Ah... he can't wait for this to pass.]

[He flashes him a smile as he rises; despite the irritation of not understanding each other, it was good meeting him.]
