CAMPUS WIDE EVENT: THE LANGUAGE BARRIER REINSTATED

[Today, something somewhere went wrong. On the evening on the 15th, any bilingual (or otherwise) knowledge granted by the Campus has simply...disappeared. At least for anybody walking by the North Wing.]

((ooc: So! For the next 5 days (the 15th~20th), your character officially only knows their native tongue. Aka, whatever language they primarily grew up with. They can no longer read, speak, or understand any other language but.

For fun you can even use Google Translate to show what your character is speaking at a glance! Don't worry, we all know it's probably gibberish :P

If you go the Google route, please be sure to put a translation at the bottom. If not, then please take care to specify what language your character is speaking in at the start of every thread.

[Since he only seems to notice it now when he accidentally puts pressure on it, not bad at all. He got lucky.]

About him being a Creeper and just using Karasu. I didn't get what I was hoping for, but it might have screwed him over just the same. [He snorts as Tenar points that out; he knows that!] I know! I admit it was stupid, but by then I was just so mad at some of what he said, I couldn't help it.

[Kai grumbles to himself and shifts position to lean against the wall again.]

Sounds great. Though I think it makes me miss my childhood. [He smiles a bit to show he's mostly kidding.] I think mom felt the same way about cities, and that's why we lived in a small one. Or maybe she was just worried about me getting lost.

That's really dangerous. [Tenar's voice is suddenly -- and surprisingly -- serious.] If you let someone get you so mad that you start doing stupid stuff, then you've lost control of the fight. 'cause if they can get you that mad, then you'll mess up and make worse mistakes than that.

And if you're trying to protect someone... you're putting them in trouble, too.

[The tone to his voice makes it sound like he's speaking from experience -- and really, he is. He knows it all too well.]

[That stings, hearing this from someone so young, but he's right. Kai knows that.]

It's funny, I don't think things like this bothered me so much back home. I didn't have friends, really...I mean, there were kids I went to school with, and did homework with, but no one I ever invited over just to goof off. And after...

[Kai's voice trails off, and he doesn't say anything for a long moment. He can keep running all he wants, nothing ever changes it. Hell, that incident in December with the 'fake' Heartless proved that.

He just irritates me beyond belief for some reason. I'll work on it, you're right. Better to keep a level head.

[He glances over at Tenar, sighing.] Voice of experience, huh?

Maybe that's why? I mean, I get angry if someone's hurting innocent people, but making fun of them doesn't really mean anything to me. But if someone makes fun of Surito or Kohlrain or Chihaya, I get really, really mad. Because they're my friends.

[Tenar shrugs a little, not bothering to hide it.]

They did that before. They hurt Chihaya and made fun of her, and I got so mad I couldn't even think straight. So I did... some bad stuff and hurt some people I didn't want to because of it.

Yeah...mess with my friends, you mess with me. [Kai shakes his head. Geeze, the things his family would not approve of. Well, the methods, at least.]

How bad? [Hopefully not 'chucking people into cars' bad.] Though if you don't want to talk about it, no problem.

[He rubs his arm a little, then sighs.]

I hit... a spot with some people with a Kamehameha. We were fighting in a city, and not everyone could get away fast enough.

I didn't kill anyone! But... I hurt them. And I got hurt too when I sorta froze up at seeing that.

[Just...going to cringe a little at the image of that. Okay, maybe a lot. And since he doesn't really have any words for it at the moment, the kid's getting another hug. Not a long one, but any kind of reassurance is good, right?]

[Tenar blinks, then hugs back, thankful for the gesture.]

S'okay. They got better, because I didn't kill anyone. But that's why I know I can't get angry like that again, 'cause... I could hurt someone really bad that way.

I'm glad for that. You don't need that hanging over your head. [Definitely not at his age.]

I was never much of a threat. [Really, he wasn't. Not before his world fell. Kai messes with Tenar's hair again, just barely, before sitting back.]

But I had- still have- my mom's temper. And now that I know magic and have the Keyblade- ['And sort of control over Heartless' almost slips out, but he stops himself just in time] -I could do some damage if I wanted to. Don't, though. Not really. Not how I was raised.

[He doesn't swat at the ruffling this time, just looking up.]

I know. You're a really nice person, Kai. And I don't think you'd hurt people on purpose unless they'd deserve it. But... be careful, okay?

Sometimes... even if you don't mean to, you can lose control and go crazy.

[Ha, Kai thinks his might have done the same, if she knew about the things he's considered. Even though she didn't have a leg to stand on, having done worse.]

[He looks a little surprised at that, then a faint smile crosses his face.]

[There are two things wrong with that statement: Surge is nowhere near a puppy except in behavior, and by 'maul' Kai really means 'lick me to death and then sit on me forever'.]

Sure! I was sitting up here for a long time anyway, so I'm pretty hungry! Let's bring a steak back for Surge, too, since he kept me company.

That dog's going to end up adoring you more than he does already. [Kai lets out a short laugh, getting to his feet. Stairs? Stairs.]

C'mon, I'll race you! Wait, no flying, you've got to run.

[Glad he caught that, but it might not make much of a difference...so Kai just cheats and gives himself a head start. Bye Tenar!]

It's- [Watch out for that step, and there's the last one!] oomph- not cheating, it's leveling the playing field!

[Yeeeah, he'll just keep telling himself that, even as he reaches out a hand and throws Barrier up in Tenar's way. The spell swirls into existence, a translucent blue usually, but currently tainted with black and dark purple around the edges. Kai barely registers that, more intent on bracing himself for the impact. It shouldn't hurt Tenar any when he hits, but Kai's going to feel it some in any case.]

Watch out for the ice on the floor!

[Ha ha, what ice.]

[Leveling the playing field is asking for the head-start, duh.]

[And that's the only response Kai manages before Tenar hits the spell, and holy Light that is not okay. The echo of the impact knocks the wind out of him, and Barrier disperses before he falls to his knees.

So much for bracing himself. After a few moments of surprised silence, Kai lifts his head.]

You...hit that harder than I expected.

[The comment's followed by a breathless laugh and a question.] You okay?
