[Whoops. She's running a little late it seems, for today, the intercoms buzz into action a little late.]

Ahem. Attention, students!

[The husky voice of - well, the Voice that speaks over the intercom - echoes through the halls.]

Now that we're all done with our bout of spring sickness, it's time to buckle down to our studies! Remember that tests may appear at any time, and it would be such a shame if you were all to fail and be kept back another year.

And don't forget to be welcoming to our new arrivals, won't you? They're quite behind the times, after all.

[Really, really aware of that. Kai fights off the scowl creeping up, shaking his head as he picks the comic up by the corners.]

It's okay...and don't worry about this, it's the library's thing, not mine.

[Glancing up, he manages a faint smile.] I'm all for ruining stuff that belongs to this place.

[Yeah, that was an insensitive thing to say, wasn't it. She just gets the drink silently, handing it to Kai without looking at him.]

Don't be, I need to get over it.

[Really, he does. The sooner, the better. He takes the soda, frowning up at her.]

Karasu...

[Soda, meet table, because Kai's reaching out to grab her wrist, trying to tug her down so he can hug her.]

[Whoa hey what?!

Karasu blinks, stiff for a moment, then hugs him back, closing her eyes.]

[He's not mad at her, honestly, just himself. He doesn't hold the hug too long - really, he shouldn't have tried yanking her down in the first place - before he lets go, smiling up at her.]

So I'll save you cake, and we'll have to get those pictures done sometime, right? And the cooking lessons?

[Happy, fun things.]

[She smiles back a little, nodding.]

Yes! Pictures and cake and cooking lessons... I'm all free for you and Ryou.

...You know, if all of us end up in the kitchen at the same time, something's going to catch on fire. Not intentionally, I already warned Ryou! Unless I'm eating it, food and I don't get along. Except when I bake, that's different.

[Very, very different. Kai laughs, slouching in his chair again.]

So now you've been warned too. I can make soup, and sandwiches, and my hamburgers come out mostly charred...you've seen what happens when I cook the poor woodland creatures. Raw in all the wrong places.

[Really, he's happy pre-cooked food exists, whether that means he only has to reheat it or someone else made it.]
