Of course. I don't remember anything about my past, or who I was when I was alive, except for the fact that I was apparently a muscle-bound idiot. He's here, if you were curious.

On top of that, there's gaps in my memory too.

Which part? The amnesia's part of the magic that bound me in here. I get glimpses, at times... but they're momentary, and usually specialized. I didn't get anything of the sort before meeting 'him', so it's probably a side-effect of encountering my enemy.

The memory gaps... I can't explain them away so easily. It's strange. Usually I can remember anything that happens, even if I'm not in control... but these black spots are coming out of nowhere, now. Maybe it's just hitting an overload of information.

[Or maybe Ryou's hiding something. Nah. That can't be.]

[Her voice takes on an odd tone. It's not quite sympathy. Nor is it pity. Is it...understanding? Her expression doesn't give away any additional clues as to what she's thinking.

That's right. [It's an odd tone to hear from her. He's used to her teasing, but this is new. For once, he doesn't jerk away, just letting her touch it. It's warm, but that's about the only unique thing to its feeling. There isn't even a tingle of magic right now.]

It was a shock at first... waking up in that thing with no knowledge of anything. It became clear pretty fast that nobody else had a clue who I was either, so I just ended up drifting around for a while. Helped a few people out, fucked a few people over, robbed a few tombs... Mostly just hung around and tried to learn what I could from peoples' minds, since Shadi wasn't being much of a help.

Heh heh... [That is not a nice laugh, but it's not directed at her.] Shadi's the guardian of the Millennium Items. He handles the thieves and wicked souls who'd seek to obtain their power undeservedly.

He doesn't like me. Can't imagine why.

[He can't hide his laughter. If nothing else, he's not embarrassed to admit he's an asshole. But the other bit...]

It's just little pieces. Nothing too personal. [Closing his eyes, he focuses. He won't tell her about the Blue-Eyes, or the Door to Darkness... What else does he remember, and didn't just learn about secondhand?]

I remember... [Hm? What is this? His voice turns thoughtful, fingers tapping against the table.] ...A woman speaking to me. I can't understand the words, but I know what they mean. She's telling me to hide. I can hear something like screaming in the background, but she sounds more resigned than frightened.

Hmph. I can't remember her face. Just her voice. [Opening his eyes, he glowers irritably into the air.]

[NO. She is NOT jealous of a crazy 3000 year old spirit who she hates and is still planning on destroying somehow. Okay, maybe a little.]

No. My memories tend to be tied into the situation that triggers them. So all I remember is glimpses of fights, usually. Occasionally flickers that point me in the right direction.

I didn't even have that before I made contact with the Millennium Puzzle.

Point you in the direction of anything in particular? Or just your overall goal of killing another spirit stuck in a bit of gold possessing another kid?

I told you, didn't I? I didn't remember anything for the first couple of thousand years. What it pointed me in the right direction of was my goal.

But that's not important. I already had my sights set on the Pharaoh from long before that. Feelings transcend memories sometimes, you know?

Sounds like the gods would have plenty to do in Vegas. It must be why they're so interested in the area.

[But Sibyll knows better. The dust up in the Mojave is the work of people, not deities. So far Caesar is the closest thing to a god that she knows, and he's still very much a man.]
