CAMPUS WIDE EVENT: SNOWED IN
[Early morning on the 15th, the building is deathly chilly as well as unusually dark. Even with the heat on people will find themselves wandering the halls and shivering, their breath fogging up in front of them. Anybody foolish enough to try and leave the building will find that the door simply won't budge due to the amount of snow piled against it, and any attempts to exit (or look) through the windows will greet them with a daunting wall of white. Even the courtyard is inaccessible, as is the door leading up to the rooftop.
Outside on the island, it seems a heavy snow storm has blanketed everything in a thick layer of white.]
((ooc: The event will last 7 days, with the first 4 being snowed-in, the 5th being a blizzard, the 6th another snow-in day, and the 7th having the snow melting. A post will be made on the 19th and 21st respectively. You can see the conditions here, and on the weekly weather sticky:
15th Wed: -32~-20°F; 20 mph; SNOWED IN
16th Thurs: -30~-23°F; 26 mph; SNOWED IN
17th Fri: -28~-18°F; 18 mph; SNOWED IN
18th Sat: -37~-29°F; 21 mph; SNOWED IN
19th Sun: -45~-38°F; 32 mph; SNOWED IN / BLIZZARD CONDITIONS
20th Mon: -15~0°F; 15 mph; SNOWED IN
21st Tues: 10~20°F; 5 mph winds; SNOW MELTING
Mingle, tag around, make your own posts and most of all--have fun! If you have any questions just contact the mod account. Characters with magic powers or a lot of strength CAN get through the doors, but those doors won't stay clear for long. The snow is VERY heavy.))

[Ryou jumps in surprise as Malik moves him, but relaxes after a moment. It's... really weird, lying here like this. Not unpleasant; Malik is warm and the rhythm of his breathing is soothing. But it's strange.
Oh well. Best not to think about it, he supposes. After all, it's not like it means anything. It's just comfort, that's all.]
no subject
He ran his fingers through that soft hair, and wasn't ashamed to stay close enough that he could catch the sweet scent of his shampoo.]
no subject
But even so... despite the intimacy of it - or maybe because of it? - it felt good. Closing his eyes, he leaned into the touches. Oh well, he found himself thinking. He gets enough use out of my body... I might as well enjoy what he gives back.]
no subject
Ryou may have thought that Malik didn't see a difference between them, but that wasn't true. He knew this was Ryou, that this body was Ryou's, and that Bakura lived in the Ring.
It was true that he often saw Ryou as nothing but a vessel, and it'd taken a long time for him to grow past that visage, but the fact was he had. Even if he got annoyed, sometimes... When Ryou didn't do what he wanted, when he did something that would jeopardize his time with Bakura. It was still selfish of him in many ways, but Malik never really cared about being selfish.
He had come to the realization that as long as the spirit shared this body, he would have to share what little kindness he had to keep things the way he liked them. It wasn't just that; that duality between them reminded him and his other half. He still felt a strange pang of guilt for enabling it all, but it was so easily smothered by his own happiness, and his own gain, that he'd almost completely forgotten about it.
It's not that he didn't like Ryou. The boy's softness had grown on his cold exterior and slowly worn it away. He didn't mind having friends. He just liked to think himself better than them.
But despite all his charisma, and all his powers of persuasion, Malik utterly fails around Ryou, and he's pretty sure the boy barely tolerates him. He can never bring himself to be too kind unless it's necessary. He doesn't want to get too attached...
That similarity between the two of them might actually start to bother him.]
I still plan to get out of here, you know.
no subject
But in that way, wasn't he being selfish by not considering it? No, even if he was, he wanted to stay with people that liked him. He'd been unselfish for a long time. But lately, it was starting to feel as though those rules of politeness were a noose rather than a guide. Maybe it was seeing just how free the people here were. Sure, half of them were scary assholes - his past self apparently included - but they seemed... happy. Was he unhappy? He didn't think he was. But for some reason, that jealousy was still there. Jealousy of people who could stand up for themselves without needing it to be life-threatening before they resisted. Even with his lessons, he still wasn't capable of that. Someday, perhaps.]
Are you still planning to kidnap me?
no subject
It's not like that. I'm just taking you home. [Of course, Ryou isn't the only one who can use wording to his advantage.]
Besides... This place is nothing more than a prison, liable to kill us all at any moment. Even if Bakura would let me, I wouldn't leave you here. [That part, at least, was honest.]
no subject
And even if he returns home, it's not like his father will even have noticed he was gone. It'll just be that same solitude again. Even if Malik had said he wanted them to go to Egypt, he didn't know if that was wise. It would be continuing the same story they did here. But the spirit and Malik... They'd never let him be. Until he was able to throw off the spirit entirely, he'd have to tolerate it.]
Why? Just because I'm his host?
no subject
But that doesn't mean I feel the same way. When my plans are done, and I go back to Egypt, I could easily just take the Ring alone with me, but I wanted to take you too. You're more than just Bakura's vessel or a body I've grown comfortable with. When you're not being needlessly upset with me, I enjoy your company.
[He didn't want to get attached, but at the same time, he didn't want to lose everything he'd gained while he was here. If putting part of himself out on the line was what it took, it was nothing he'd never done before.]
1/2
[It's typical of Malik. It's an answer that both insults and warms at the same time. Much like Malik himself. Malik is a person that is covered in thorns; the closer you get, the more likely those thorns will pierce you. But thorns are just that. They don't do more than make you bleed. Someone with such a nature... even if he wanted to let people close, he'd end up piercing them. But was that such a bad thing? Malik is selfish and rude, and very much bossy... But he's nowhere near as cold as he was when he originally revealed himself.
And...
Despite those jabs at his 'needless' upsets, the words were touching. It's true... the Ring could find a new host. If anyone could persuade the spirit to do so, it would be Malik. But it would be easy too to ignore Ryou entirely. Malik hadn't done that. Despite the harshness of that initial revelation, those few months ago, Malik had tolerated his presence with an odd sort of grace. And it sounded almost as if... Malik considered him a friend in his own regard. Not a close one, of course not... but a friend none-the-less.]
no subject
What pleasant words they were to hear. Even if it was a trap. And maybe it was. But he liked them anyway.]
I... enjoy your company as well.
[When he wasn't being a Weapons Grade Dick.]
I honestly thought you disliked me for a long time. And after a while, that just... downgraded to the point where I felt you didn't think anything of me at all. Good or bad.
I'm glad... that isn't the case.
no subject
Eh, really? I thought you were the one who didn't like me. [Not that he'd be entirely offended, but it did cause problems for him. And it would have been less than desirable.
After all, there was a sort of benefit to it all. It meant whether Bakura was here or Ryou, he always had somebody when he wanted company. They both served different needs--needs he didn't even know he had until he came here.]
Maybe that's why we had trouble getting along sometimes. When you didn't listen to me, it was annoying! You only seemed to care about what you wanted.
[The comments are serious, but have a bit of a playfulness to them.]
no subject
...Ri-ght. That was all me, clearly.
[Sigh. Despite himself... he couldn't help but laugh a little. Malik really was funny like that. Did he really not get it?
And to think of it... both of them thinking the other didn't like them. His tone takes on an amused note.]
Malik-kun, you know most people don't like being ordered around, right? It comes across as if you don't care about them at all.
[Mm... that really was soothing.]
That's why we had trouble... Because you tell, instead of asking.
no subject
Ryou's next observation has him pausing in his petting again, his tone hinting at some familiar irritation. It's minor right now, made obvious by the fact he's still perfectly fine cuddling with Ryou while he says it.]
Was that was the only reason we had trouble? But I do ask. I'm not going to grovel and beg, you know.
no subject
[Ryou lifts his head to look at him, honestly amused.]
When did I ever say I wanted you to grovel or beg? What I mean is... when most people ask, they're willing to accept no for an answer. You assume they'll do it anyway and get mad if people try to say no. It's like nobody ever really said no to you before.
no subject
...That's not true. I'm willing to accept no! [There's no real way out of this except saying what sounds good.]
no subject
You're cute, Malik. [But you're not a good liar.]
no subject
Why are you saying something like that all of a sudden?[Comes his mumbled indignation.]
no subject
It was just me being sentimental.
no subject
[Grumpiness aside, Malik just loops his arms around Ryou and holds him close. This was all a dangerous habit of his, but he just couldn't bring himself to break it.]
no subject
Malik-kun...?
[What, oh what, is he going to do? It would be nice to hear his father's voice again, to play games with everyone again, to go back to the same old places that he knows... Being here's probably ruined any chance he has of getting into a good college though, assuming time has been flowing naturally outside. They won't know until they get there. And Malik had talked about them going to Egypt... It was all so uncertain. What would happen if they did get out of here?]
If we get out of here... want to go to the arcade with me sometime?
no subject
[What did Ryou want now? He was comfortable, so he better not be asking him to move--]
You mean when we get out. And that depends. What's the arcade?
[...More importantly, if Ryou was inviting him to do something when they left, that meant he was agreeing to come with him in the first place, wasn't it?
He knew it was only a matter of time.]
no subject
[He doesn't answer that 'when'. As far as he's concerned, it's an 'if'.]
no subject
[Huffing, he watches Ryou's hair rustle from his breath.] I'm so sick of this place. I want to go places...and do things. I want to be free!
no subject
It'll be alright. We'll get out of here. You just gotta make the most of the time you have free here and try not to fret over it.
