MINGLE: LASER TAG ARENA

[Being from Ancient Egypt and all that, seeing the dark, neon-lite laser tag room is enough to make him stumble back in awe. On the wall are vests with a sensor above the heart, as well as a set of guns.

Just beside that is a set of rules that Bakura sure as hell can't read:

EACH PLAYER TAKES ONE VEST AND ITS CORRESPONDING GUN.
DO NOT COVER UP THE SENSOR ON THE VEST.
THE OBJECTIVE OF THE GAME IS TO HIT THE TARGET ON OTHER PLAYERS' VESTS.
WHEN YOU ARE HIT, YOUR GUN WILL TURN OFF.
THE LAST PLAYER STANDING WINS!

Needless to say, he just takes a gun and decides to explore the room.]

((ooc: decided to intro one of the new rooms that I added last week (I'll also add these specifics to the setting page). Anyway, play laser tag with each other, tag around, and have fun! Feel free to handwave your character re-entering the game if you want to keep playing after they've already lost once.

Also, feel free to be a big fat cheater and not play by the rules, if that's how your character rolls! That's the fun of RP, isn't it?))

Well, then... we'll leave that for later.

[She's written the alphabet in her journal, and begins with trying to teach him every letter, using both her name and his to show what they are and how they mesh together.

It's only going to be a starter few lessons... but she's trying her best to make it interesting, or at least not dull as hell.]

[Most of the letters don't stick. The most he manages to remember are the first few, and what his name looks like when spelled. Even that's mostly thanks to the fact it has two "A"s and a "B" in it.

After awhile, despite her best efforts, Bakura is losing focus and lays back on the bed as he listens...and begins to doze off.]

[moderndaydragon]

So we...

[She pauses, looking over to him as he lays down, tilting her head.]

Hey. You asleep?

[stealshinies]

[The quiet, even breathing and those closed eyes suggest that yes, he's asleep.]

[moderndaydragon]

[...Oh well. She closes the journal, putting it on the night stand for later. She glances over to him, then grabs the blanket from the other bottom bunk, putting it over him.

Hopefully that'll be warm enough. She'll just be grabbing her book and leaving to the living room to let him sleep.]

[Bakura's not out for long. About thirty minutes is all, and when he wakes up he finds himself tangled in a sheet on an empty bed.

...When did he fall asleep?

Getting up, he heads out the bedroom and pokes his head into the living room. His hair is even messier than usual now.]

Good morning, again.

[Huh, that was fast. She didn't expect him to be awake that soon.]

How was your nap?

[stealshinies]

[He'd slept earlier. Boredom-induced naps tend to be the shortest.]

Fine.

[moderndaydragon]

Do you want to pick the lessons up?

[This is almost an actual, nice conversation.]

No.

Rrgh...

[He runs his hands through his hair.] I hate this place.

[moderndaydragon]

So do most people who are here.

[She's not "most," but she doubts he cares.]

I'm bored...I can't handle it!

[He wrings his hair in his hands.] I have so much to do... H-hahaha...

My comrades are all back home! [There's a darkness swelling behind him, like a shadow reaching outwards.]

[moderndaydragon]

[And that darkness has her immediately on her feet and recoiling, her eyes widening. No, no, no. That feeling... that is not a good feeling and she doesn't like it.]

What are you doing?

[stealshinies]

[That darkness starts to recede, and he drops his hands as well as his own weight as he takes a seat on the floor.]

I was thinking about destroying this place...and everyone in it.

[moderndaydragon]

That's not going to help anything and you know it.

And if you do try that... [Maybe it was an idle threat. But from a person like this, she doesn't care, just clenching her hands a little as she lightly brushes that magic inside of her.]

I won't let you go through with it. So remember that.

Stop whining. I wasn't going to do it.

[Bakura draws his knees up and leans his mouth against the flesh just below them, effectively giving him the appearance of a mopey teenager despite his age and build.

He missed his comrades. Even if they couldn't talk, those spirits of Kul Elna had been all he had for so long.]

You'll forgive me for thinking you were serious.

[...Sigh. Stop acting like an actual person, you keep making it hard to dislike you.]

There's not many people who are happy here, but everyone else has to deal with it, too. They all have someone they miss, so even if you don't care, you're not alone in it.

I'm sick of hearing excuses! I don't want anyone's sympathy--it makes me sick, because no one could possibly understand!

[He reaches into a pouch at his side and pulls out the Diabound card, running his thumb over the picture. It's gotten a little worn around the edges in his pocket.]

I have to get home so I can pay the Pharaoh back what he did to me.

Of course no one understands! We're not psychics! If you don't tell anyone anything, there's no possible way they can understand what you're feeling or suffering. Whether you want sympathy or not, that's just how it works with humans.

[Tch... why does she always feel riled up talking to this guy? Sigh. She just blows out a bit of air, calming down and shaking her head. Were it anyone else, she'd say that she herself understood about that all too well, but she has a feeling that will only make it worse.

Or at least, just get her mocked.]

Why do you think I made the bet I did? I'm always torn between disliking you and wanting to be close to you, because at times you're insufferable, but at other times you seem to show a side that's not anywhere near as bad. So I have no idea what to think of you.

Tch. I don't need to be close to anybody! Entertainment is one thing. Interesting people like you, Sibyll, and the other Bakura, I can fill my time with--but don't read so far into it!

[At least he seems to be coming out of the worst of his downer now, if the way he's fussily denying all her claims says anything.]

I said I might tell you the "truth" after my meal, didn't I? If I tell you that, will you shut up about it already?!

I don't believe that. If you didn't need to be close to anyone, why would you be missing whoever you left back home?

[...Wait, that part is just now registering. He what now?]

You think I'm "interesting?"

[She really just sounds dumbfounded more than anything. She thought he just got joy out of irritating her, or just wanted the dragon.

She manages to snap out of it at that last part, closing her book and fiddling with her hair a little. He just said "shut up," so...]

[Bakura narrows his eyes at the first question. Didn't he just tell her to not read into that?! It's her fault she was fun to irritate! It's not his fault she was fun to play "laser tag" with...]

Fine then--I'll keep it simple so you can understand! I don't want any questions!

[He looks back down at Diabound's card as he goes on.] When I was about six year sold, the Pharaoh [that word is filled with utter contempt] slaughtered my entire village! But they weren't just finished with killing them. They took their bodies and threw them into a vat of boiling gold, melting them down to make their Millennium Items.

But they're not theirs! They were made from the blood and bone of the people of Kul Elna--so who else should the belong to but me, the sole survivor?!

[He'll be the one to gain the power of darkness, through the sacrificial slaughter that happened at Kul Elna!]

[Even if he hadn't said that, the story alone floors Karasu so heavily that she wouldn't even be able to come up with questions. For a moment, she just sits there, trying to comprehend just what she's been told.

Six. Six years old, and he saw that sort of thing. That that sort of thing even happened at all is...

She opens her mouth to speak, then closes it without saying anything. No... he said it himself. He doesn't want sympathy, or pity, and that's all she can think of to offer. For something so horrible... he was right. No one could really understand that sort of pain.

But... it does explain about him. It explains that rage that he could dip into... and that hatred he carried.]

I see...

[It's the only words she can offer.]

[Bakura stuffs Diabound away in his pocket. It's good that she didn't blather out some useless words like "I'm sorry" or "that's terrible"--it would have only served to piss him off.]

I have dreams almost every night of flesh dripping off the bone, revealing the staggering skeleton and muscles beneath.

What I wouldn't give to make the Pharaoh see that--but not in his dreams, for real!

[So that's what had him so terrified, was it?

She feels her stomach twist painfully at that, turning to look at the wall so he can't fully see it on her face. That was probably her fault, wasn't it... having gone to Malik about that.

But this man... she had never guessed the scope of his past. She doesn't believe revenge will do anything for him, but there's no point in saying that... he can't get that here, anyway, and if Campus ever does reset them, she'll be three thousand years too far to do anything about it either way.]

Nightmares tend to be worse whenever you're alone. ...So, you can stay here, if you want. As long as you don't wreck my dorm.
