CAMPUS WIDE EVENT: THE LANGUAGE BARRIER REINSTATED
[Today, something somewhere went wrong. On the evening on the 15th, any bilingual (or otherwise) knowledge granted by the Campus has simply...disappeared. At least for anybody walking by the North Wing.]
Tja ... det här kommer att lägga sordin på våra studier, är nu inte det?
[Translation: Well...this is going to put a damper on our studies, now isn't it?]
((ooc: So! For the next 5 days (the 15th~20th), your character officially only knows their native tongue. Aka, whatever language they primarily grew up with. They can no longer read, speak, or understand any other language but.
For fun you can even use Google Translate to show what your character is speaking at a glance! Don't worry, we all know it's probably gibberish :P
If you go the Google route, please be sure to put a translation at the bottom. If not, then please take care to specify what language your character is speaking in at the start of every thread.
If you have any questions, just head to the mod plurk or send this account a PM, but most importantly--have fun!))

[He knows Shadow must be getting frustrated, so he turns back to give him a reassuring look. Of course, the actual act is more important than his expression...
Don't say he never looks back at you.]
I saw a hallway with a lot of rooms that were almost exactly the same in design. Some of them were open and had other people in them, and I saw anything from resting to eating.
If those are where the people here live, I'm sure at least one of them has something we can take for a bit.
no subject
Then that's our goal! Haha, come on, then! Where's these rooms?
no subject
[And there's the rows and rows of different doors just now. Violet goes over to one, testing the knob and pushing it open when he finds it unlocked.]
This is it -- I recognize whatever these objects are. It's just a matter of seeing if we can find where they store their clothing.
[-- oh right. Violet glances around, then flips the switch off before anything else. The blinds on the windows seem to be closed, so that should make it dark enough to give Shadow a bit of a break.]
no subject
Aaah~ That's much better!
[He stretches, looking around. It's easy for him to see in the dimness of the room. It was definitely a weird one. He's never seen tables and chairs in this style, and what was with the long chair? Going over to it, he pokes it curiously, and finding it soft, he flops down on it, swinging his legs up to rest his boots on the arm of it.]
This is the best! Talk about a comfortable chair!
no subject
[Not that he plans to try it, at least not right now. He's inspecting everything in this room, trying to get even a sign of what it could be used for. Especially this weird thing right here! What could it possibly--
Violet's poking of it accidentally hits the power button, causing the TV to blare to life, with the channel turned to an old monster movie. Unfortunately for the electronics, Violet's general reaction to a monster roaring at him is to stab it, and stab it quickly. The Four Sword goes right through the screen, the TV being knocked to the floor as Violet swings to try and cut the 'monster' attacking him.]
Shadow!
[He's quickly stepping back to avoid a counter-attack, yelling at the other teen to follow up and help him.]
no subject
[But what's with the bit at the side? Some way to stop people falling out? Then the other side should be against the wall, right?
The sudden blaring sound makes him jump, sitting bolt upright, but even as he does, Vio is attacking the source of it.
Except what is he attacking? He saw the sudden blare of light out of the corner of his eye, heard the noise, but it doesn't seem like there's anything there. Though he blanches and glowers at the name, he reacts fast, vaulting up to rush over, his sword in his hand. The light sparks upwards from the broken TV screen, the image flickering.]
...what is that thing?
[It didn't seem to be attacking...]
no subject
I don't have any idea. There was a monster in that thing just a moment ago.
[If the fact it's just sitting there is any indication. He gives it one more good prod, then seems satisfied it won't suddenly leap back up to bite his throat out.]
Seems I killed it, though...
no subject
This place seems to be full of traps.
no subject
So it seems.
[It seems like that trap really is destroyed now, though. So that means he can move onto the next bit of business, and he turns to look at Shadow for a moment, intently. His hand reaches out, going to rest lightly on Shadow's head in an gentle and affectionate gesture.]
You don't have to hate that name. Green told you, remember? You're our shadow and always will be, but you're also one of us and always will be that, too. We know that you're there now. We know that you're behind us. Whether we're in forms like this, or when we rejoin as Link, you'll never be forced to just follow and see our back.
After all... you protected us. So we'll always turn back to see you.
[As if to reinforce his point, Violet holds his sword out level in front of him, then looks at Shadow expectantly.]
no subject
[The surprise flashing across his face melts away to a pleased and friendly smile. Hah... He really did find a good ally, didn't he? Summoning his sword to his hand, he rests the blade against Vio's.]
Old habits die hard, but I'll try not to hate it. I know... ya'll ain't looking down on me like most people would.
So if it's you - any of you - I'll let ya'll use it and try not to take it badly. After all, even after all I did to ya'll, ya still accepted me. Ain't that a surprise?
Never thought I'd become one of ya'll.
no subject
[Still, his grin is teasing, and he puts the sword away after a moment.]
Besides... I think "Shadow" has a bit more of a ring to it than "Black." Not as simple.
no subject
Gotta admit, ya'll grew on me. And it'd probably never have happened if ya'll hadn't fooled me.
[It's a sore subject, but it's true...]
If I hadn't died back there and been sent back into the mirror... That princess wouldn't have gotten to have her little chat with me. She helped me realize a few things, y'see.
no subject
What did she say to you?
no subject
[He has to take a moment to decide to say anything at all, but... this is Vio. And it's not like he doesn't know his darkest feelings already.]
She said I was a hero like you. 'cause I'm a Link too. An' that I needn't be so afraid of light... 'cause not all light'll harm me.
no subject
no subject
Haha... Ya'll are gonna make me blush if you keep saying things like that.
no subject
[After another moment, Vio moves to lace his arm behind Shadow, patting the other's shoulder lightly.]
Now, if we could just figure out a way to stop actual light from harming you, we'd be set.
no subject
That ain't really possible... With the Dark Mirror, I could at least resist it, but without it, it's pretty hard to face it down.
no subject
[Speaking of which, they should get back to that.]
no subject
Huh... the floor in this room is really weird. Like it's made of something shiny.
[Crouching down, he runs his hand over the bathroom floor.]
It's cold, too.
no subject
Marble, maybe? Or something like that? It would be shiny, if there was light on it, but strange that it's cold when everything else isn't.
no subject
[Well, it doesn't really matter all that much, so he ventures further in. What's with this metal thing on top of the basin? Turning it reveals-]
Water-?!
[Not that things like that are impossible, but having access to water indoors... isn't that really expensive and rare? Outside a temple, it's pretty much unheard of. Even Zelda's castle didn't have something like that.]
no subject
Curiously, he looks over the running water, then up to the metal things. So is this what Shadow messed with...?
He reaches up, grabbing one and turning it. Rather than shutting off the flow, like he'd expected, it instead seems to almost double it... with an interesting addition that he notices after a moment, cautiously putting his hand under the stream.]
...This is warm, and getting warmer.
no subject
What's with this place?! It's cool and all, but can anything make sense?!
no subject
Okay. Just take a moment to sift through everything they've found.]
Lights everywhere, that are either some sort of controlled fire, enchantment, or a new fairy, but are controlled by a simple switch. The building is made of some sort of material that's nowhere near the stone I've seen -- floor, walls, and I would assume ceiling too. There's no draft or wind. There's a controlled waterfall in here that's not only incredibly tiny, but is somehow heated as well -- even moreso than the heat this entire place is holding somehow. There's a room for meals and enough rooms and beds that it suggests this is intended to live in. There are traps in what seems to be rooms for people to sleep in. And the fabric around is in some strange spot between commoner and noble.
[He tries to think. He tries the hardest he can to put this together, to understand, to get something about this place. But after what feels like far too long of quietness stretching into frustrated silence, he brings his hand against his face, rubbing it hard and giving a noise that sounds half-strangled.]
I have no idea.
