CAMPUS WIDE EVENT: THE LANGUAGE BARRIER REINSTATED

[Today, something somewhere went wrong. On the evening on the 15th, any bilingual (or otherwise) knowledge granted by the Campus has simply...disappeared. At least for anybody walking by the North Wing.]

[Translation: Well...this is going to put a damper on our studies, now isn't it?]

((ooc: So! For the next 5 days (the 15th~20th), your character officially only knows their native tongue. Aka, whatever language they primarily grew up with. They can no longer read, speak, or understand any other language but.

For fun you can even use Google Translate to show what your character is speaking at a glance! Don't worry, we all know it's probably gibberish :P

If you go the Google route, please be sure to put a translation at the bottom. If not, then please take care to specify what language your character is speaking in at the start of every thread.

[He's guessing that's telling him not to worry about it. He hopes so, because really, he doesn't know what else it could be.

Still, the cards definitely have him interested, and he points at one of them.]

[He offers them to him without hesitation. Tenar didn't take the Puzzle, so he's sure he won't damage the cards, either.]

[Indeed not. To be honest, they just were just paper to him, but he's not so rough he'd randomly damage people's stuff just by looking at it. On top of that, he saw how Yami was handling them, which makes him figure these things are really important, like the Puzzle, just a lot more fragile.

Almost out of habit, he wipes his hands on his pants before taking the cards, holding them gently.]

...I have no idea what this says. Do you?

[He points to the text.]

[Sadly, he shakes his head. It's unfortunate, but he can't offer any explanation. Lifting a hand to his mouth, he taps it and shakes his head, trying to show that he doesn't speak the language anymore.]

Oh... guess it's not the same.

[He gets the idea, at least, looking back to the cards. These pictures are so weird...]

What kind of game is this?

[He doesn't really expect an answer, just squinting at the text as if that will somehow magically make him understand it.]

[Has the kid never seen card games before at all? What an unfortunate, deprived world he's from.

Reaching out, he taps the attack points, and mimes throwing a punch at the air.]

[He's seen them, just never anything like this. His parents preferred board games, anyway.

He raises an eyebrow at the punch, but nods, getting the idea.]

Okay... so it's how strong it is? What's this?

[He taps the spot for defense points.]

[How to explain defense... Grinning a little, he mimes shielding his face.]

[He tilts his head, blinking a little, then seems to get the idea. Just to be sure, he crosses his arms in an X in front of him, hunching a little behind them as if preparing to take a hit.

...uh. [He gets the picture, he thinks, and nods. It's an odd way to defend. It doesn't really seem to protect... anything at all.]

[Clearly Yami has never had the need to shield his head and chest from a deadly ki wave. But regardless, Tenar gets the idea, nodding in understanding.

...Hm... he looks over the cards curiously, then to Yami. Glancing around, he suddenly walks off, grabbing a chair and dragging it over to where the Pharaoh is before putting the cards he was handed on it.

He points at the attack on the first one, the defense on the other, then looks up curiously.]

[Oh? Looks like he figured it out. Comparing the two, he takes a slow, deep breath before reaching out.

The one with the stronger attack is the attacker, so he taps the attack, then the defense of the other, and then takes the other one away before flashing him a victory sign.

That should be clear enough!]

[Seeing as the numbers are something he can understand clearly, Yami gets the idea across just fine and Tenar nods, grinning and flashing the sign as well.

So they fought with Attack verses Defense...]

Seems easy enough.

[Reaching out, he takes two of the other cards. One spell, one magic. For the spell... He points at the card, then at Tenar, before mimicking what he did with the ki ball earlier.]

[He looks at the cards confusedly, then reaches over to take the card Yami is pointing at and put it behind his back.]

[The Pharaoh shakes his head. He was trying to point out that spells were like the thing the guy did. But it's a lot harder to explain without words. If only he had some paper or something... He holds out his hand for the card.]

[Tenar gives it back, shrugging helplessly to show he hasn't even the remotest idea what Yami's trying to get across.]

Man, this is annoying... I wonder when it's gonna go away.

[Placing the trap card facedown, he moves his hand so that his fingers 'walk' over to it, and onto it - and then flips the card over and mimes 'boom'!]

[He gets it, now! Kinda.]

So this is... some kind of trap thing?

[And apparently gets rid of a monster, if the "boom" gesture is any indication.]

[Thumbs up! Sounds like the kid understands now. He taps the edge of the card where it's pink, and points out some of the other trap cards for comparison.]

Alright... so these trap card things are all pink?

[He picks up a couple more from the cards, putting them with the first one and giving Yami a questioning look.]

[He gives him a serious nod. That was right. Trap cards were always pink. The fact that the boy picked up on that already is good.]

I don't know how to explain spell cards without words...

[He glances at Yami once the ancient Egyptian gibberish starts again, then just back at the cards.

Almost curiously, he begins to separate them based on their color, putting the traps in one pile and the spells in another. He hesitates a little when he gets to the monster cards, noting their different colors, but eventually puts them together in one pile.

It's only once he gets to the Black Magician that he fully stops, tilting his head at the card curiously.

...he kinda likes this one. The magician looks really cool and strong.]

-! [The fact that the boy picked that one out so fast... that's interesting.]

'Black Magician'.

[Even if he didn't have all of his cards memorized by now, that one would be called to his memory in a flash. It was too precious a card to him not to.]

Black... Magician?

[It sounds so weird to his ears, but maybe once this gets fixed, he can ask what it's called for real.

He can tell it's a really important one from the look on Yami's face, though, so he puts it aside until he's done sorting the rest of the cards, then gently places it on top of the monster stack.]

You got these monster things... the blue cards... and the trap card things... is that all?
