CAMPUS WIDE EVENT: THE LANGUAGE BARRIER REINSTATED

[Today, something somewhere went wrong. On the evening on the 15th, any bilingual (or otherwise) knowledge granted by the Campus has simply...disappeared. At least for anybody walking by the North Wing.]

[Translation: Well...this is going to put a damper on our studies, now isn't it?]

((ooc: So! For the next 5 days (the 15th~20th), your character officially only knows their native tongue. Aka, whatever language they primarily grew up with. They can no longer read, speak, or understand any other language but.

For fun you can even use Google Translate to show what your character is speaking at a glance! Don't worry, we all know it's probably gibberish :P

If you go the Google route, please be sure to put a translation at the bottom. If not, then please take care to specify what language your character is speaking in at the start of every thread.

Still pretty slow! But I guess that's not bad!

[Even despite the snark, it is a genuine compliment. Admittedly, even Surito couldn't really juggle.

He holds out his hand, as if offering to catch it if Bakura throws it.]

Heh. [In one fluid movement, he catches and throws the ball towards Tenar.]

[Without breaking stride, Tenar catches the ball and begins juggling it himself, bouncing it off his feet and head like before.

Heheh... this is kinda fun. Maybe they've got a game!]

[And he'll just be kicking the ball up high, then catching it to juggle a little more traditionally, though at a speed that's probably at least a little surprising.]

[That speed-! It's impressive... and inhuman. Then this kid isn't just a sorceror, he's something else. Something special. But what?

Regardless, the actions get lazy applause from him.]

[He sticks his tongue out, then tosses the ball up again. Holding his hand up, palm flat, he waits until the ball hits it, then snaps up his fingers to send it flying at Bakura.

Thankfully, slow enough for him to grab it, as Tenar doesn't want to smack him right in the nose.]

[Though slow by Tenar's standards, Bakura's hand snaps out by reflex to grab the ball. The movement translates almost instinctively back into juggling, and this time, he tries incorporating a few tricks into it. It's higher and more showy than before, that's for sure.]

[He claps a little at the tricks, grinning widely and leaning forward some again.]

You're pretty good!

[He can tell that he's being praised, and his lips twitch up into a pleased smirk. Catching the ball, he tosses it underhand back to Tenar.]

[He catches it easily, once more going into his own juggling and clearly having fun with this little game.]

Ba-ku-raaaa...

[He's mostly just sounding out the name now that he's half-focused. It's a weird kind of name (at least to him), and trying to sound out the syllables of it seems to be amusing him somehow.

Is this kid really 13?]

[The kid acts much younger. Despite his confirmation of his age, Bakura can't help but wonder if he messed up on asking. Tenar surely can't be that old. Most out of amusement than anything else, he tosses the act back, drawing out Tenar's name.]

[His name doesn't have an e, you silly silly person.]

[Hm... maybe it's because of his weird language thing. Tenar shrugs a little, then tosses the ball back lightly.]

[How do you think he feels, kid? You're speaking his name with ENGLISH INFLECTIONS. Catching the ball, he vaults to his feet this time to resume juggling it.]

[English is all that he's ever known, considering all of his world seems to speak it.

Or at the least, the people he met when he wasn't living like a recluse in the forest.

He leans back on his arms, watching Bakura juggle with a slight tilt of his head. This is kind of fun, seeing just how much he can do and trying to control how much HE does so he doesn't break the ball or something.]

I should get another one of these things...

[Even so, the inflections of it were totally off compared to the language he now knew. If he hadn't known it wasn't his language, he'd have been less bothered by it, but the fact that his mental perception of how to speak has been totally thrown off... He fumbles the ball in his irritation at the situation, but catches it with his foot and knocks it back up to catch it again.

Don't touch the floor. That's a rule he just came up with.]

[Tenar gets the idea, then holds up his hand.]

Wait here!

[And just as quick as before, he's back with another ball. This one he starts juggling around himself, staying standing to better match Bakura even as he tries to show off more than Bakura's doing.]

Alright. Let's each keep one, so when one person throws, the other does too.

[He tosses his ball up, then points at it and Bakura's. Get it?]

[Huh... He gets it. Nodding, he gets to work. It's impossible to outdo Tenar; his speed as a human was limited too far. Despite that, his pride won't let him back down. He keeps trying to do it anyway, which only makes him more likely to fumble.]

[Perhaps thankfully, Tenar isn't putting any of his real speed into this, mostly just using enough that it's impressive to show off a little. He knows Bakura can't match it, but he's having fun just seeing how much the other man can do.

After all, he's trained hard for speed. Doing this is easy and boring. Seeing someone who hasn't manage to pull off stuff is what's impressive.]

[Catching it with one hand, he throws the other one over. It's a lot harder to do it while catching and the throw is a little sloppier, to his irritation, but he moves right into it.]

[He manages to catch the ball anyway, dropping it to bounce on his foot, then back up to juggle around again.]

You're pretty fun to play with!

[He could never get Chihaya or Kohlrain to do something like this. Maybe Surito, but she'd probably get bored easily...]

[He can guess what the guy's saying from the tone, and grins. Bakura has a lot of patience, and games, even physical ones, are always fun. Though he's more for the type of game where he has control over other people, he's still a player at heart. Competitive games are his thing and he's far more physical than Ryou is.]

Wrong hand. He ends up dropping it and has to fumble to grab it again. Damn... his fingers on that hand aren't working properly. He can't bend them all the way again. How annoying. He'll focus on the other hand more, then.]

[Tenar frowns as the ball's dropped, catching his to stop the game for a moment and give Bakura a confused -- and somewhat concerned -- look.]

... [He hesitates, then frowns, showing him his left hand. His fingers aren't bending all the way - or as quickly as they should be. The reason why is obvious just to look at them; the charred white of the skin where the burns had penetrated down to the nerves.]
