CAMPUS WIDE EVENT: SPRING FEVER
[Today, the lovely denizens of the Campus will wake up to a beautiful spring morning. Birds are chirping, flowers are blooming, and pollen is in there. But this isn't just any pollen, the kind that afflicts the allergy prone to months of watery eyes and sneezing, oh no, this pollen is far more potent.
This morning, you will wake up with exactly one menial illness. It won't kill you, it won't even really hurt you, but it will be a constant annoyance to you for the next week. Sicknesses range from sneezes and rashes to spontaneous floral growth out of the forehead region. Really, anything goes.]
((ooc: okay, so, feel free to give your characters whatever silly or petty illness you want! This event ends on the 25th. Our cooperative event has been postponed due to a lack of feedback/interest--since it's an event that requires at least a small group of people to be active in.))

[He doesn't expect the kid to understand him, but the sigh and X holding his hands up helplessly should give an indication of his meaning anyway.]
no subject
Hm... [Reaching out, he pats him on the shoulder comfortingly.] Are you a robot, I wonder...?
no subject
Да.
no subject
Can you understand me? Is it just your ability to speak that's set to a different language?
no subject
Да. Я могу.
no subject
There's a library nearby... if you can give me a hint what language you're speaking, I might be able to find a dictionary?
no subject
Я думаю, что это России?
[It's his best guess, anyway. His translator is so uncooperative he can't even tell what language setting it's on, but it sounds like the rough language he remembers.]
no subject
[His confusion clears a little at that. It's similar enough to one of the ways of saying it in Japanese that he gets it pretty fast.]
I'll be right back.
[And with a russian-japanese dictionary to hand!]
no subject
Can you understand me now?
no subject
[He's the one being the most inconvenienced, though he doesn't seem to think so...]
Is it a malfunction? ...or is there a way to fix your language setting at all?
no subject
[He laughs a little in a friendly way, smiling again.]
No, a malfunction would come up as a warning. This is... a virus, I think, which is strange. I'm built against those.
But if I had to get infected with one, something that's only annoying verses something that's dangerous is what I would prefer, so I can't complain that much.
no subject
But this place doesn't seem to be limited by normal limits, so it's not all that surprising for you to get infected by one here.
[He starts, realizing his rudeness.]
Ah, sorry! I'm Ryou Bakura. It's nice to meet you.
no subject
[He has no fucking clue, man. Though that name...]
Japanese, right? I'm X. It's nice to meet you.
no subject
[Though his surname isn't.]
If it's inflicted by this place, it might disappear on its' own before too long has gone by.
no subject
[Curiosity shines through his voice. Even if it doesn't matter, he does want to know.
...wait, what?]
"Disappear on its own"?
no subject
[It's a really rare surname. He smiles a little at the confusion.]
Inflictions here come and go. It'll probably die on its' own.
no subject
[Krrsttt, whoops. The language swaps again, but at least this time Ryou won't need the book; it's Japanese.]
-- like it's from there. From what I remember, anyway.
no subject
no subject
[That's what it sounds like, at least.]
Well, at least the dictionary isn't necessary anymore.
no subject
no subject
[...He's a bit curious.]
How old are you?
no subject
I'm seventeen.
no subject
Young.]
I see... how long have you been here?
no subject
[He sounds a little uncertain. It might be as many as ten months. But he doesn't think it's that long.]
no subject
Nine months?
[He knows this place freezes time, so it's not like he's going to be stuck here while another war rages on at home. But that doesn't make the news feel much better.
Sure, this is a school, and it's very low that it's going to be as blood-drenched as his home is. But it's a small place, very closed off. He doesn't even know if being here will be a respite from the wars; this Voice sure wasn't someone who seemed to value peace for everyone.
It would be nice if it could be that way. But even if it was...
The Hunters, who were backing him up always. The friends he made while off-duty, human and Reploid both. And especially... Zero.
Nine months isn't long in his life of a hundred years, but the idea of not seeing them for that long -- or longer -- is still not one that he's pleased with.]
I see...
