PERMANENT EVENT: A WHOLE NEW FRONTIER
[Surely it was too early for another announcement, right...? But then there it is, that tell-tale electronic feedback screeching through the halls before a mature female voice resonates through it.]
The doors are unlocked.
[That's all she says. Those who are curious might test the front doors...and they'll find that they open not to the seemingly civilized outskirts of town as the now vanished view from the roof may have made you think, but to the horizon. Likewise that barrier and its lies blocking anybody's escape via the roof or sky has collapsed, leaving the air a tad bit...more temperamental. You see, there was weather now.
Out from the front doors of the Campus can be see an expanse of land and then the sea. Anybody who ventures out further will find that they're still trapped, only in a bigger cage. This new cage is now five miles across the diameter at its longest point. The island itself is about as varied as it comes: covered jungles, a cave system, a single stream leading up to a freshwater lake, and a lone mountain near the center. One part near the front of the school is home to a sometimes-pleasant sandy shore ripe for the hunting sea life. Everywhere else is a perilous cliff fall into the sea.
Anybody who tries to escape via the sea will find the riptide tearing them back to a cave near the shore.]
((This event is a permanent setting expansion, you can read more about it here as well as in the island setting page near the bottom here. Have fun, if you have any questions simply address them to the OOC post, plurk, or AIM if applicable, and please don't forget to tag your series!))

As soon as he gets out of here and home, he plans to send some helicopters back to rescue the rest of these fools, but for now all that concerns him is getting back to his younger brother and KaibaCorp.]

Still, when the intercom announces their freedom, the techrat is curious. There aren't that many options available to him here so he may as well entertain himself with what they've been given. Even if he hates it.
When Matt steps outside, he's quick to shield his eyes with a hiss. They're used to staring at screens - screens at nightfall. This whole... doing things during the day spiel, while not entirely new, takes some adjusting. And speaking of adjusting, his eyes come into focus on one hell of a jet. Don't get him wrong, he likes the design (it's something he wouldn't mind using as an avatar) but is it really all that practical?]
That can't be aerodynamic.
no subject
When he got out of here, he'd be sure to send a carrier back to retrieve his jet.]
Considering it flew me here, I'd have to argue otherwise.
no subject
There's no doubting that it worked, just that it isn't efficient. With the way its legs carry, it'd be resisting the wind; you would be wasting fuel.
no subject
This, coming from the self-proclaimed "cyber god"? You're nothing more than a cyber fool. Its legs are merely landing gear.
[In other words, they pull back against the body when flying. So it's not exactly like traditional drop-down landing gear, since he does have wheels to assist the landing, but it's close.]
no subject
Oh no, something outside my line of expertise suddenly makes me incompetent!
[Matt rolls his eyes and drops the act. It's clear the other teen is just baiting him and while he wants nothing more than to bite, he isn't on familiar territory. Clenching his jacket just before he uncrosses his arms, he takes a few steps towards the aircraft to give it a proper once-over.]
When I first saw this, I intended to compliment its aesthetics. Now I just have to wonder how resistant the navigation system is to an EMP.
no subject
A compliment from someone as worthless as yourself would be nothing more than an insult.
[He narrows his eyes.] Now get out of my sight, Cyber Fool.
no subject
[He gives the other a two-fingered salute.]
My mistake, mate.
no subject
This reminds me. How are you broken computers doing? Has your tenacity towards repairing that garbage been as fruitless an endeavor as I anticipated?
no subject
[Matt opens his palms and extends them to his sides for a shrug.]
I mean, 'garbage' - between using it to describe a cyber god and then again for computer components, I just have this feeling that you don't care to know.
no subject
[It doesn't really bother him either way.] And unlike you, I don't need to worry about repairing anything. I already have a working computer.
[He just wants to rub it in your face.]
no subject
... Which means he'll have to play nice with the guy. Maybe he shouldn't have insulted his little trading card game when they first met.]
You know, here we are trading quips when I don't recall either of us introducing ourselves.
no subject
Hm! And I don't recall caring who you are, Cyber Fool.
[He raises a hand, clenching it into a fist.] I, on the other hand, am Seto Kaiba. Head of KaibaCorp. It's pretty pathetic you don't even know that.

Matt: digging through the core of the earth right now
He's getting pretty good at that 'digging his own grave' thing.
he's dug a shortcut to China at this point

Kaiba... Are you going to try to get out of here?
no subject
[When Bakura speaks, he glances back, but continues what he's doing. The duel-disk was still on his arm, for lack of anywhere else to put it.]
I'm not going to try. I'm going to succeed.
no subject
[Don't get cocky, Kaiba. He had a bit of a bad feeling about this place. Like there was something here that wasn't trustworthy. But maybe that was all in his head.]
Mind if I tag along?
[...though he probably would even if Kaiba said he did.]
no subject
Yes.
no subject
But it won't be a problem if I do anyway, right? If I fall behind you'll just ignore me and keep going, so it's not like I'd slow you down.
[Please, as if Kaiba's words would be enough to stop him. Sorry, Kaiba, he's tagging along anyway.]
no subject
I don't care. Do as you will, just make sure you stay out of my way.
no subject
[That makes this much easier. Just a second, Kaiba. He came prepared.
And that would be Ryou setting a ridiculously oversized backpack on his shoulders. Well, nobody else had been using it, so he'd borrowed it and left a polite note telling the owner he'd return it later.]
no subject
[When he sees the other teen hurry back over with that massive backpack, even Kaiba has to say something about it.] Haven't you ever heard of traveling light?
[Then again, Kaiba hadn't exactly prepared himself that much food at all.]
no subject
Besides, we don't know if any of the animals here are edible.
[He sounds completely serious. Food is serious business, after all. He's not really concerned about any dangers or getting too cold. But running out of food would be a disaster.]
no subject
[Kaiba grabs a small backpack of his own, throwing it over his shoulders. He was still carrying his briefcase in his other hand as he headed for the school exit.]
And don't expect me to help you if you collapse.
no subject
...and I don't expect anyone to help me.
[It's true enough. He's lived pretty much on his own for so long that he's got at least somewhat used to looking out for himself. He could never be considered tough, but he's more used to hiding his problems beneath a smile than most people would guess.
He followed Kaiba without complaint, bracing himself for a long walk. He was pretty sure that Kaiba wouldn't slow down for him if he had trouble, after all.]
no subject
He strides on through afterward, not even bothering to hold the door for Bakura. Once outside, Kaiba stops to take a look at the scenery--or rather, figure out which direction to go in. There was a beach to their left, and the start of a jungle at their right.]
