CAMPUS WIDE EVENT: EVERYTHING AND THE KITCHEN SINK
[Hopefully everybody likes waking up outside.
Because as it were, in the middle of the night when everybody had been asleep or lulled into a sudden one by the sheer weight of the air around them...the Campus disappeared in its entirety. Left behind was only the cool surface of the concrete foundation.
For now it seems the residents were left to fend for themselves in the wilderness of the island. Not even the voice from over the intercom would comfort them.]
((ooc: the school has disappeared, along with all the NPCs and everything that was inside! no opt-out areas this time around. The temperature is cool during the day, and colder at night.
The event will last until October 20th, and I'll post a closer to signify it. Everything will be returned to its rightful place then.))

"That cave by where we practiced, maybe? If no one else is there. Or even if they are, sharing's good."
As long as they weren't sharing with lunatics.

[She snuggles into his side some, wrapping her arms around herself. This is definitely better, yes.]
I don't want to fly there this time, though. Even if it wasn't for the fact that I'd be easy to spot like this, a dragon appearing after the school disappears would probably cause people to freak out.
no subject
He tightens his arm around her while she speaks, then holds his free hand out in front of them, smiling a bit.
"Well, I promised I'd take you around with these, but this wasn't what I was thinking of. Just don't let go while we're passing through, okay? It should only take a few seconds, though."
Kai opens a portal and mentally frowns at it. He can't find any of the creepies while he's looking for them, they'd damn well better not run into any when he's not.
"Speaking of people freaking out, remind me to do something weird for Halloween."
no subject
Uh... no offense, Kai, but I think I'd actually rather walk it. I really feel like I shouldn't go in there for some reason... with you or not. Maybe it's a darkness thing?
no subject
"Naw, it's okay if we don't. My pendant would protect you, but if you really don't want to..."
Yeah, he didn't blame her. Right this second it even felt a little weird to him. A flick of his fingers and it closes, taking it's extra chill with it. Maybe...
He really likes her arms around him, watch him be shooting himself in the foot here.
"You know, that shield spell's not the only thing I've been practicing."
no subject
[She likes this too, mostly because it means she's not freezing to death. Brrr...]
Oh yeah? What else have you been practicing?
no subject
They should start walking. Yep. He'll just do that, keeping his arm around her. Stupid weird disappearing building.
Okay, it's kind of a good thing.
"I've been trying to get a better grasp on things. The Darkness part of myself, I mean. I've actually been looking for one of the-"
Heartless, just say it, idiot.
"-Those Shadows. Because I thought that maybe..."
Kai trails off and shakes his head, forcing a smile instead.
"Never mind, just dumb ideas."
no subject
[She smiles back, reassuringly, shifting to lean against him as much as she can without making it hard to walk.]
no subject
"Yeah, I know. But I think I'm afraid of becoming my mom in more than one way." Which begs the question of why he's even being stupid in the first place. "When she was my age - younger, actually - she could control the Heartless. Nothing stronger than Shadows, though. And I've only been able to do the Corridors for the last couple years, and I got to wondering if I could do her trick with the Shadows."
no subject
[That word, for some reason, sends a chill down her spine that's unrelated to the cold around. Karasu glances up to him, frowning with a worried look on her face. That...]
If those things come from that portal... I don't think you should be trying that. I get the feeling that... they're really dangerous.
no subject
What was he just saying about being afraid of becoming his mother? Kai snorts at himself.
"It doesn't matter, because I haven't found one yet. Probably the pendant. I could always take it off and just go in the Corridors with the Keyblade out, but I've already been swarmed once."
He only wants one of the things, not a couple dozen.
no subject
[Oh, the bitter irony of that statement is almost tasteable.]
Please don't, Kai-kun. I know I probably don't have a right to say this, but I'm saying it anyway. Please don't. I have a really, really bad feeling something awful will happen if you try to mess around with those things.
no subject
"It's good you're saying it. I need to hear it from somebody other than myself. Apparently looking at the scar in the mirror every morning doesn't help much either." Too easy to ignore, he guesses.
He's still got an arm around her, which surprises him a little, if only because he tends to pull away from people when he gets like this.
"...I don't know if I can promise not to, but would you mind kicking sense into me if I ever do get my hands on one?"
no subject
[She flashes him a grin, though her teeth are chattering some.]
no subject
"I can keep this burning while we're walking, it ought to help some."
He's going to have to find wood for an actual fire once they get settled. Be a lot easier to not have to mind the magic in the back of his head.
no subject
[She moves one of her arms to hold her hand over the fire, blowing a little to try to help warm up the cold skin.]
We'll have to find a cave where we can set a fire outside without worrying too much... but I'm definitely not sleeping outside in the forest. It feels too open.
no subject
"I can build a pretty decent one that won't burn down the forest, and even if we have to sleep outside, I'll protect you."
Seriously. He'd kick the ass of anything that went near her. Kai lets out an embarrassed laugh suddenly.
"But you're right, so a cave would be best."
no subject
[The offer touches her, even if it doesn't really show. That he'd do that for her... maybe Kai was another "real friend" here. He must be...]
I don't know if I can protect anyone. I'm afraid I'd hurt the one I was trying to protect if I tried.
no subject
Kai gives her a quick hug. "You shouldn't let that stop you. If you're afraid of it..." He trails off, biting his lip. "Even if they did get hurt, you might be saving them from something worse."
no subject
[She turns her head into the hug a little, sighing somewhat.]
Maybe... I don't know for sure.
no subject
Ugh, fighting the blush and winning, yay. Kai sighs, keeping his arm around her loosely.
"Try not to worry about it right now. I mean, everything's okay, just ignore the building going on vacation. No one's trying to hurt anybody right now, so."
no subject
[It's not that the idea itself is strange, more that he's just so out with it. She blinks a little, giving him a confused look.]
Yeah... but I doubt it'll stay that way. Especially with how cold it is and the lack of... anything.
no subject
"You're my friend, and-"
He wants to say it, he really does, but having her as a friend is good and he doesn't want to screw that up and he's not even sure if he has the guts.
For Light's sake, he can fight Heartless and wield Darkness and he can't even tell a girl he likes her.
He'll just swing around to the other half of the conversation. Chickening out? Yep.
"Hopefully this won't last long. I mean, the other weird stuff that's happened...things are usually back to normal in a few days. Maybe the weirdos will behave." Not likely. "It'll be okay, no matter what."
no subject
[She frowns a little, clearly curious, tilting her head some even as she moves the fire a little. But then he changes the conversation...
Well. Oh well.]
I hope so, too. But I think it'd be okay even if it didn't, maybe... for me, at least.
no subject
Maybe if he just blurts it out? Why does he feel like he's in grade school augh.
"What, you want to just live out here?" He's going to make a little face at that. He's gotten used to having running water and things again pretty quick. But maybe that's not what she means.
