CAMPUS WIDE EVENT: THE LANGUAGE BARRIER REINSTATED

[Today, something somewhere went wrong. On the evening on the 15th, any bilingual (or otherwise) knowledge granted by the Campus has simply...disappeared. At least for anybody walking by the North Wing.]

[Translation: Well...this is going to put a damper on our studies, now isn't it?]

((ooc: So! For the next 5 days (the 15th~20th), your character officially only knows their native tongue. Aka, whatever language they primarily grew up with. They can no longer read, speak, or understand any other language but.

For fun you can even use Google Translate to show what your character is speaking at a glance! Don't worry, we all know it's probably gibberish :P

If you go the Google route, please be sure to put a translation at the bottom. If not, then please take care to specify what language your character is speaking in at the start of every thread.

[Lifting a hand, he grasps the Puzzle in it for a moment before moving to sit beside him so he can look at it easier.]

My 'Puzzle'. It's safe. Go ahead and touch it if you want.

[The chain around his neck should be strong enough if the kid tries to snatch it.]

[He glances up as Yami sits down, then between the puzzle and him.

Uh... he's just going to assume that was permission and reach out to grab the Puzzle with his free hand. Of course, being Tenar, it's more a "little kid sees something he wants to look at up close" grab than anything, since he's clearly got no desire to actually take it.]

Whoa... this feels weird.

[What did he say it was again? He flashes Yami a curious look, hoping he'll repeat it. One word he could probably understand... or at least repeat.]

[Well, since the kid seems to be just looking, he relaxes and just lets him do it. The Puzzle is heavy as hell, but being hollow inside definitely helps with the weight.

Noticing the curious look, he repeats the word, drawing out the syllables so he can figure it out.]

Puzzle.

[Heavy as hell for a necklace, he guesses, though really he could probably wear it without a problem. He tosses it up a little to catch it, testing just how heavy it is. It feels so weird, though... like there's something not right with it.]

...Pu...?

[What the fuck did he say? Tenar trips over the word for a good minute or two, frowning. Okay... it's just syllables. No big deal, right?]

...Puz...zle?

[Yes! He got it! The Pharaoh gives him a thumbs up, nodding and smiling at him.]

That's it!

[The tossing gets him a wary look and without thinking, he brings a hand up to grasp the chain, so it can't 'accidentally' get thrown off of him.]

[Tenar grins at the praise, nodding happily. He blinks confusedly a little as Yami goes to grip the chain, then realizes what he was doing and shakes his head.

He points to the Puzzle, then Yami, to show that he has no intention of taking it.]

This is yours. I'm not gonna run off with it.

[Of course, seeing as he hasn't let go of the Puzzle itself to do that, it means that his little ki ball is dropped to the ground...

...and part of that floor just got majorly scuffed when it blew up, small as it was.

...Erm. Whoopsies.]

[HOLY WHAT THE HELL-?!

He stares with wide-eyes at the tiny crater. What the hell was in that ball, nitroglycerin?!

Well, at least the no-theft message got passed on, so he lets go of the chain. Still just staring, however.]

Ahh, geeze... I shouldn't be doing that still...

[Tenar reluctantly releases the puzzle, brushing off the crater and picking the pieces out of it that would probably hurt to get stepped on. He made the mess, might as well clean it up as much as he can.

Of course, with his high pain tolerance, he doesn't notice when one of the shards cuts his finger, just getting up the rest of them and standing, looking around for a trash can or something.]

[Noticing it, he reaches out to snag Tenar's wrist.]

Hold on a minute...

[Don't just ignore cuts! That could get infected, you little idiot.]

[Tenar blinks as he's grabbed, giving Yami a confused look.]

What? If it's about the floor, I didn't mean to.

[He shakes his head, not understanding the words, and points to Tenar's hand.]

[He blinks a little, then looks at his hand for a moment. The blood's not too hard to notice now that he's looking, and he shifts the shards in his hands haphazardly, probably cutting himself even worse just from that.]

Oh, it's no big deal. It's just some cuts.

[He shrugs a bit nonchalantly.]

[That sounded dismissive. Sighing, he gets up, still holding onto Tenar's wrist and tries to tug him in the direction of the nurse.]

Hey!

[Tenar temporarily tenses, as if intending to intending to set his feet, but then decides not to and just goes along with him. This guy... he seemed concerned, and even if Tenar knew it wasn't a big deal, he can't tell HIM that like this.

And he won't be mean when Yami's trying to be nice.]

I'll follow you! Quit pulling, I'm gonna drop this stuff all over the floor.

[When Tenar doesn't resist, he loosens his grip and slows down, so he can keep up. He is just a kid after all.]

Thank you. It's important to take care of things like this. They could get infected.

[To the nurse with you!]

You sound like you're trying to talk through a bunch of foam in your mouth or something.

[The tone to his voice is pouty, a childish irritation. He's not sure why Yami's slowing down, but he'll take it, just shifting the stuff in his hands a little more so that they don't get scattered everywhere.]

It's really no big deal, though. I've gotten cut a lot worse before!

[He doesn't have a clue what the kid is saying, but it sounds like he's whining. That's too bad, because he leads him to the nurse regardless. It's no good acting like a whiny child, because it only makes him more determined to be the adult here.

There's at least a rubbish bin there! And more importantly, Lisa. Pointing from the broken shards to the bin, he beckons Lisa over and points out the cuts for her to deal with.]

[Well, that'll work. Tenar pulls his wrist away from Yami when they get there, dropping all the pieces into the trashcan and trying to wipe his hands off on his pants. Lisa stops him before he does, of course, and though Yami can't understand the conversation, it's clear he's whining at her, too.

But he relents without any real trouble, sitting on the bed and letting her clean up and bandage his hands.]

Geeze, it's just a couple of cuts... where were you guys when I had something all the way through my leg?

[...yeah, if he'd heard about that, he'd be linefacing hard. As it is, he just sits on a chair with his legs crossed neatly over one another, relaxed and watching.]

It's no good complaining. Some things you need to put up with.

[Even if he can't understand the words, he can at least recognize that he's being chided from the tone Yami's using. So his reply is, of course, the most mature thing ever.

He sticks his tongue out.]

[Sigh. He's only two or three years younger than Yugi from the looks of him and yet he acts so much more childish... Oh well. He'll just mess around with his cards while he waits for Tenar to be done.

...come to think of it, who is this kid, anyway? Curse this language barrier...]

[At least the cuts aren't too bad, so Tenar's being released to go back over to Yami before too long.

The immaturity dissolves into curiosity when he sees the cards, and he moves to the side to try to look at them over Yami's shoulder.]

I think Kai's got some of those around the dorm!

[He picked out the name easily, nodding with a friendly smile. Curiously, he points from Tenar to the cards. Do you duel, little boy?]

Yeah, Kai! He's my roommate!

[Cripes, how can he get this across... he points to one of the beds, points to himself, then points to the other bed and repeats Kai's name.

The friendly smile is matched with one of his own, but his inspection of them is stopped at the pointing. Um...

Shrug?]

Sorry, I don't know what they are.

[He nods, getting the picture. So this was Kai's dorm-mate... He really needs to get one of those at some point. The FAQ had specified that it was best not to keep to oneself. Who knew why?]

It's fine. I'll explain when we can understand one another.
