CAMPUS WIDE EVENT: THE LANGUAGE BARRIER REINSTATED

[Today, something somewhere went wrong. On the evening on the 15th, any bilingual (or otherwise) knowledge granted by the Campus has simply...disappeared. At least for anybody walking by the North Wing.]

[Translation: Well...this is going to put a damper on our studies, now isn't it?]

((ooc: So! For the next 5 days (the 15th~20th), your character officially only knows their native tongue. Aka, whatever language they primarily grew up with. They can no longer read, speak, or understand any other language but.

For fun you can even use Google Translate to show what your character is speaking at a glance! Don't worry, we all know it's probably gibberish :P

If you go the Google route, please be sure to put a translation at the bottom. If not, then please take care to specify what language your character is speaking in at the start of every thread.

... [His lips curve into a mischievous grin. She couldn't read her cards either now.

Bakura turns and gestures for her to follow.]

[She shrugs a little, then falls into step behind him to do just that.

Well, it's not like it can HURT or anything.]

[The walk back is silent--for once. It seems Bakura doesn't have much to say when nobody's around to understand him.

He doesn't lead her to the dorm, but to the lounge and one of the tables there. Digging around he sets down his deck to be shuffled.]

H-heh heh heh... [Well that was one thing that crossed even the language barrier.]

[Definitely, and she has to roll her arms a little before she sits down too. That laugh seriously gave her the chills sometimes... and it seemed even more malicious now, when they couldn't understand each other.]

Hai, sonogo kaado ga shaffuru sa re masu.
(Okay, I'll shuffle the cards.)

[She places her deck on the table, then takes his deck to shuffle it up before handing it back.]

[Bakura shuffles her cards as well, looking utterly confident as he does. Little did she knew he had his Akh help him rebuild his deck, and now that he's gotten all his cards memorized as well as her strategy...

He's developed a counter-measure! Or well, his Akh did, but that's technically him too. Regardless, Bakura has a better understanding of the game now than he had before.

He knows how to properly use Diabound's special abilities now too.]

[And unfortunately, Karasu is not prepared for the abilities Diabound can bring to the table, nor for the Dark World combos or the Blast Spheres.

Her easing up immediately shatters once Bakura takes the upper hand with clearly far more ability than before, and she fights as hard as she can, tooth and nail, to try to get some semblance of field control back for her Samurai.]

[It's all over for Karasu when Bakura plays his most deadly combo yet. Using Dark World Dealings he draws a card and discards another--specifically Grapha, Dragon Lord of Dark World. Once the monster's in his graveyard all he has to do is tribute a Fiend-type to special summon it, and he's got 2700 attack points on the field side-by-side with Diabound and his attack-point depleting doppelgangers.

Not to mention he's laughing maniacally. It's all over now! He'll just sit and enjoy her squirming a little bit first!]

[Interesting... this deck has worked together fantastically. Not only that, but the Thief King seems to really be in tune with it.

With Shien and the Grandmaster drained, and just Zanji, Irou, and Kamon on the field with them, there's nothing she can do. Even her face-down cards can't pull her out of this.

How clever...]

[Unfortunately, the Thief King is going to be sorely disappointed. Instead of squirming or seeming upset or anything to that degree, Karasu simply claps her hands together, smiling brightly.]

Anata ha hontouni sore wo yatta!
(You really did it!)

[That said, she places her hand over her deck, in the motion she showed him that represents a surrender. There's nothing she can do. No way to protect her Samurai here. So of course, it just means one thing.]

Watashi ha ushinai masu.
(I lose.)

[She's...surrendering?! All those times he lost like a man, and she's surrendering! He wanted to see this through to the end!

Bakura's eye twitches, clearly irritated as he looks across the table at her.

...Well clearly, he just overwhelmed her to the point of exhaustion. Though if that's not the case, he's not sure what she's smiling about.

Whatever, he'll take it in stride. Cooling down--at least on the surface--he grins and grabs the notepad again. He spends quite a bit more time on whatever he's scribbling this time, and he keeps glancing upwards and eyeing her before finally showing her the notepad.]

[She notices the irritation, but just matches it with a smile anyway. She can guess he's a little angry, but with the language barrier, she can't explain to him why she surrendered. It'll have to wait until this fixes itself, then if he still cares...

She raises a curious eyebrow as he takes the notepad, tilting her head a little curiously and waiting. When it's handed to her --

...That is absolutely adorable. No, really. She barely manages to bite back a giggle, though the smile's not so easy, as she looks over it closely. She's assuming that's her deck under her hand... and that looks like a cup or bowl.

Ah, she gets it. Karasu taps the drawing and nods firmly, indicating the door. She'll be more than happy to make you something to eat for this win.

Gathering up her deck, Karasu places a light kiss on the top card, a sort of thanks for the Samurai for sticking with her, like always. She carefully puts it away into its holder, then pushes herself out of the chair, stretching a little and waving for Bakura to follow her out of the door.]

[He's a little surprised she was so amicable to that last minute winner's request, but he's not going to complain! Bakura follows her cue and gets to his feet, pocketing his own deck and stretching his legs. He gives her a bit of a wry look when she kisses her cards, but then just silently follows.

H-heh heh...some people are way too sentimental. Thinks the man with a deck themed around his past and future.]

[The picture's too cute for her NOT to be willing to feed him for that. Besides, it's not like she ever minds cooking.

The dorm's the same as always, though there's something left on the table that Karasu just quickly balls up and shoves into her pocket. Nope. Not thinking about that right now.

Let's see... well, she'll just dig out some more of the meat and start cooking that.]

[Bakura is observant enough to notice that little grab and crumble, and he's nosy enough to pursue her on it. Though instead of asking, he just tries to pick-pocket her without being noticed.

He's pretty skilled when it comes to slights of hand, after all.]

[Even if Karasu was in a normal state of mind, she probably would've had some trouble realizing what he was doing. As it is, being severely upset and trying to repress all of it and pretend it hadn't happened has led her to being completely focused on the cooking, which means TK probably could've just shoved his hand in her pocket and taken it and still managed to get away with it.

Of course, seeing as the note's in Japanese, it probably didn't do him any good to take it... but there it is.]

[Damn, it's not even in English!

Bakura skulks away to copy the note quickly. Or...not so quickly. Japanese wasn't a beginner's written language, and he had trouble writing out a lot of the symbols. Bakura does manage eventually, and then slips the paper back into her pocket so she'd be none the wiser.

Without being able to speak, he just leans on the counter with his elbows and watchers he curiously, wondering what she'll make.]

[From the amount and variety of everything on the counter or pan, it looks like she's cooking the entire contents of their fridge. Meat and fries and everything that's even remotely cookable seems to be on the menu today, and she's barely even noticing the Thief King as she tends to it all.

By the time she's done, the counter's full of plates, and she sinks into the chair with a sigh. Dammit. That note made her lose all her appetite...]

[The small of good food cooking is too much! Bakura has to retreat to the living room before he drools all over the counter.

As soon as she starts putting things onto plates he wanders back in, picking at them before she's even finished setting up.]

H-hehe... �и Ї� ا Ů� е╪╣┘й.

[It's good as always. He mumbles the compliment with a smile before gathering up a few plates for himself. Taking a seat across from her, he eats pretty obliviously for awhile until finally noticing something is wrong.

It wasn't like her to not eat. What the fuck was she looking so dejected for?

He gets up and grabs another fork, skewering some meat onto it and then waving it dubiously in front of her face.]

[She nods and flashes him a smile almost absent-mindedly when he comes back in, closing her eyes for a moment. Hearing him shift around after a bit makes her half-open an eye, then open both of them at seeing him waving the food at her.

...Oh, yeah. With how much she usually eats, it's probably strange.

She smiles a bit, though it looks more upset than anything, and shakes her head a little, indicating he can have all of it, if he wants.]

He shrugs and takes a bite of the meat he'd offered her and sits back down. For awhile he just goes back to eating, but as he starts to fill up and run out of food, he starts to stare over at her with narrowed eyes.

Maybe it had something to do with that note? But it didn't look like she had had time to read it.]

[If she notices the staring, she doesn't react to it at all, just sitting with her head back and eyes closed as if she was sleeping, but definitely breathing too hard to be anything but awake.

Finally, after a moment, she just stands up, running a hand through her hair and going into the living room.

A game... that should do it. That should take her mind off it again.]

... [Finishing off the last of his food, he nosily follows her out into the living room, staying only a few strides behind her.]

[Karasu fumbles with the disk a little, but eventually manages to get the right game in the console and the TV on. The volume's turned down low like always (Karasu not wanting to spook TK again), so she just grabs a pillow from the couch, throws it on the floor, and lays down on top of it to make herself comfortable there while playing.

Don't mind the cords, there, Bakura.]

[He grimaces at the sight of the TV, but by now he's gotten used to the idea enough to not hide behind the couch in fright. He's mostly sure it's not going to steal his soul now.

Besides... The interactive shows she would play were usually more interesting. It didn't look like real people in those at all.

He sits beside her, criss-crossing his legs.]

[She glances over, as if just noticing he was there, then relaxes and turns back to the game.

It's that fantasy game of hers that she's playing... so he should be at least remotely entertained by the fact that she's going around taking everything that's not nailed down to pawn it off later.]
